[rv-7-5] • 9 श्लोकाः

प्राग्नये तवसे भरध्वं गिरं दिवो अरतये पृथिव्याः । यो विश्वेषाममृतानामुपस्थे वैश्वानरो वावृधे जागृवद्भिः ॥

prāgnaye tavase bharadhvaṃ giraṃ divo arataye pṛthivyāḥ | yo viśveṣāmamṛtānāmupasthe vaiśvānaro vāvṛdhe jāgṛvadbhiḥ ||

Offer praise to the strong Agni, traversing without hindrance heaven and earth; he who (as)Vaiśvānara prospers at the sacrifices of all the immortals, being associated with the awaking divinities.

पृष्टो दिवि धाय्यग्निः पृथिव्यां नेता सिन्धूनां वृषभः स्तियानाम् । स मानुषीरभि विशो वि भाति वैश्वानरो वावृधानो वरेण ॥

pṛṣṭo divi dhāyyagniḥ pṛthivyāṃ netā sindhūnāṃ vṛṣabhaḥ stiyānām | sa mānuṣīrabhi viśo vi bhāti vaiśvānaro vāvṛdhāno vareṇa ||

Agni, the leader of the rivers, the showerer of the waters, the radiant, has been stationed in thefirmament and upon earth; Viśvānara augmenting with the most excellent (oblation) shines upon human beings.

त्वद्भिया विश आयन्नसिक्नीरसमना जहतीर्भोजनानि । वैश्वानर पूरवे शोशुचानः पुरो यदग्ने दरयन्नदीदेः ॥

tvadbhiyā viśa āyannasiknīrasamanā jahatīrbhojanāni | vaiśvānara pūrave śośucānaḥ puro yadagne darayannadīdeḥ ||

Through fear of you, Vaiśvānara, the dark-complexioned races, although of many minds, arrived,abandoning their possessions, when, Agni, shining upon Puru, you have blazed, consuming the cities of his foe.

तव त्रिधातु पृथिवी उत द्यौर्वैश्वानर व्रतमग्ने सचन्त । त्वं भासा रोदसी आ ततन्थाजस्रेण शोचिषा शोशुचानः ॥

tava tridhātu pṛthivī uta dyaurvaiśvānara vratamagne sacanta | tvaṃ bhāsā rodasī ā tatanthājasreṇa śociṣā śośucānaḥ ||

Vaiśvānara Agni, the firmament, the earth, the heaven, combine in your worship; shining withundecaying splendour, you overspread heaven and earth with light.

त्वामग्ने हरितो वावशाना गिरः सचन्ते धुनयो घृताचीः । पतिं कृष्टीनां रथ्यं रयीणां वैश्वानरमुषसां केतुमह्नाम् ॥

tvāmagne harito vāvaśānā giraḥ sacante dhunayo ghṛtācīḥ | patiṃ kṛṣṭīnāṃ rathyaṃ rayīṇāṃ vaiśvānaramuṣasāṃ ketumahnām ||

The horses (of Indra), full of ardour, worship you, Agni; the praises (of men), dispersers (of iniquity),accompanied by oblations, (honour you), the lord of men, the conveyer of riches, the Vaiśvānara of dawns, themanifester of days.

त्वे असुर्यं वसवो न्यृण्वन्क्रतुं हि ते मित्रमहो जुषन्त । त्वं दस्यूँरोकसो अग्न आज उरु ज्योतिर्जनयन्नार्याय ॥

tve asuryaṃ vasavo nyṛṇvankratuṃ hi te mitramaho juṣanta | tvaṃ dasyū~rokaso agna āja uru jyotirjanayannāryāya ||

Reverencer of friends, Agni, th Vasus have concentrated vigour in you; they have been propitiated byyour acts; genitive rating vast splendour for the Arya, do you, Agni, expel the Dasyus from the dwelling.

स जायमानः परमे व्योमन्वायुर्न पाथः परि पासि सद्यः । त्वं भुवना जनयन्नभि क्रन्नपत्याय जातवेदो दशस्यन् ॥

sa jāyamānaḥ parame vyomanvāyurna pāthaḥ pari pāsi sadyaḥ | tvaṃ bhuvanā janayannabhi krannapatyāya jātavedo daśasyan ||

Born in the highest heaven, you ever drink (Soma) like Vāyu; genitive rating the waters, you thunder,granting (his wishes) to your offspring, the worshipper.

तामग्ने अस्मे इषमेरयस्व वैश्वानर द्युमतीं जातवेदः । यया राधः पिन्वसि विश्ववार पृथु श्रवो दाशुषे मर्त्याय ॥

tāmagne asme iṣamerayasva vaiśvānara dyumatīṃ jātavedaḥ | yayā rādhaḥ pinvasi viśvavāra pṛthu śravo dāśuṣe martyāya ||

Send to us, Agni, (who are) Vaiśvānara Jātavedas, that brilliant sustenance whereby you conferwealth, and (grant), all-desired Agni, abundant food to the mortal, the donor (of the oblation).

तं नो अग्ने मघवद्भ्यः पुरुक्षुं रयिं नि वाजं श्रुत्यं युवस्व । वैश्वानर महि नः शर्म यच्छ रुद्रेभिरग्ने वसुभिः सजोषाः ॥

taṃ no agne maghavadbhyaḥ purukṣuṃ rayiṃ ni vājaṃ śrutyaṃ yuvasva | vaiśvānara mahi naḥ śarma yaccha rudrebhiragne vasubhiḥ sajoṣāḥ ||

Bestow upon us who are affluent (in offerings), Agni, ample riches and renowned strength; associatedwith the Rudras, with the Vasus, grant us, Agni Vaiśvānara, infinite happiness.
