त्वं सोमासि धारयुर्मन्द्र ओजिष्ठो अध्वरे । पवस्व मंहयद्रयिः ॥

tvaṃ somāsi dhārayurmandra ojiṣṭho adhvare | pavasva maṃhayadrayiḥ ||

You, Soma, who are most exhilarating, most powerful, are disposed to shed your stream at our sacrifice; flow then you who are the giver or riches.

त्वं सुतो नृमादनो दधन्वान्मत्सरिन्तमः । इन्द्राय सूरिरन्धसा ॥

tvaṃ suto nṛmādano dadhanvānmatsarintamaḥ | indrāya sūrirandhasā ||

You who are the exhilarator o fthe priests, bestowing (wealth upon them) and intelligent, do you when effused together with food be the especial cause of exhilaration to Indra.

त्वं सुष्वाणो अद्रिभिरभ्यर्ष कनिक्रदत् । द्युमन्तं शुष्ममुत्तमम् ॥

tvaṃ suṣvāṇo adribhirabhyarṣa kanikradat | dyumantaṃ śuṣmamuttamam ||

Do you when effused by the stones proceed resounding (to the vessel); (grant) bright excellent strength.

इन्दुर्हिन्वानो अर्षति तिरो वाराण्यव्यया । हरिर्वाजमचिक्रदत् ॥

indurhinvāno arṣati tiro vārāṇyavyayā | harirvājamacikradat ||

Indu effused (by the stones) passes through the woollen filter; green-tinted he roars forth food.

इन्दो व्यव्यमर्षसि वि श्रवांसि वि सौभगा । वि वाजान्त्सोम गोमतः ॥

indo vyavyamarṣasi vi śravāṃsi vi saubhagā | vi vājāntsoma gomataḥ ||

Indu, you have flowed through the fleece, you grant us food and wealth; (therefore grant us), Soma, strength of flocks.

आ न इन्दो शतग्विनं रयिं गोमन्तमश्विनम् । भरा सोम सहस्रिणम् ॥

ā na indo śatagvinaṃ rayiṃ gomantamaśvinam | bharā soma sahasriṇam ||

Indu, Soma, bring us thousand-fold wealth, consisting of hundreds of cows, having excellent cows and horses.

पवमानास इन्दवस्तिरः पवित्रमाशवः । इन्द्रं यामेभिराशत ॥

pavamānāsa indavastiraḥ pavitramāśavaḥ | indraṃ yāmebhirāśata ||

The purified swift-flowing Soma-juices passing hrough the filter reach Indra by their own paths.

ककुहः सोम्यो रस इन्दुरिन्द्राय पूर्व्यः । आयुः पवत आयवे ॥

kakuhaḥ somyo rasa indurindrāya pūrvyaḥ | āyuḥ pavata āyave ||

The excellent juice of the Soma dropping (into the vessels) poured forth by men of old, the goer (to Indra), is filtered for Indra the goer.

हिन्वन्ति सूरमुस्रयः पवमानं मधुश्चुतम् । अभि गिरा समस्वरन् ॥

hinvanti sūramusrayaḥ pavamānaṃ madhuścutam | abhi girā samasvaran ||

The fingers express the purified honey-dropping heroic Soma; (the worshippers) hail him with praise.

अविता नो अजाश्वः पूषा यामनियामनि । आ भक्षत्कन्यासु नः ॥

avitā no ajāśvaḥ pūṣā yāmaniyāmani | ā bhakṣatkanyāsu naḥ ||

May the goat-borne Pūṣan in all his paths be our protector; may he bestow maidens on us.

अयं सोमः कपर्दिने घृतं न पवते मधु । आ भक्षत्कन्यासु नः ॥

ayaṃ somaḥ kapardine ghṛtaṃ na pavate madhu | ā bhakṣatkanyāsu naḥ ||

This Soma flows to Pūṣan, who wears a beautiful tiara like exhilarating ghī; may he bestow maidens on us.

अयं त आघृणे सुतो घृतं न पवते शुचि । आ भक्षत्कन्यासु नः ॥

ayaṃ ta āghṛṇe suto ghṛtaṃ na pavate śuci | ā bhakṣatkanyāsu naḥ ||

This Soma poured for you, shining (Pūṣan) flows like pure ghī; may he bestow maidens on us.

