ऋग्वेद 7.85 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

पुनीषे वामरक्षसं मनीषां सोममिन्द्राय वरुणाय जुह्वत् । घृतप्रतीकामुषसं न देवीं ता नो यामन्नुरुष्यतामभीके ॥

punīṣe vāmarakṣasaṃ manīṣāṃ somamindrāya varuṇāya juhvat | ghṛtapratīkāmuṣasaṃ na devīṃ tā no yāmannuruṣyatāmabhīke ||

I offer to you both adoration, uninterrupted by rākṣasas, presenting the Soma to Indra and to Varuṇa,-- (adoration), of which the members are radiant as the celestial dawn; may these two protect us at the time ofgoing to battle.

स्पर्धन्ते वा उ देवहूये अत्र येषु ध्वजेषु दिद्यवः पतन्ति । युवं ताँ इन्द्रावरुणावमित्रान्हतं पराचः शर्वा विषूचः ॥

spardhante vā u devahūye atra yeṣu dhvajeṣu didyavaḥ patanti | yuvaṃ tā~ indrāvaruṇāvamitrānhataṃ parācaḥ śarvā viṣūcaḥ ||

In the conflict where (combatants) strive against us, in those (contests) in which bright (weapons) fallupon the banners, do you two, Indra and Varuṇa, slay with your shaft those enemies who have been routed, andare scattered in various directions.

आपश्चिद्धि स्वयशसः सदस्सु देवीरिन्द्रं वरुणं देवता धुः । कृष्टीरन्यो धारयति प्रविक्ता वृत्राण्यन्यो अप्रतीनि हन्ति ॥

āpaściddhi svayaśasaḥ sadassu devīrindraṃ varuṇaṃ devatā dhuḥ | kṛṣṭīranyo dhārayati praviktā vṛtrāṇyanyo apratīni hanti ||

The divine Soma, flowing like water, self-renowned, (offered) at religious assemblies, supoort Indra andVaruṇa; of whom one regulates mankind, distinguished (as good or bad), and the other slays unresisted foeṣ

स सुक्रतुॠतचिदस्तु होता य आदित्य शवसा वां नमस्वान् । आववर्तदवसे वां हविष्मानसदित्स सुविताय प्रयस्वान् ॥

sa sukratuṝtacidastu hotā ya āditya śavasā vāṃ namasvān | āvavartadavase vāṃ haviṣmānasaditsa suvitāya prayasvān ||

May the devout worshipper derive benefit from sacrifice when offering adoration to you both, sons ofAditi (involved) with strength; he who, liberal of oblations invites you for your satisfaction, may he, possessingabundance, be in the enjoyment of happiness.

इयमिन्द्रं वरुणमष्ट मे गीः प्रावत्तोके तनये तूतुजाना । सुरत्नासो देववीतिं गमेम यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

iyamindraṃ varuṇamaṣṭa me gīḥ prāvattoke tanaye tūtujānā | suratnāso devavītiṃ gamema yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

May this my praise reach Indra and Varuṇa; and earnestly offered (by me), preserve sons andgrandsons; let us, possessed of affluence, present (their) food to the gods; and do you, (deities), ever cherish uswith blessings.
