[rv-7-36] • 9 श्लोकाः

प्र ब्रह्मैतु सदनादृतस्य वि रश्मिभिः ससृजे सूर्यो गाः । वि सानुना पृथिवी सस्र उर्वी पृथु प्रतीकमध्येधे अग्निः ॥

pra brahmaitu sadanādṛtasya vi raśmibhiḥ sasṛje sūryo gāḥ | vi sānunā pṛthivī sasra urvī pṛthu pratīkamadhyedhe agniḥ ||

Let the prayer proceed from the nail of the sacrifice, for Sūrya with his rays lets loose the waters; thespacious earth spreads (studded) with mountains, and Agni blazes on the extensive plural inṣ

इमां वां मित्रावरुणा सुवृक्तिमिषं न कृण्वे असुरा नवीयः । इनो वामन्यः पदवीरदब्धो जनं च मित्रो यतति ब्रुवाणः ॥

imāṃ vāṃ mitrāvaruṇā suvṛktimiṣaṃ na kṛṇve asurā navīyaḥ | ino vāmanyaḥ padavīradabdho janaṃ ca mitro yatati bruvāṇaḥ ||

Powerful Mitra and Varuṇa, to you I offer this new praise as if it were (sacrificial) food; one of you,(Varuṇa). The invincible lord, is the guide to the path (of virtue) Mitra when praised animates men to exertioṇ

आ वातस्य ध्रजतो रन्त इत्या अपीपयन्त धेनवो न सूदाः । महो दिवः सदने जायमानोऽचिक्रदद्वृषभः सस्मिन्नूधन् ॥

ā vātasya dhrajato ranta ityā apīpayanta dhenavo na sūdāḥ | maho divaḥ sadane jāyamāno'cikradadvṛṣabhaḥ sasminnūdhan ||

The movements of the restless wind sport around; the milk-yielding kine are in good condition; theshowerer genitive rated in the dwelling of the mighty sun has cried aloud in that his plural ce of abiding, (the firmament).

गिरा य एता युनजद्धरी त इन्द्र प्रिया सुरथा शूर धायू । प्र यो मन्युं रिरिक्षतो मिनात्या सुक्रतुमर्यमणं ववृत्याम् ॥

girā ya etā yunajaddharī ta indra priyā surathā śūra dhāyū | pra yo manyuṃ ririkṣato minātyā sukratumaryamaṇaṃ vavṛtyām ||

Hero, Indra, (come to the sacrifice of the man) who, by his adoration, has harnessed (to your car) theseyour favourite, graceful and vigorous horses; may I bring hither Aryaman, the doer of good deeds, who baffles thewrath of the malevolent.

यजन्ते अस्य सख्यं वयश्च नमस्विनः स्व ऋतस्य धामन् । वि पृक्षो बाबधे नृभिः स्तवान इदं नमो रुद्राय प्रेष्ठम् ॥

yajante asya sakhyaṃ vayaśca namasvinaḥ sva ṛtasya dhāman | vi pṛkṣo bābadhe nṛbhiḥ stavāna idaṃ namo rudrāya preṣṭham ||

Let the offerers of adoration, engaging (in pious acts), worship (Rudra) in their own hall of sacrifice,(solicitous) of his friendship; praised by the leaders (of rites), he lavishes food (upon them); this most acceptableadoration is addressed to Rudra.

आ यत्साकं यशसो वावशानाः सरस्वती सप्तथी सिन्धुमाता । याः सुष्वयन्त सुदुघाः सुधारा अभि स्वेन पयसा पीप्यानाः ॥

ā yatsākaṃ yaśaso vāvaśānāḥ sarasvatī saptathī sindhumātā | yāḥ suṣvayanta sudughāḥ sudhārā abhi svena payasā pīpyānāḥ ||

May the seventh (stream), Sarasvatī, the mother of the Sindhu and those rivers that flow copious andfertilizing, bestowing abundance of food, and nourishing (the people) by their waters come at once together.

उत त्ये नो मरुतो मन्दसाना धियं तोकं च वाजिनोऽवन्तु । मा नः परि ख्यदक्षरा चरन्त्यवीवृधन्युज्यं ते रयिं नः ॥

uta tye no maruto mandasānā dhiyaṃ tokaṃ ca vājino'vantu | mā naḥ pari khyadakṣarā carantyavīvṛdhanyujyaṃ te rayiṃ naḥ ||

May these joyous and swift-going Maruts protect our sacrifice and our offspring; let not the imperishablegoddess of speech, deserting us, speak (kindly) to our (adversaries); and may both (she and the Marut)associated augment our riches.

प्र वो महीमरमतिं कृणुध्वं प्र पूषणं विदथ्यं न वीरम् । भगं धियोऽवितारं नो अस्याः सातौ वाजं रातिषाचं पुरंधिम् ॥

pra vo mahīmaramatiṃ kṛṇudhvaṃ pra pūṣaṇaṃ vidathyaṃ na vīram | bhagaṃ dhiyo'vitāraṃ no asyāḥ sātau vājaṃ rātiṣācaṃ puraṃdhim ||

Invoke, (worshippers), the unresisting earth, and the adorable hero, Pūṣan; (invoke) Bhaga, theprotector of this our sacrifice, and Vāja, the sustainer of old, the liberal of gifts to our solemnity.

अच्छायं वो मरुतः श्लोक एत्वच्छा विष्णुं निषिक्तपामवोभिः । उत प्रजायै गृणते वयो धुर्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

acchāyaṃ vo marutaḥ śloka etvacchā viṣṇuṃ niṣiktapāmavobhiḥ | uta prajāyai gṛṇate vayo dhuryūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

May this praise come, Maruts, before you; (may it come) before Viṣṇu, the guardian of the embryo,with his protecting faculties; may they both bestow upon (me), their adorer, progeny and food; and do you evercherish us with blessings.
