[rv-7-34] • 25 श्लोकाः

प्र शुक्रैतु देवी मनीषा अस्मत्सुतष्टो रथो न वाजी ॥

pra śukraitu devī manīṣā asmatsutaṣṭo ratho na vājī ||

May pure and divine praise proceed from us (to the gods) like a swift well-constructed chariot.

विदुः पृथिव्या दिवो जनित्रं शृण्वन्त्यापो अध क्षरन्तीः ॥

viduḥ pṛthivyā divo janitraṃ śṛṇvantyāpo adha kṣarantīḥ ||

The flowing waters having known the origin of earth and heaven; may they now hear (our praises).

आपश्चिदस्मै पिन्वन्त पृथ्वीर्वृत्रेषु शूरा मंसन्त उग्राः ॥

āpaścidasmai pinvanta pṛthvīrvṛtreṣu śūrā maṃsanta ugrāḥ ||

The vast waters offer nourishment to Indra; fierce warriors (combating) with foes, glorify him.

आ धूर्ष्वस्मै दधाताश्वानिन्द्रो न वज्री हिरण्यबाहुः ॥

ā dhūrṣvasmai dadhātāśvānindro na vajrī hiraṇyabāhuḥ ||

Yoke for him the horses of his chariot, the Indra is the wielder of the thunderbolt, the golden-armed.

अभि प्र स्थाताहेव यज्ञं यातेव पत्मन्त्मना हिनोत ॥

abhi pra sthātāheva yajñaṃ yāteva patmantmanā hinota ||

Proceed to the sacrifice like one who goes along the road; proceed of your own accord.

त्मना समत्सु हिनोत यज्ञं दधात केतुं जनाय वीरम् ॥

tmanā samatsu hinota yajñaṃ dadhāta ketuṃ janāya vīram ||

Go of your own accord to battle; celebrate the significant and expiatory sacrifice for (the good of)mankind.

उदस्य शुष्माद्भानुर्नार्त बिभर्ति भारं पृथिवी न भूम ॥

udasya śuṣmādbhānurnārta bibharti bhāraṃ pṛthivī na bhūma ||

From the force of this (sacrifice) the sun rises; it sustains the burden (of the world) as (earth) supportsmany (beings).

ह्वयामि देवाँ अयातुरग्ने साधन्नृतेन धियं दधामि ॥

hvayāmi devā~ ayāturagne sādhannṛtena dhiyaṃ dadhāmi ||

I invoke the gods, Agni, propitiating them by an inoffensive rite, I celebrate a pious act.

अभि वो देवीं धियं दधिध्वं प्र वो देवत्रा वाचं कृणुध्वम् ॥

abhi vo devīṃ dhiyaṃ dadhidhvaṃ pra vo devatrā vācaṃ kṛṇudhvam ||

Offer (worshippers) your heavenly worship; earnestly address your praises to the gods.

आ चष्ट आसां पाथो नदीनां वरुण उग्रः सहस्रचक्षाः ॥

ā caṣṭa āsāṃ pātho nadīnāṃ varuṇa ugraḥ sahasracakṣāḥ ||

The fierce Varuṇa, the thousand-eyed, contemplates the water of these rivers.

राजा राष्ट्रानां पेशो नदीनामनुत्तमस्मै क्षत्रं विश्वायु ॥

rājā rāṣṭrānāṃ peśo nadīnāmanuttamasmai kṣatraṃ viśvāyu ||

He is the king of kings; the beauty of the rivers his all-pervading strength is irresistible.

अविष्टो अस्मान्विश्वासु विक्ष्वद्युं कृणोत शंसं निनित्सोः ॥

aviṣṭo asmānviśvāsu vikṣvadyuṃ kṛṇota śaṃsaṃ ninitsoḥ ||

Protect us, gods, among all people; render extinct the calumny of the malevolent.

व्येतु दिद्युद्द्विषामशेवा युयोत विष्वग्रपस्तनूनाम् ॥

vyetu didyuddviṣāmaśevā yuyota viṣvagrapastanūnām ||

May the blazing (weapons) of foes pass by innocuous; separate, (gods), universally (from us) the sin ofour bodies.

अवीन्नो अग्निर्हव्यान्नमोभिः प्रेष्ठो अस्मा अधायि स्तोमः ॥

avīnno agnirhavyānnamobhiḥ preṣṭho asmā adhāyi stomaḥ ||

May Agni, the feeder on oblations, propitiated by our homage, protect us; to him has our praise beenaddressed.

