अस्य प्रेषा हेमना पूयमानो देवो देवेभिः समपृक्त रसम् । सुतः पवित्रं पर्येति रेभन्मितेव सद्म पशुमान्ति होता ॥

asya preṣā hemanā pūyamāno devo devebhiḥ samapṛkta rasam | sutaḥ pavitraṃ paryeti rebhanmiteva sadma paśumānti hotā ||

The shining Somabeing purified by the golden hand that urges it forth, brings its juice into contact with the gods; when effused it proceeds with a roar to the filter like the ministrant priest to the halls prepared (for sacrifice) containing victims.

भद्रा वस्त्रा समन्या वसानो महान्कविर्निवचनानि शंसन् । आ वच्यस्व चम्वोः पूयमानो विचक्षणो जागृविर्देववीतौ ॥

bhadrā vastrā samanyā vasāno mahānkavirnivacanāni śaṃsan | ā vacyasva camvoḥ pūyamāno vicakṣaṇo jāgṛvirdevavītau ||

The great wise Soma, clothed in his auspicious war-vestments, the inspirer of praises-- enter into the vessle when purified, you who are sagacious and vigilant at the banquet of the gods.

समु प्रियो मृज्यते सानो अव्ये यशस्तरो यशसां क्षैतो अस्मे । अभि स्वर धन्वा पूयमानो यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

samu priyo mṛjyate sāno avye yaśastaro yaśasāṃ kṣaito asme | abhi svara dhanvā pūyamāno yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

(Soma), the most famous of the famous, the earht-born, the conciliator, is cleansed for us in the elevated fleece; sound aloud in the firmament when purified; do you ever protect us with blessings.

प्र गायताभ्यर्चाम देवान्त्सोमं हिनोत महते धनाय । स्वादुः पवाते अति वारमव्यमा सीदाति कलशं देवयुर्नः ॥

pra gāyatābhyarcāma devāntsomaṃ hinota mahate dhanāya | svāduḥ pavāte ati vāramavyamā sīdāti kalaśaṃ devayurnaḥ ||

Sing (to the Soma), let us praise the gods; send forth the Soma for (the acquisition of) great wealth. He passes sweet-flavoured pure through the fleecy filter; our (Soma) devoted to the gods alights on the pitcher.

इन्दुर्देवानामुप सख्यमायन्त्सहस्रधारः पवते मदाय । नृभिः स्तवानो अनु धाम पूर्वमगन्निन्द्रं महते सौभगाय ॥

indurdevānāmupa sakhyamāyantsahasradhāraḥ pavate madāya | nṛbhiḥ stavāno anu dhāma pūrvamagannindraṃ mahate saubhagāya ||

Indu coming to obtain the friendship of the god; flows in a thousand streams for (their) exhilaration, glorified by the priests (he proceeds) to his ancient station, he proceeds to Indra for the sake of great prosperity (to the worshippers).

स्तोत्रे राये हरिरर्षा पुनान इन्द्रं मदो गच्छतु ते भराय । देवैर्याहि सरथं राधो अच्छा यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

stotre rāye harirarṣā punāna indraṃ mado gacchatu te bharāya | devairyāhi sarathaṃ rādho acchā yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

(Soma), when our praise is offered, flow green-tinted and purified, to (bring us) riches, may your exhilarating beverage animate Indra to battle. Go in the same car with the gods to (procure us) wealth; do you ever protect us with blessings.

प्र काव्यमुशनेव ब्रुवाणो देवो देवानां जनिमा विवक्ति । महिव्रतः शुचिबन्धुः पावकः पदा वराहो अभ्येति रेभन् ॥

pra kāvyamuśaneva bruvāṇo devo devānāṃ janimā vivakti | mahivrataḥ śucibandhuḥ pāvakaḥ padā varāho abhyeti rebhan ||

Reciting sacred praise like Uṣanas the praiser (Vṛṣagaṇa) proclaims the births of the gods; assiduous in pious observances, of brilliant radiance, purifying (from sin), he approaches the filter making a noise (as) a wild boar (makes a noise) with its foot.

प्र हंसासस्तृपलं मन्युमच्छामादस्तं वृषगणा अयासुः । आङ्गूष्यं पवमानं सखायो दुर्मर्षं साकं प्र वदन्ति वाणम् ॥

pra haṃsāsastṛpalaṃ manyumacchāmādastaṃ vṛṣagaṇā ayāsuḥ | āṅgūṣyaṃ pavamānaṃ sakhāyo durmarṣaṃ sākaṃ pra vadanti vāṇam ||

The Vṛṣagaṇas (walking like) swans, (alarmed) at the strength (of the foe), having repaired to the house of sacrifice, to the swift-shooting foe-despising (Soma), the friends sound the flut to the praiseworthy irresistble Pavamāna.

