[rv-7-35] • 15 श्लोकाः

शं न इन्द्राग्नी भवतामवोभिः शं न इन्द्रावरुणा रातहव्या । शमिन्द्रासोमा सुविताय शं योः शं न इन्द्रापूषणा वाजसातौ ॥

śaṃ na indrāgnī bhavatāmavobhiḥ śaṃ na indrāvaruṇā rātahavyā | śamindrāsomā suvitāya śaṃ yoḥ śaṃ na indrāpūṣaṇā vājasātau ||

May Indra and Agni be (with us) with their protections for our hapiness; may Indra and Varuṇa, to whomoblations are offered, (be with us) for our happiness; may Indra and Soma be (with us) for our happiness, ourprosperity, our good; may Indra and Pūṣan be (with us) in battle for our triumph.

शं नो भगः शमु नः शंसो अस्तु शं नः पुरंधिः शमु सन्तु रायः । शं नः सत्यस्य सुयमस्य शंसः शं नो अर्यमा पुरुजातो अस्तु ॥

śaṃ no bhagaḥ śamu naḥ śaṃso astu śaṃ naḥ puraṃdhiḥ śamu santu rāyaḥ | śaṃ naḥ satyasya suyamasya śaṃsaḥ śaṃ no aryamā purujāto astu ||

May Bhaga (promote) our happiness; may Śaṃsa be our happiness; may Purandhi be (with us for) ourhappiness; may riches be (a source of) happiness; may the benediction of the true and virtuous yield ushappiness; may the variously-manifested Aryaman be (with us) for our felicity.

शं नो धाता शमु धर्ता नो अस्तु शं न उरूची भवतु स्वधाभिः । शं रोदसी बृहती शं नो अद्रिः शं नो देवानां सुहवानि सन्तु ॥

śaṃ no dhātā śamu dhartā no astu śaṃ na urūcī bhavatu svadhābhiḥ | śaṃ rodasī bṛhatī śaṃ no adriḥ śaṃ no devānāṃ suhavāni santu ||

May the creator be to us for happiness; may the discriminator (between virtue and vice, Varuṇa) be(with us) for our happiness; may the wide earth (contribute) with sustenance to our happiness; may the vastheaven and earth be (to us for) happiness; may the mountains (yield) us happiness; may our pious invocations ofthe gods secure us happiness.

शं नो अग्निर्ज्योतिरनीको अस्तु शं नो मित्रावरुणावश्विना शम् । शं नः सुकृतां सुकृतानि सन्तु शं न इषिरो अभि वातु वातः ॥

śaṃ no agnirjyotiranīko astu śaṃ no mitrāvaruṇāvaśvinā śam | śaṃ naḥ sukṛtāṃ sukṛtāni santu śaṃ na iṣiro abhi vātu vātaḥ ||

May Agni, whose countenance is light, be (with us) for our happiness; may Mitra and Varuṇa, may theAśvins be (present) for our felicity; may the virtuous be (promotive of) our happiness; may the restless wind blowfor our happiness.

शं नो द्यावापृथिवी पूर्वहूतौ शमन्तरिक्षं दृशये नो अस्तु । शं न ओषधीर्वनिनो भवन्तु शं नो रजसस्पतिरस्तु जिष्णुः ॥

śaṃ no dyāvāpṛthivī pūrvahūtau śamantarikṣaṃ dṛśaye no astu | śaṃ na oṣadhīrvanino bhavantu śaṃ no rajasaspatirastu jiṣṇuḥ ||

May heaven and earth, the first invoked, (promote) our happiness; may the firmament be happiness toour view; may the herbs, the trees, (yield) us happiness; may the victorious lord of the world, (Indra), be(favourable to) our felicity.

शं न इन्द्रो वसुभिर्देवो अस्तु शमादित्येभिर्वरुणः सुशंसः । शं नो रुद्रो रुद्रेभिर्जलाषः शं नस्त्वष्टा ग्नाभिरिह शृणोतु ॥

śaṃ na indro vasubhirdevo astu śamādityebhirvaruṇaḥ suśaṃsaḥ | śaṃ no rudro rudrebhirjalāṣaḥ śaṃ nastvaṣṭā gnābhiriha śṛṇotu ||

May the divine (Indra), with the Vasus, grant us happiness; may the justly-praised Varuṇa, with theĀdityas, be (friendly to) our happiness; may the grief-assuaging Rudra, with the Rudras, be (for) our happiness;may Tvaṣṭā, with the wives of the gods, be (with us) for our happiness, and hear us at this solemnity.

शं नः सोमो भवतु ब्रह्म शं नः शं नो ग्रावाणः शमु सन्तु यज्ञाः । शं नः स्वरूणां मितयो भवन्तु शं नः प्रस्वः शम्वस्तु वेदिः ॥

śaṃ naḥ somo bhavatu brahma śaṃ naḥ śaṃ no grāvāṇaḥ śamu santu yajñāḥ | śaṃ naḥ svarūṇāṃ mitayo bhavantu śaṃ naḥ prasvaḥ śamvastu vediḥ ||

May the Soma be (offered for) our happiness; may the prayer be (uttered for) our happiness; may thestones (grind the Soma), the sacrifice be (solemnized for) our happiness; may the measured lengths of thesacrificial posts be (conducive to) our felicity; may the sacred grass be (strewn) for our happiness; may the altarbe (raised for) our happiness.

