[rv-7-38] • 8 श्लोकाः

उदु ष्य देवः सविता ययाम हिरण्ययीममतिं यामशिश्रेत् । नूनं भगो हव्यो मानुषेभिर्वि यो रत्ना पुरूवसुर्दधाति ॥

udu ṣya devaḥ savitā yayāma hiraṇyayīmamatiṃ yāmaśiśret | nūnaṃ bhago havyo mānuṣebhirvi yo ratnā purūvasurdadhāti ||

The divine Savitā has diffused the golden radiance on high, of which he is the asylum; verily Bhaga isto be absorbed by men who, abounding in wealth, distributes treasures (among them).

उदु तिष्ठ सवितः श्रुध्यस्य हिरण्यपाणे प्रभृतावृतस्य । व्युर्वीं पृथ्वीममतिं सृजान आ नृभ्यो मर्तभोजनं सुवानः ॥

udu tiṣṭha savitaḥ śrudhyasya hiraṇyapāṇe prabhṛtāvṛtasya | vyurvīṃ pṛthvīmamatiṃ sṛjāna ā nṛbhyo martabhojanaṃ suvānaḥ ||

Rise up Savitā; hear (our solicitations) upon the celebration of this ceremony, (you who are) diffusinglight over the spacious earth, and bestowing human enjoyment upon men.

अपि ष्टुतः सविता देवो अस्तु यमा चिद्विश्वे वसवो गृणन्ति । स नः स्तोमान्नमस्यश्चनो धाद्विश्वेभिः पातु पायुभिर्नि सूरीन् ॥

api ṣṭutaḥ savitā devo astu yamā cidviśve vasavo gṛṇanti | sa naḥ stomānnamasyaścano dhādviśvebhiḥ pātu pāyubhirni sūrīn ||

Glorified be the divine Savitā, whom all the gods praise; may that adorable (diviniy) require our praises(with) food; may he always protect the devout with all his protections.

अभि यं देव्यदितिर्गृणाति सवं देवस्य सवितुर्जुषाणा । अभि सम्राजो वरुणो गृणन्त्यभि मित्रासो अर्यमा सजोषाः ॥

abhi yaṃ devyaditirgṛṇāti savaṃ devasya saviturjuṣāṇā | abhi samrājo varuṇo gṛṇantyabhi mitrāso aryamā sajoṣāḥ ||

Whom the divine Aditi, delighting at the birth of the divine Savitṛ, glorifies, whom the supremesoverigns, Varuṇa, Mitra, Āryaman, (and other gods) adore.

अभि ये मिथो वनुषः सपन्ते रातिं दिवो रातिषाचः पृथिव्याः । अहिर्बुध्न्य उत नः शृणोतु वरूत्र्येकधेनुभिर्नि पातु ॥

abhi ye mitho vanuṣaḥ sapante rātiṃ divo rātiṣācaḥ pṛthivyāḥ | ahirbudhnya uta naḥ śṛṇotu varūtryekadhenubhirni pātu ||

Whom those solicitous for wealth those enjoying (it), mutually worship, the benefactor of heaven andearth; may Ahirbudhnya hear us; may the protectress (the goddess of speech), cherish us with excellen cattle.

अनु तन्नो जास्पतिर्मंसीष्ट रत्नं देवस्य सवितुरियानः । भगमुग्रोऽवसे जोहवीति भगमनुग्रो अध याति रत्नम् ॥

anu tanno jāspatirmaṃsīṣṭa ratnaṃ devasya savituriyānaḥ | bhagamugro'vase johavīti bhagamanugro adha yāti ratnam ||

May the protector of progeny, when solicited, consent to bestow upon us the precious (wealth of thedivine Savitā; the ardent (adorer) invokes repeatedly Bhaga for protection; the less ardent solicits Bhaga forwealth.

शं नो भवन्तु वाजिनो हवेषु देवताता मितद्रवः स्वर्काः । जम्भयन्तोऽहिं वृकं रक्षांसि सनेम्यस्मद्युयवन्नमीवाः ॥

śaṃ no bhavantu vājino haveṣu devatātā mitadravaḥ svarkāḥ | jambhayanto'hiṃ vṛkaṃ rakṣāṃsi sanemyasmadyuyavannamīvāḥ ||

May the Vājins, with slackened speed, bringing excellent food, be (disposed) for our happiness, uponour invocations at the worship of the gods; destroying the murderer, the robber, the rākṣasas, and keepingfrom us ancient maladies.

वाजेवाजेऽवत वाजिनो नो धनेषु विप्रा अमृता ऋतज्ञाः । अस्य मध्वः पिबत मादयध्वं तृप्ता यात पथिभिर्देवयानैः ॥

vājevāje'vata vājino no dhaneṣu viprā amṛtā ṛtajñāḥ | asya madhvaḥ pibata mādayadhvaṃ tṛptā yāta pathibhirdevayānaiḥ ||

Wise, immortal Vājins, observers of truth, defend us in every conflict, and for the sake of wealth; drinkof this sweet (Soma), be exhilarated (thereby) and satisfied; proceed by the paths traversed by the gods.