स रंहत उरुगायस्य जूतिं वृथा क्रीऴन्तं मिमते न गावः । परीणसं कृणुते तिग्मशृङ्गो दिवा हरिर्ददृशे नक्तमृज्रः ॥

sa raṃhata urugāyasya jūtiṃ vṛthā krīḻantaṃ mimate na gāvaḥ | parīṇasaṃ kṛṇute tigmaśṛṅgo divā harirdadṛśe naktamṛjraḥ ||

He moves rapidly (following) the path of (him) the much-praised, (other) goers cannot overtake him (though he is) moving easily; sharp-horned he displays manifold (radiance); the Soma appears green-tinted by day, and clearly visible at night.

इन्दुर्वाजी पवते गोन्योघा इन्द्रे सोमः सह इन्वन्मदाय । हन्ति रक्षो बाधते पर्यरातीर्वरिवः कृण्वन्वृजनस्य राजा ॥

indurvājī pavate gonyoghā indre somaḥ saha invanmadāya | hanti rakṣo bādhate paryarātīrvarivaḥ kṛṇvanvṛjanasya rājā ||

The powerful, flowing Soma having quantities o fjuice flowing down, streams forth infusing strength into Indra for his exhilaration; conferring wealth the king of strength slays the rākṣasas and harasses the enemy.

अध धारया मध्वा पृचानस्तिरो रोम पवते अद्रिदुग्धः । इन्दुरिन्द्रस्य सख्यं जुषाणो देवो देवस्य मत्सरो मदाय ॥

adha dhārayā madhvā pṛcānastiro roma pavate adridugdhaḥ | indurindrasya sakhyaṃ juṣāṇo devo devasya matsaro madāya ||

Milked forth by the stones the Soma flows through the (sheep's) hair coming into contact (with the gods) with its sweet-flavoured stream; the divine exhilarating Indu desiring the friendship of Indra flows for the exhilaration of the deity.

अभि प्रियाणि पवते पुनानो देवो देवान्त्स्वेन रसेन पृञ्चन् । इन्दुर्धर्माण्यृतुथा वसानो दश क्षिपो अव्यत सानो अव्ये ॥

abhi priyāṇi pavate punāno devo devāntsvena rasena pṛñcan | indurdharmāṇyṛtuthā vasāno daśa kṣipo avyata sāno avye ||

Clothed in plural asant radiance suited to the season, the sportive Indu flows purified, reaching the gods with its juice; the ten fingers guide it to the elevated fleece.

वृषा शोणो अभिकनिक्रदद्गा नदयन्नेति पृथिवीमुत द्याम् । इन्द्रस्येव वग्नुरा शृण्व आजौ प्रचेतयन्नर्षति वाचमेमाम् ॥

vṛṣā śoṇo abhikanikradadgā nadayanneti pṛthivīmuta dyām | indrasyeva vagnurā śṛṇva ājau pracetayannarṣati vācamemām ||

(Calling out for the praises like) a red bull bellowing after the kine; the Soma goes with a roar through heaven and earth; (his voice) is heard as the voice of Indra, manifesting (himself) he raises this voice.

रसाय्यः पयसा पिन्वमान ईरयन्नेषि मधुमन्तमंशुम् । पवमानः संतनिमेषि कृण्वन्निन्द्राय सोम परिषिच्यमानः ॥

rasāyyaḥ payasā pinvamāna īrayanneṣi madhumantamaṃśum | pavamānaḥ saṃtanimeṣi kṛṇvannindrāya soma pariṣicyamānaḥ ||

plural asant to the taste, dripping with milk, you flow pouring forth the sweet-flavoured juice. Soma, when purified and sprinkled, you flow for Indra in a continuous stream.

एवा पवस्व मदिरो मदायोदग्राभस्य नमयन्वधस्नैः । परि वर्णं भरमाणो रुशन्तं गव्युर्नो अर्ष परि सोम सिक्तः ॥

evā pavasva madiro madāyodagrābhasya namayanvadhasnaiḥ | pari varṇaṃ bharamāṇo ruśantaṃ gavyurno arṣa pari soma siktaḥ ||

Thus flow, the exhilarator, for Indra's exhilaration bowing down the rain-holder with (your) weapons, assuming brilliant colour, desirous of our cattle, flow, Soma, sprinkled (into the filter).