सजूर्देवेभिरपां नपातं सखायं कृध्वं शिवो नो अस्तु ॥

sajūrdevebhirapāṃ napātaṃ sakhāyaṃ kṛdhvaṃ śivo no astu ||

Glorify along with the gods our friend, the grandson of the waters; may he be propitious to us.

अब्जामुक्थैरहिं गृणीषे बुध्ने नदीनां रजस्सु षीदन् ॥

abjāmukthairahiṃ gṛṇīṣe budhne nadīnāṃ rajassu ṣīdan ||

I glorify with hymns the disperser of the clouds in the firmament; the water-born, sitting among thewaters of the rivers.

मा नोऽहिर्बुध्न्यो रिषे धान्मा यज्ञो अस्य स्रिधदृतायोः ॥

mā no'hirbudhnyo riṣe dhānmā yajño asya sridhadṛtāyoḥ ||

Let not Ahirbudhnya be disposed to work us harm; let not the sacrifice of the worshipper bedisregarded.

उत न एषु नृषु श्रवो धुः प्र राये यन्तु शर्धन्तो अर्यः ॥

uta na eṣu nṛṣu śravo dhuḥ pra rāye yantu śardhanto aryaḥ ||

May (the gods) bestow food upon our people; let foes contending for our riches perish.

तपन्ति शत्रुं स्वर्ण भूमा महासेनासो अमेभिरेषाम् ॥

tapanti śatruṃ svarṇa bhūmā mahāsenāso amebhireṣām ||

Leaders of great armies, by the power of these (divinities), consume their foes, as he sun (scorches)the regions.

आ यन्नः पत्नीर्गमन्त्यच्छा त्वष्टा सुपाणिर्दधातु वीरान् ॥

ā yannaḥ patnīrgamantyacchā tvaṣṭā supāṇirdadhātu vīrān ||

When the wives (of the gods) come before us, may the dextrous Tvaṣṭā grant us male progeny.

प्रति नः स्तोमं त्वष्टा जुषेत स्यादस्मे अरमतिर्वसूयुः ॥

prati naḥ stomaṃ tvaṣṭā juṣeta syādasme aramatirvasūyuḥ ||

May Tvaṣṭā be propitiated by this our praise; may he who is of comprehensive understanding beinclined to give us wealth.

ता नो रासन्रातिषाचो वसून्या रोदसी वरुणानी शृणोतु । वरूत्रीभिः सुशरणो नो अस्तु त्वष्टा सुदत्रो वि दधातु रायः ॥

tā no rāsanrātiṣāco vasūnyā rodasī varuṇānī śṛṇotu | varūtrībhiḥ suśaraṇo no astu tvaṣṭā sudatro vi dadhātu rāyaḥ ||

May they who are the givers of gifts bestow upon us the treasure (we desire); may Rodasī andVaruṇānī hear (our supplications); may the genitive rous Tvaṣṭā together with these (our) protectresses, be oursure refuge; may they give us riches.

तन्नो रायः पर्वतास्तन्न आपस्तद्रातिषाच ओषधीरुत द्यौः । वनस्पतिभिः पृथिवी सजोषा उभे रोदसी परि पासतो नः ॥

tanno rāyaḥ parvatāstanna āpastadrātiṣāca oṣadhīruta dyauḥ | vanaspatibhiḥ pṛthivī sajoṣā ubhe rodasī pari pāsato naḥ ||

May the mountains, the waters, the liberal (wives of the gods), the plural nts, also the heaven and theearth, consentient with the forest lords and both the heaven and earth, preserve for us those (coveted) riches.

अनु तदुर्वी रोदसी जिहातामनु द्युक्षो वरुण इन्द्रसखा । अनु विश्वे मरुतो ये सहासो रायः स्याम धरुणं धियध्यै ॥

anu tadurvī rodasī jihātāmanu dyukṣo varuṇa indrasakhā | anu viśve maruto ye sahāso rāyaḥ syāma dharuṇaṃ dhiyadhyai ||

Let the vast heaven and earth consent, let the brilliant Varuṇa, of whom Indra is the friend consent; letall the victorious Maruts consent that we may be a recepacle for the retention of riches.

तन्न इन्द्रो वरुणो मित्रो अग्निराप ओषधीर्वनिनो जुषन्त । शर्मन्त्स्याम मरुतामुपस्थे यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

tanna indro varuṇo mitro agnirāpa oṣadhīrvanino juṣanta | śarmantsyāma marutāmupasthe yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

May Indra, Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni, the waters, the herbs, the trees, be plural ased by our (praise); may we,(reclining) on the lap of the Maruts, enjoy felicity; and do you ever cherish us with blessings.
