[rv-7-97] • 10 श्लोकाः

यज्ञे दिवो नृषदने पृथिव्या नरो यत्र देवयवो मदन्ति । इन्द्राय यत्र सवनानि सुन्वे गमन्मदाय प्रथमं वयश्च ॥

yajñe divo nṛṣadane pṛthivyā naro yatra devayavo madanti | indrāya yatra savanāni sunve gamanmadāya prathamaṃ vayaśca ||

At the sacrifice in the dwellings of man upon earth, where the devout leaders of (rites) rejoice, wherethe libations to Indra are poured out, there may he descend before (other gods) from heaven for his exhilaration;(may his) swift (horses approach).

आ दैव्या वृणीमहेऽवांसि बृहस्पतिर्नो मह आ सखायः । यथा भवेम मीऴ्हुषे अनागा यो नो दाता परावतः पितेव ॥

ā daivyā vṛṇīmahe'vāṃsi bṛhaspatirno maha ā sakhāyaḥ | yathā bhavema mīḻhuṣe anāgā yo no dātā parāvataḥ piteva ||

Let us solicit, friends divine protections, for Bṛhaspati accepts our (oblations); so may we be withoutoffence towards that showerer (of benefits) whois our benefactor from afar, as a father (of a son).

तमु ज्येष्ठं नमसा हविर्भिः सुशेवं ब्रह्मणस्पतिं गृणीषे । इन्द्रं श्लोको महि दैव्यः सिषक्तु यो ब्रह्मणो देवकृतस्य राजा ॥

tamu jyeṣṭhaṃ namasā havirbhiḥ suśevaṃ brahmaṇaspatiṃ gṛṇīṣe | indraṃ śloko mahi daivyaḥ siṣaktu yo brahmaṇo devakṛtasya rājā ||

I glorify with homage and with oblations that most excellent and beneficent Brahmaṇaspati; may mypraise worthy of the deity, attain to the mighty Indra, who is the lord of the prayers offered by the devout.

स आ नो योनिं सदतु प्रेष्ठो बृहस्पतिर्विश्ववारो यो अस्ति । कामो रायः सुवीर्यस्य तं दात्पर्षन्नो अति सश्चतो अरिष्टान् ॥

sa ā no yoniṃ sadatu preṣṭho bṛhaspatirviśvavāro yo asti | kāmo rāyaḥ suvīryasya taṃ dātparṣanno ati saścato ariṣṭān ||

May that best beloved Bṛhaspati, who is the desired of all sit down in our hall of sacrifice; may hegratify our desire of riches and of male posterity. Transporting us (at present) embarrassed uninjured beyond(the assaults of enemies).

तमा नो अर्कममृताय जुष्टमिमे धासुरमृतासः पुराजाः । शुचिक्रन्दं यजतं पस्त्यानां बृहस्पतिमनर्वाणं हुवेम ॥

tamā no arkamamṛtāya juṣṭamime dhāsuramṛtāsaḥ purājāḥ | śucikrandaṃ yajataṃ pastyānāṃ bṛhaspatimanarvāṇaṃ huvema ||

May the first-born immortals (by his command) bestow upon us the food that is necessary for existence;let us invoke the unresisted Bṛhaspati, to whom pure praises are addressed, he adored of householder.

तं शग्मासो अरुषासो अश्वा बृहस्पतिं सहवाहो वहन्ति । सहश्चिद्यस्य नीलवत्सधस्थं नभो न रूपमरुषं वसानाः ॥

taṃ śagmāso aruṣāso aśvā bṛhaspatiṃ sahavāho vahanti | sahaścidyasya nīlavatsadhasthaṃ nabho na rūpamaruṣaṃ vasānāḥ ||

May his powerful brilliant horses, wearing a lustrous form like (that of) the sun, acting together, bring(hither) that Bṛhaspai, in whom strength abides like that of a substantial mansion.

स हि शुचिः शतपत्रः स शुन्ध्युर्हिरण्यवाशीरिषिरः स्वर्षाः । बृहस्पतिः स स्वावेश ऋष्वः पुरू सखिभ्य आसुतिं करिष्ठः ॥

sa hi śuciḥ śatapatraḥ sa śundhyurhiraṇyavāśīriṣiraḥ svarṣāḥ | bṛhaspatiḥ sa svāveśa ṛṣvaḥ purū sakhibhya āsutiṃ kariṣṭhaḥ ||

He verily is pure, borne by numerous conveyances, he is the purifier armed with golden weapons, theobject of desire, the enjoyer of heaven; he, Bṛhaspati is well domiciled, of goodly aspect, a most bountiful giverof ample food to his friend.

देवी देवस्य रोदसी जनित्री बृहस्पतिं वावृधतुर्महित्वा । दक्षाय्याय दक्षता सखायः करद्ब्रह्मणे सुतरा सुगाधा ॥

devī devasya rodasī janitrī bṛhaspatiṃ vāvṛdhaturmahitvā | dakṣāyyāya dakṣatā sakhāyaḥ karadbrahmaṇe sutarā sugādhā ||

The divine heaven and earth, the genitive ratrices of the deity have by their might, given growth toBṛhaspati; magnify, friends, the magnifiable, and may he render (the waters) easy to be crossed and forded for(the attainment of) food.

इयं वां ब्रह्मणस्पते सुवृक्तिर्ब्रह्मेन्द्राय वज्रिणे अकारि । अविष्टं धियो जिगृतं पुरंधीर्जजस्तमर्यो वनुषामरातीः ॥

iyaṃ vāṃ brahmaṇaspate suvṛktirbrahmendrāya vajriṇe akāri | aviṣṭaṃ dhiyo jigṛtaṃ puraṃdhīrjajastamaryo vanuṣāmarātīḥ ||

This praise has been offered as prayer to you both, Brahmaṇaspati and Indra, the wielder of thethunderbolt; protect our ceremonies; hear our manifold praise; annihilate the assailing adversaries of yourworshippers.

बृहस्पते युवमिन्द्रश्च वस्वो दिव्यस्येशाथे उत पार्थिवस्य । धत्तं रयिं स्तुवते कीरये चिद्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

bṛhaspate yuvamindraśca vasvo divyasyeśāthe uta pārthivasya | dhattaṃ rayiṃ stuvate kīraye cidyūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

You two, Bṛhaspati and Indra are lords of both celestial and terrestrial treasure; grant riches to theworshipper who praises you; and do you (gods) ever cherish us with blessings.