जुष्ट्वी न इन्दो सुपथा सुगान्युरौ पवस्व वरिवांसि कृण्वन् । घनेव विष्वग्दुरितानि विघ्नन्नधि ष्णुना धन्व सानो अव्ये ॥

juṣṭvī na indo supathā sugānyurau pavasva varivāṃsi kṛṇvan | ghaneva viṣvagduritāni vighnannadhi ṣṇunā dhanva sāno avye ||

Gratified (with our praises), Indu, flow into the large (vessel), granting us riches coming by holy paths and easily acquired; beating down the rākṣasas on every side as with a club, flow in a stream upon the elevated fleece.

वृष्टिं नो अर्ष दिव्यां जिगत्नुमिऴावतीं शंगयीं जीरदानुम् । स्तुकेव वीता धन्वा विचिन्वन्बन्धूँरिमाँ अवराँ इन्दो वायून् ॥

vṛṣṭiṃ no arṣa divyāṃ jigatnumiḻāvatīṃ śaṃgayīṃ jīradānum | stukeva vītā dhanvā vicinvanbandhū~rimā~ avarā~ indo vāyūn ||

Sending us rain from heaven, quick-falling, food-giving, giving health to our home, promptly munificent; flow, Indu, seeking these lower winds your kinsmen as (one seeking his) beloved infants.

ग्रन्थिं न वि ष्य ग्रथितं पुनान ऋजुं च गातुं वृजिनं च सोम । अत्यो न क्रदो हरिरा सृजानो मर्यो देव धन्व पस्त्यावान् ॥

granthiṃ na vi ṣya grathitaṃ punāna ṛjuṃ ca gātuṃ vṛjinaṃ ca soma | atyo na krado harirā sṛjāno maryo deva dhanva pastyāvān ||

(Soma), when filtered loose (me) bound (by sin) as (one loose) a knot; (grant me) a straight path and strength. You, green-tinted, neigh like a horse (when you are) let loose; proceed divine (Soma) who are friendly to man, and have a dwelling.

जुष्टो मदाय देवतात इन्दो परि ष्णुना धन्व सानो अव्ये । सहस्रधारः सुरभिरदब्धः परि स्रव वाजसातौ नृषह्ये ॥

juṣṭo madāya devatāta indo pari ṣṇunā dhanva sāno avye | sahasradhāraḥ surabhiradabdhaḥ pari srava vājasātau nṛṣahye ||

Indu, who are adequate for exhilaration flow in a stream to the elevated fleece at the sacrifice; thousand- streaming, fragrant, irresistible, flow for the acquisition of food in the combat.

अरश्मानो येऽरथा अयुक्ता अत्यासो न ससृजानास आजौ । एते शुक्रासो धन्वन्ति सोमा देवासस्ताँ उप याता पिबध्यै ॥

araśmāno ye'rathā ayuktā atyāso na sasṛjānāsa ājau | ete śukrāso dhanvanti somā devāsastā~ upa yātā pibadhyai ||

These brilliant Soma juices flow like horses let loose inbattle without reins, without chariots, unharnessed; approach them, you gods, to drink.

एवा न इन्दो अभि देववीतिं परि स्रव नभो अर्णश्चमूषु । सोमो अस्मभ्यं काम्यं बृहन्तं रयिं ददातु वीरवन्तमुग्रम् ॥

evā na indo abhi devavītiṃ pari srava nabho arṇaścamūṣu | somo asmabhyaṃ kāmyaṃ bṛhantaṃ rayiṃ dadātu vīravantamugram ||

So, Indu, at our sacrifice pour the water from the firmament into the vessels; may Soma bestow upon us desirable riches in abundance with male offspring and strength.

तक्षद्यदी मनसो वेनतो वाग्ज्येष्ठस्य वा धर्मणि क्षोरनीके । आदीमायन्वरमा वावशाना जुष्टं पतिं कलशे गाव इन्दुम् ॥

takṣadyadī manaso venato vāgjyeṣṭhasya vā dharmaṇi kṣoranīke | ādīmāyanvaramā vāvaśānā juṣṭaṃ patiṃ kalaśe gāva indum ||

When the praise of the zealous worshipper sanctiies him as that of a noisy (crowd) in front (praises) a distinguished (prince) for the support (he affords); then the cows come to the excellent exhilarating Indu, the lord (of all, abiding) in the pitcher, eager to gratify him (with their milk).