शं नः सूर्य उरुचक्षा उदेतु शं नश्चतस्रः प्रदिशो भवन्तु । शं नः पर्वता ध्रुवयो भवन्तु शं नः सिन्धवः शमु सन्त्वापः ॥

śaṃ naḥ sūrya urucakṣā udetu śaṃ naścatasraḥ pradiśo bhavantu | śaṃ naḥ parvatā dhruvayo bhavantu śaṃ naḥ sindhavaḥ śamu santvāpaḥ ||

May the wide-seeing sun rise (for) our happines; may the four quarters of the horizon (exist for) ourfelicity; may the firm-set mountains be (for) our happiness; may the rivers, may the waters, be (diffused) for ourhappiness.

शं नो अदितिर्भवतु व्रतेभिः शं नो भवन्तु मरुतः स्वर्काः । शं नो विष्णुः शमु पूषा नो अस्तु शं नो भवित्रं शम्वस्तु वायुः ॥

śaṃ no aditirbhavatu vratebhiḥ śaṃ no bhavantu marutaḥ svarkāḥ | śaṃ no viṣṇuḥ śamu pūṣā no astu śaṃ no bhavitraṃ śamvastu vāyuḥ ||

May Aditi, with holy observances, be (for) our happiness; may the glorified Maruts be (friendly to) ourfelicity; may Viṣṇu, may Pūṣan, be (promoters of) our happiness; may the firmament be propitious to us; mayVāyu (blow for) our happiness.

शं नो देवः सविता त्रायमाणः शं नो भवन्तूषसो विभातीः । शं नः पर्जन्यो भवतु प्रजाभ्यः शं नः क्षेत्रस्य पतिरस्तु शम्भुः ॥

śaṃ no devaḥ savitā trāyamāṇaḥ śaṃ no bhavantūṣaso vibhātīḥ | śaṃ naḥ parjanyo bhavatu prajābhyaḥ śaṃ naḥ kṣetrasya patirastu śambhuḥ ||

May the divine preserving Savitā be (radiant for) our happiness; may the opening dawns (break for)our happiness; may Parjanya be (the granter of happiness) to our posterity; may Śambhu, the lord of strength,be (the conferrer of) happiness upon us.

शं नो देवा विश्वदेवा भवन्तु शं सरस्वती सह धीभिरस्तु । शमभिषाचः शमु रातिषाचः शं नो दिव्याः पार्थिवाः शं नो अप्याः ॥

śaṃ no devā viśvadevā bhavantu śaṃ sarasvatī saha dhībhirastu | śamabhiṣācaḥ śamu rātiṣācaḥ śaṃ no divyāḥ pārthivāḥ śaṃ no apyāḥ ||

May the divine universal gods be (favourable) to our felicity; may Sarasvatī, with holy rites, behappiness; may those who assist at sacrifices, those who are liberal of gifts. Be (conducive to) our happiness;may celestial, terrestrial and aquatic things be (subservient to) our happiness.

शं नः सत्यस्य पतयो भवन्तु शं नो अर्वन्तः शमु सन्तु गावः । शं न ऋभवः सुकृतः सुहस्ताः शं नो भवन्तु पितरो हवेषु ॥

śaṃ naḥ satyasya patayo bhavantu śaṃ no arvantaḥ śamu santu gāvaḥ | śaṃ na ṛbhavaḥ sukṛtaḥ suhastāḥ śaṃ no bhavantu pitaro haveṣu ||

May the lords of truth be (propitious to) our happiness; may horses, may cattle, (contribute to) ourhappiness; may the virtuous, the dexterous Ṛbhus, be to us (for) felicity; may the progenitors be (promoters of)our happiness at the seasons of worship.

शं नो अज एकपाद्देवो अस्तु शं नोऽहिर्बुध्न्यः शं समुद्रः । शं नो अपां नपात्पेरुरस्तु शं नः पृश्निर्भवतु देवगोपा ॥

śaṃ no aja ekapāddevo astu śaṃ no'hirbudhnyaḥ śaṃ samudraḥ | śaṃ no apāṃ napātperurastu śaṃ naḥ pṛśnirbhavatu devagopā ||

May the divine Aja-Ekapād be (favourable to) our happiness; may Ahirbudhnya, may the firmament, be(promotive of) our happiness; may the grandson of the waters, the protector, be (the securer of) our felicity; mayPṛśni, of whom the gods are the guardians, be to us (a granter of) happiness.

आदित्या रुद्रा वसवो जुषन्तेदं ब्रह्म क्रियमाणं नवीयः । शृण्वन्तु नो दिव्याः पार्थिवासो गोजाता उत ये यज्ञियासः ॥

ādityā rudrā vasavo juṣantedaṃ brahma kriyamāṇaṃ navīyaḥ | śṛṇvantu no divyāḥ pārthivāso gojātā uta ye yajñiyāsaḥ ||

May the Ādiyas, the Rudras, the Vasus, be gratified by this new and now repeated praise; maycelestial and terrestrial (beings), the progeny of the cow, (Pṛśni), and those who were entitled to worship, hearour (invocations).

ये देवानां यज्ञिया यज्ञियानां मनोर्यजत्रा अमृता ऋतज्ञाः । ते नो रासन्तामुरुगायमद्य यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

ye devānāṃ yajñiyā yajñiyānāṃ manoryajatrā amṛtā ṛtajñāḥ | te no rāsantāmurugāyamadya yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

May those who are the most adorable divinities, those who were the adored of Manu, those who areimmortal, the observers of truth, bestow upon us this day (a son), of wide-spread renown; and do you evercherish us with blessings.
