[rv-7-23] • 6 श्लोकाः

उदु ब्रह्माण्यैरत श्रवस्येन्द्रं समर्ये महया वसिष्ठ । आ यो विश्वानि शवसा ततानोपश्रोता म ईवतो वचांसि ॥

udu brahmāṇyairata śravasyendraṃ samarye mahayā vasiṣṭha | ā yo viśvāni śavasā tatānopaśrotā ma īvato vacāṃsi ||

(The sages) have offered prayers to (Indra) for food, worship Indra, Vasiṣṭha at the sacrifice; may thatIndra who has spread out all (the regions) by his might, be the hearer of my words when approaching him.

अयामि घोष इन्द्र देवजामिरिरज्यन्त यच्छुरुधो विवाचि । नहि स्वमायुश्चिकिते जनेषु तानीदंहांस्यति पर्ष्यस्मान् ॥

ayāmi ghoṣa indra devajāmirirajyanta yacchurudho vivāci | nahi svamāyuścikite janeṣu tānīdaṃhāṃsyati parṣyasmān ||

When, Indra, the plural nts grow up, the sound (of praise) acceptable to the gods, (uttered) by theworshipper, has been raised; by no one among men, is his own life understood; convey us beyond all those sins(by which life is shortened).

युजे रथं गवेषणं हरिभ्यामुप ब्रह्माणि जुजुषाणमस्थुः । वि बाधिष्ट स्य रोदसी महित्वेन्द्रो वृत्राण्यप्रती जघन्वान् ॥

yuje rathaṃ gaveṣaṇaṃ haribhyāmupa brahmāṇi jujuṣāṇamasthuḥ | vi bādhiṣṭa sya rodasī mahitvendro vṛtrāṇyapratī jaghanvān ||

I harness (by praises) the kine-bestowing chariot (of Indra) with his horses; (my) prayers have reachedhim who is plural ased (by devotion); he has surpassed in magnitude heaven and earth, slaying the unresistingenemies.

आपश्चित्पिप्युः स्तर्यो न गावो नक्षन्नृतं जरितारस्त इन्द्र । याहि वायुर्न नियुतो नो अच्छा त्वं हि धीभिर्दयसे वि वाजान् ॥

āpaścitpipyuḥ staryo na gāvo nakṣannṛtaṃ jaritārasta indra | yāhi vāyurna niyuto no acchā tvaṃ hi dhībhirdayase vi vājān ||

May the waters increase like young; may your worshippers, Indra, possess water (in abundance); comelike the wind with the Niyut steeds, for you, (propitiated) by holy rites, verily bestow upon us food.

ते त्वा मदा इन्द्र मादयन्तु शुष्मिणं तुविराधसं जरित्रे । एको देवत्रा दयसे हि मर्तानस्मिञ्छूर सवने मादयस्व ॥

te tvā madā indra mādayantu śuṣmiṇaṃ tuvirādhasaṃ jaritre | eko devatrā dayase hi martānasmiñchūra savane mādayasva ||

May these inebriating draughts exhilarate you, Indra; bestow upon the praiser (a son vigorous andwealthy); for you alone among the gods are compassionate to mortals; be exhilarated here at this sacrifice.

एवेदिन्द्रं वृषणं वज्रबाहुं वसिष्ठासो अभ्यर्चन्त्यर्कैः । स नः स्तुतो वीरवद्धातु गोमद्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

evedindraṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ vajrabāhuṃ vasiṣṭhāso abhyarcantyarkaiḥ | sa naḥ stuto vīravaddhātu gomadyūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

In this manner the Vasiṣṭhas glorify with hymns Indra, the showerer, the bearer of the thunderbolt; mayhe so glorified grant us wealth, comprising male posterity and cattle; and do you ever cherish us with blessingṣ