प्र दानुदो दिव्यो दानुपिन्व ऋतमृताय पवते सुमेधाः । धर्मा भुवद्वृजन्यस्य राजा प्र रश्मिभिर्दशभिर्भारि भूम ॥

pra dānudo divyo dānupinva ṛtamṛtāya pavate sumedhāḥ | dharmā bhuvadvṛjanyasya rājā pra raśmibhirdaśabhirbhāri bhūma ||

The divine benefactor of givers, poured (boons) on givers, the intelligent (Soma) distils his true beverage for true (Indra); the radiant (Soma) is the upholder of strength, he is entirely restrained by the ten fingers.

पवित्रेभिः पवमानो नृचक्षा राजा देवानामुत मर्त्यानाम् । द्विता भुवद्रयिपती रयीणामृतं भरत्सुभृतं चार्विन्दुः ॥

pavitrebhiḥ pavamāno nṛcakṣā rājā devānāmuta martyānām | dvitā bhuvadrayipatī rayīṇāmṛtaṃ bharatsubhṛtaṃ cārvinduḥ ||

Purified by the filters the observers of man, the sovereign of both gods and mortals, the lord of abundant wealth (Soma), is twofold; Indu bears the auspicious collected water.

अर्वाँ इव श्रवसे सातिमच्छेन्द्रस्य वायोरभि वीतिमर्ष । स नः सहस्रा बृहतीरिषो दा भवा सोम द्रविणोवित्पुनानः ॥

arvā~ iva śravase sātimacchendrasya vāyorabhi vītimarṣa | sa naḥ sahasrā bṛhatīriṣo dā bhavā soma draviṇovitpunānaḥ ||

Hasten (Soma) to give food to Indra and Vāyu like a horse, for (the sake of giving us) food, to acquire wealth; give us abundant thousand-fold food; Soma, when filtered become the dispenser of riches.

देवाव्यो नः परिषिच्यमानाः क्षयं सुवीरं धन्वन्तु सोमाः । आयज्यवः सुमतिं विश्ववारा होतारो न दिवियजो मन्द्रतमाः ॥

devāvyo naḥ pariṣicyamānāḥ kṣayaṃ suvīraṃ dhanvantu somāḥ | āyajyavaḥ sumatiṃ viśvavārā hotāro na diviyajo mandratamāḥ ||

May the Soma juices which are gratifying to the gods when poured around (into the vessels) bring us a dwelling and male offspring-- (the juice) endeavouring to gain the favour (of the gods), desired by all offering (to the gods) in heaven like the ministrant priests, most exhilarating.

एवा देव देवताते पवस्व महे सोम प्सरसे देवपानः । महश्चिद्धि ष्मसि हिताः समर्ये कृधि सुष्ठाने रोदसी पुनानः ॥

evā deva devatāte pavasva mahe soma psarase devapānaḥ | mahaściddhi ṣmasi hitāḥ samarye kṛdhi suṣṭhāne rodasī punānaḥ ||

Divine Soma, who are the beverage of the gods, flow at the sacrifice for (their) abundant food; urged on (by you) may we overcome even mighty (foes) in battle; purified do you render heaven and earth happy abodes (for us).

अश्वो नो क्रदो वृषभिर्युजानः सिंहो न भीमो मनसो जवीयान् । अर्वाचीनैः पथिभिर्ये रजिष्ठा आ पवस्व सौमनसं न इन्दो ॥

aśvo no krado vṛṣabhiryujānaḥ siṃho na bhīmo manaso javīyān | arvācīnaiḥ pathibhirye rajiṣṭhā ā pavasva saumanasaṃ na indo ||

Yoked by the priests, you neigh like a horse, (you are) terrible as a lion, swifter than thought; Indu, pour happiness upon us by those which are the most direct of the paths leading hitherward.

शतं धारा देवजाता असृग्रन्त्सहस्रमेनाः कवयो मृजन्ति । इन्दो सनित्रं दिव आ पवस्व पुरएतासि महतो धनस्य ॥

śataṃ dhārā devajātā asṛgrantsahasramenāḥ kavayo mṛjanti | indo sanitraṃ diva ā pavasva puraetāsi mahato dhanasya ||

Your hundred streams manifested for the gods are loose; the sages cleanse those thousand (streams); pour wealth upon us, Indu, from heaven; you are the precursor of abundant riches.

दिवो न सर्गा अससृग्रमह्नां राजा न मित्रं प्र मिनाति धीरः । पितुर्न पुत्रः क्रतुभिर्यतान आ पवस्व विशे अस्या अजीतिम् ॥

divo na sargā asasṛgramahnāṃ rājā na mitraṃ pra mināti dhīraḥ | piturna putraḥ kratubhiryatāna ā pavasva viśe asyā ajītim ||

As the rays of the days of the sun are let loose (so are the streams of the Soma); a prudent king does not abandon his friend; as a son preserving in pious acts (wins) his father's (safety), do you pour upon this people immunity from defeat.

प्र ते धारा मधुमतीरसृग्रन्वारान्यत्पूतो अत्येष्यव्यान् । पवमान पवसे धाम गोनां जज्ञानः सूर्यमपिन्वो अर्कैः ॥

pra te dhārā madhumatīrasṛgranvārānyatpūto atyeṣyavyān | pavamāna pavase dhāma gonāṃ jajñānaḥ sūryamapinvo arkaiḥ ||

Your exhilarating streams are let loose when you pass purified through the woollen fleece; Pavamāna you flow to the supporting (milk) of the kine, as soon as genitive rated you fill the sun with your radiance.

कनिक्रददनु पन्थामृतस्य शुक्रो वि भास्यमृतस्य धाम । स इन्द्राय पवसे मत्सरवान्हिन्वानो वाचं मतिभिः कवीनाम् ॥

kanikradadanu panthāmṛtasya śukro vi bhāsyamṛtasya dhāma | sa indrāya pavase matsaravānhinvāno vācaṃ matibhiḥ kavīnām ||

(The Soma) cries repeatedly upon the path of the sacrifice; you shine (being) the abode of immortality; possessing exhilaration you flow for Indra, sending forth your voice with the praises of the sages.

दिव्यः सुपर्णोऽव चक्षि सोम पिन्वन्धाराः कर्मणा देववीतौ । एन्दो विश कलशं सोमधानं क्रन्दन्निहि सूर्यस्योप रश्मिम् ॥

divyaḥ suparṇo'va cakṣi soma pinvandhārāḥ karmaṇā devavītau | endo viśa kalaśaṃ somadhānaṃ krandannihi sūryasyopa raśmim ||

Soma, who are celestial, well-winged, you look down from heaven, pouring forth your streams by the pious rite at the sacrifice; Indu, enter into the pitcher the receptacle of the Soma; crying aloud approach the sun's rays.

तिस्रो वाच ईरयति प्र वह्निॠतस्य धीतिं ब्रह्मणो मनीषाम् । गावो यन्ति गोपतिं पृच्छमानाः सोमं यन्ति मतयो वावशानाः ॥

tisro vāca īrayati pra vahniṝtasya dhītiṃ brahmaṇo manīṣām | gāvo yanti gopatiṃ pṛcchamānāḥ somaṃ yanti matayo vāvaśānāḥ ||

The bearer (of the oblation) utters the three praises, the thought of Brahma that sustains the sacrifice; the kine come to the cowherd asking (to be milked), the praisers proceed to the Soma with eagerness.

सोमं गावो धेनवो वावशानाः सोमं विप्रा मतिभिः पृच्छमानाः । सोमः सुतः पूयते अज्यमानः सोमे अर्कास्त्रिष्टुभः सं नवन्ते ॥

somaṃ gāvo dhenavo vāvaśānāḥ somaṃ viprā matibhiḥ pṛcchamānāḥ | somaḥ sutaḥ pūyate ajyamānaḥ some arkāstriṣṭubhaḥ saṃ navante ||

The kine (are) longing for the Soma; wise men (are) inquiring for him with praises; Soma being effused is purified blended (with milk), our adorations in the triṣṭubh metre are united in the Soma.

एवा नः सोम परिषिच्यमान आ पवस्व पूयमानः स्वस्ति । इन्द्रमा विश बृहता रवेण वर्धया वाचं जनया पुरंधिम् ॥

evā naḥ soma pariṣicyamāna ā pavasva pūyamānaḥ svasti | indramā viśa bṛhatā raveṇa vardhayā vācaṃ janayā puraṃdhim ||

Thus poured around (into the vessels), Soma, do you when purified flow for our welfare, enter with a great noise into Indra, foster our praise, genitive rate abundant knowledge in us.

आ जागृविर्विप्र ऋता मतीनां सोमः पुनानो असदच्चमूषु । सपन्ति यं मिथुनासो निकामा अध्वर्यवो रथिरासः सुहस्ताः ॥

ā jāgṛvirvipra ṛtā matīnāṃ somaḥ punāno asadaccamūṣu | sapanti yaṃ mithunāso nikāmā adhvaryavo rathirāsaḥ suhastāḥ ||

The vigilant Soma, the knower of true praises, being purified, has sat down in the vessels-- (the Soma) whom the adhvaryus touch, combined, emulous, leaders of the sacrifice, auspicious-handed.

स पुनान उप सूरे न धातोभे अप्रा रोदसी वि ष आवः । प्रिया चिद्यस्य प्रियसास ऊती स तू धनं कारिणे न प्र यंसत् ॥

sa punāna upa sūre na dhātobhe aprā rodasī vi ṣa āvaḥ | priyā cidyasya priyasāsa ūtī sa tū dhanaṃ kāriṇe na pra yaṃsat ||

The purified (Soma) approaches (Indra) as the year (approaches) the sun, he fills both heaven and earth (with his radiance), he opens (the darkness with his light); may he, the beloved (Soma), whose beloved (streams) are for (our) preservation, bestow upon us wealth like (wages given) to a labourer.

स वर्धिता वर्धनः पूयमानः सोमो मीढ्वाँ अभि नो ज्योतिषावीत् । येना नः पूर्वे पितरः पदज्ञाः स्वर्विदो अभि गा अद्रिमुष्णन् ॥

sa vardhitā vardhanaḥ pūyamānaḥ somo mīḍhvā~ abhi no jyotiṣāvīt | yenā naḥ pūrve pitaraḥ padajñāḥ svarvido abhi gā adrimuṣṇan ||

May Soma the augmenter (of the gods), self-augmenting, being purified, the showerer (of benefits), protect us by his radiance; through whom our forefathers, tracing the footmarks, cognizant of all things, stole the cattle from the rock.

अक्रान्त्समुद्रः प्रथमे विधर्मञ्जनयन्प्रजा भुवनस्य राजा । वृषा पवित्रे अधि सानो अव्ये बृहत्सोमो वावृधे सुवान इन्दुः ॥

akrāntsamudraḥ prathame vidharmañjanayanprajā bhuvanasya rājā | vṛṣā pavitre adhi sāno avye bṛhatsomo vāvṛdhe suvāna induḥ ||

The ocean, the royal (Soma), genitive rating progeny in the outstretched (firmament, the) supporter of the water traverses the universe; the showerer (of benefits), the brilliant Soma when effused increases abundantly in the elevated woollen filter.

महत्तत्सोमो महिषश्चकारापां यद्गर्भोऽवृणीत देवान् । अदधादिन्द्रे पवमान ओजोऽजनयत्सूर्ये ज्योतिरिन्दुः ॥

mahattatsomo mahiṣaścakārāpāṃ yadgarbho'vṛṇīta devān | adadhādindre pavamāna ojo'janayatsūrye jyotirinduḥ ||

The mighty Soma has achieved this mighty (work) that, being the germ of the waters, he has nourished the gods; purified he has given strength to Indra; Indu has genitive rated the light in the sun.

मत्सि वायुमिष्टये राधसे च मत्सि मित्रावरुणा पूयमानः । मत्सि शर्धो मारुतं मत्सि देवान्मत्सि द्यावापृथिवी देव सोम ॥

matsi vāyumiṣṭaye rādhase ca matsi mitrāvaruṇā pūyamānaḥ | matsi śardho mārutaṃ matsi devānmatsi dyāvāpṛthivī deva soma ||

Exhilarate Vāyu for (our) food and wealth, exhilarate Mitra and Varuṇa as soon as you are filtered; exhilarate the company of the Maruts, exhilarate the gods, exhilarate heaven and earth, divine Soma.

ऋजुः पवस्व वृजिनस्य हन्तापामीवां बाधमानो मृधश्च । अभिश्रीणन्पयः पयसाभि गोनामिन्द्रस्य त्वं तव वयं सखायः ॥

ṛjuḥ pavasva vṛjinasya hantāpāmīvāṃ bādhamāno mṛdhaśca | abhiśrīṇanpayaḥ payasābhi gonāmindrasya tvaṃ tava vayaṃ sakhāyaḥ ||

Flow you who are straight going, the slayer of the crooked-goer, driving away disease and enemies; mixing your juice with thejuice of the kine (you go to the cups); (you are) Indra's (friend), we (are) your friends.

मध्वः सूदं पवस्व वस्व उत्सं वीरं च न आ पवस्वा भगं च । स्वदस्वेन्द्राय पवमान इन्दो रयिं च न आ पवस्वा समुद्रात् ॥

madhvaḥ sūdaṃ pavasva vasva utsaṃ vīraṃ ca na ā pavasvā bhagaṃ ca | svadasvendrāya pavamāna indo rayiṃ ca na ā pavasvā samudrāt ||

Pour forth a fountain of wealth distilling sweet juice, pour upon us male offspring and riches; flow sweet for Indra, O Indu, when purified; and pour riches upon us from the firmament.

सोमः सुतो धारयात्यो न हित्वा सिन्धुर्न निम्नमभि वाज्यक्षाः । आ योनिं वन्यमसदत्पुनानः समिन्दुर्गोभिरसरत्समद्भिः ॥

somaḥ suto dhārayātyo na hitvā sindhurna nimnamabhi vājyakṣāḥ | ā yoniṃ vanyamasadatpunānaḥ samindurgobhirasaratsamadbhiḥ ||

The Soma effused in a stream, going like a horse flows powerful like a river down a descent; purified he alights on the wooden abode; Indu mixes with the milk and curds, (mixes) with the water.

एष स्य ते पवत इन्द्र सोमश्चमूषु धीर उशते तवस्वान् । स्वर्चक्षा रथिरः सत्यशुष्मः कामो न यो देवयतामसर्जि ॥

eṣa sya te pavata indra somaścamūṣu dhīra uśate tavasvān | svarcakṣā rathiraḥ satyaśuṣmaḥ kāmo na yo devayatāmasarji ||

The following sagacious Soma flows into the cups, Indra, for you, who long (for him)--all-seeing, car-borne, of adequate vigour, who has been sent forth like the wish of the god-desiring (worshippers).

एष प्रत्नेन वयसा पुनानस्तिरो वर्पांसि दुहितुर्दधानः । वसानः शर्म त्रिवरूथमप्सु होतेव याति समनेषु रेभन् ॥

eṣa pratnena vayasā punānastiro varpāṃsi duhiturdadhānaḥ | vasānaḥ śarma trivarūthamapsu hoteva yāti samaneṣu rebhan ||

Flowing with (his) ancient food, enveloping the forms of the earth, covering the house of sacrifice which has a threefold protection, (plural ced) in the waters he advances calling aloud at the oblations like a ministrant priest.

नू नस्त्वं रथिरो देव सोम परि स्रव चम्वोः पूयमानः । अप्सु स्वादिष्ठो मधुमाँ ऋतावा देवो न यः सविता सत्यमन्मा ॥

nū nastvaṃ rathiro deva soma pari srava camvoḥ pūyamānaḥ | apsu svādiṣṭho madhumā~ ṛtāvā devo na yaḥ savitā satyamanmā ||

Divine Soma, who are car-borne, being filtered (at) our (sacrifice), flow quickly into the cups; most sweet-flavoured in the waters, full of delight, offered at the sacrifice, stimulator of all, who like a god are the object of true praise.

अभि वायुं वीत्यर्षा गृणानोऽभि मित्रावरुणा पूयमानः । अभी नरं धीजवनं रथेष्ठामभीन्द्रं वृषणं वज्रबाहुम् ॥

abhi vāyuṃ vītyarṣā gṛṇāno'bhi mitrāvaruṇā pūyamānaḥ | abhī naraṃ dhījavanaṃ ratheṣṭhāmabhīndraṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ vajrabāhum ||

Being eulogized, hasten to Vāyu, for (him to) drink; being purified, hasten to Mitra and Varuṇa; (hasten) to the leader, who is quick as thought, mounted on a car, to Indra, the showerer, the wielder of the thunderbolt.

अभि वस्त्रा सुवसनान्यर्षाभि धेनूः सुदुघाः पूयमानः । अभि चन्द्रा भर्तवे नो हिरण्याभ्यश्वान्रथिनो देव सोम ॥

abhi vastrā suvasanānyarṣābhi dhenūḥ sudughāḥ pūyamānaḥ | abhi candrā bhartave no hiraṇyābhyaśvānrathino deva soma ||

Bring us handsome garments, bring us, when you are purified, cows easily milked; bring for our maintenance gratifying gold; divine Soma, bring us horses fit for chariots.

अभी नो अर्ष दिव्या वसून्यभि विश्वा पार्थिवा पूयमानः । अभि येन द्रविणमश्नवामाभ्यार्षेयं जमदग्निवन्नः ॥

abhī no arṣa divyā vasūnyabhi viśvā pārthivā pūyamānaḥ | abhi yena draviṇamaśnavāmābhyārṣeyaṃ jamadagnivannaḥ ||

Bring us celestial treasures, bring us all erthly (treasures) when you are purified; bring us (the ability) whereby we may acquire riches, make our sacred prayer (sweet) as Jamadagni.

अया पवा पवस्वैना वसूनि माँश्चत्व इन्दो सरसि प्र धन्व । ब्रध्नश्चिदत्र वातो न जूतः पुरुमेधश्चित्तकवे नरं दात् ॥

ayā pavā pavasvainā vasūni mā~ścatva indo sarasi pra dhanva | bradhnaścidatra vāto na jūtaḥ purumedhaścittakave naraṃ dāt ||

With this filtered stream pour on us those treasures; do you, Indu, advance to the brown water; at this rite may the sun, rapid as the wind, may (Indra) the object of many sacrifices grant a son to me approaching (the Soma).

उत न एना पवया पवस्वाधि श्रुते श्रवाय्यस्य तीर्थे । षष्टिं सहस्रा नैगुतो वसूनि वृक्षं न पक्वं धूनवद्रणाय ॥

uta na enā pavayā pavasvādhi śrute śravāyyasya tīrthe | ṣaṣṭiṃ sahasrā naiguto vasūni vṛkṣaṃ na pakvaṃ dhūnavadraṇāya ||

And flow with this filtered stream at the renowned station ofyou who are worthy of renown; (the Soma) the destroyer of enemies has shaken down (for us) sixty thousand treasures for victory as (one shakes) a tree whose fruit is ripe.

महीमे अस्य वृषनाम शूषे माँश्चत्वे वा पृशने वा वधत्रे । अस्वापयन्निगुतः स्नेहयच्चापामित्राँ अपाचितो अचेतः ॥

mahīme asya vṛṣanāma śūṣe mā~ścatve vā pṛśane vā vadhatre | asvāpayannigutaḥ snehayaccāpāmitrā~ apācito acetaḥ ||

These two great acts, the raining (of arrows) and the humiliation (of foes), are the givers of happiness; they are deadly either in a fight on horseback or in a hand to hand fight; he has put the foes to sleep and driven them away; doyou (Soma) drive away the enemies and unbelievers.

सं त्री पवित्रा विततान्येष्यन्वेकं धावसि पूयमानः । असि भगो असि दात्रस्य दातासि मघवा मघवद्भ्य इन्दो ॥

saṃ trī pavitrā vitatānyeṣyanvekaṃ dhāvasi pūyamānaḥ | asi bhago asi dātrasya dātāsi maghavā maghavadbhya indo ||

You reach the three outstretched filters, you hasten to the one (filter) being purified; you are Bhaga, you are the donor of gifts, you Indu are more affluent than the affluent.

एष विश्ववित्पवते मनीषी सोमो विश्वस्य भुवनस्य राजा । द्रप्साँ ईरयन्विदथेष्विन्दुर्वि वारमव्यं समयाति याति ॥

eṣa viśvavitpavate manīṣī somo viśvasya bhuvanasya rājā | drapsā~ īrayanvidatheṣvindurvi vāramavyaṃ samayāti yāti ||

This all-knowing sage Soma, the sovereign of the whole world, flows forth; distilling his drops at the sacrifices, Indu passes through the sheep's hair on both sides.

इन्दुं रिहन्ति महिषा अदब्धाः पदे रेभन्ति कवयो न गृध्राः । हिन्वन्ति धीरा दशभिः क्षिपाभिः समञ्जते रूपमपां रसेन ॥

induṃ rihanti mahiṣā adabdhāḥ pade rebhanti kavayo na gṛdhrāḥ | hinvanti dhīrā daśabhiḥ kṣipābhiḥ samañjate rūpamapāṃ rasena ||

The adorable, unassailable (deities) sip the Soma juice, they hail it at its station like worshippers greedy (of wealth); the skilful priests send forth the Soma with their ten fingers, they anoint its body with the fluid of the waters.

त्वया वयं पवमानेन सोम भरे कृतं वि चिनुयाम शश्वत् । तन्नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पृथिवी उत द्यौः ॥

tvayā vayaṃ pavamānena soma bhare kṛtaṃ vi cinuyāma śaśvat | tanno mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ ||

May we ever, Soma, with you who are purified, (as our ally) win much wealth in battle; so may Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi, Sindhu, heaven and earth enrich us.