वाचो जन्तुः कवीनां पवस्व सोम धारया । देवेषु रत्नधा असि ॥

vāco jantuḥ kavīnāṃ pavasva soma dhārayā | deveṣu ratnadhā asi ||

Soma, genitive rator of the praises of the wise, flow in a stream; you are the dispenser of treasure among the gods.

आ कलशेषु धावति श्येनो वर्म वि गाहते । अभि द्रोणा कनिक्रदत् ॥

ā kalaśeṣu dhāvati śyeno varma vi gāhate | abhi droṇā kanikradat ||

He has flowed to the vessels as a falcon enters its nest and enters the wooden (vessels) with a cry.

परि प्र सोम ते रसोऽसर्जि कलशे सुतः । श्येनो न तक्तो अर्षति ॥

pari pra soma te raso'sarji kalaśe sutaḥ | śyeno na takto arṣati ||

Your juice, Soma, spreads around when effused into the vessel as a swift falcon rushes along.

पवस्व सोम मन्दयन्निन्द्राय मधुमत्तमः ॥

pavasva soma mandayannindrāya madhumattamaḥ ||

Flow, Soma, who are most sweet-flavoured, giving exhilaration to Indra.

असृग्रन्देववीतये वाजयन्तो रथा इव ॥

asṛgrandevavītaye vājayanto rathā iva ||

(The Soma-juices) are let loose for the banquet of the gods like chariots desiring the wealth (of the enemy).

ते सुतासो मदिन्तमाः शुक्रा वायुमसृक्षत ॥

te sutāso madintamāḥ śukrā vāyumasṛkṣata ||

These effused (Soma-juices), brilliant and extremely exhilarating, are let forth for Vāyu.

ग्राव्णा तुन्नो अभिष्टुतः पवित्रं सोम गच्छसि । दधत्स्तोत्रे सुवीर्यम् ॥

grāvṇā tunno abhiṣṭutaḥ pavitraṃ soma gacchasi | dadhatstotre suvīryam ||

Bruised with the stones and effused (by the worshippers), you, Soma; enter the filter, bestowing upon your praiser (wealth), accompanied with excellent male offspring.

एष तुन्नो अभिष्टुतः पवित्रमति गाहते । रक्षोहा वारमव्ययम् ॥

eṣa tunno abhiṣṭutaḥ pavitramati gāhate | rakṣohā vāramavyayam ||

This (Soma), bruised (with the stones), and praised by (all), the slayer of rākṣasas, plural nge through the woollen filter (into the vessel).

यदन्ति यच्च दूरके भयं विन्दति मामिह । पवमान वि तज्जहि ॥

yadanti yacca dūrake bhayaṃ vindati māmiha | pavamāna vi tajjahi ||

Whatever fear seizes me, near, afar off, or here, purified (Soma) dispel that (fear).

पवमानः सो अद्य नः पवित्रेण विचर्षणिः । यः पोता स पुनातु नः ॥

pavamānaḥ so adya naḥ pavitreṇa vicarṣaṇiḥ | yaḥ potā sa punātu naḥ ||

May that purified Soma, the beholder of all, who is the purifier, purify us now by his purifying (might).

यत्ते पवित्रमर्चिष्यग्ने विततमन्तरा । ब्रह्म तेन पुनीहि नः ॥

yatte pavitramarciṣyagne vitatamantarā | brahma tena punīhi naḥ ||

Purify, Agni, our divine (body) with your purifying (light), which is diffused in the midst of the light.

यत्ते पवित्रमर्चिवदग्ने तेन पुनीहि नः । ब्रह्मसवैः पुनीहि नः ॥

yatte pavitramarcivadagne tena punīhi naḥ | brahmasavaiḥ punīhi naḥ ||

Purify us, Agni, with your purifying (light) which possesses the light; purify us with the effusion of the Soma.

उभाभ्यां देव सवितः पवित्रेण सवेन च । मां पुनीहि विश्वतः ॥

ubhābhyāṃ deva savitaḥ pavitreṇa savena ca | māṃ punīhi viśvataḥ ||

Shining (Soma), urger of all things, purify me by both, by your purifying (light) and by the effusion (of the Soma); purify me in every way

त्रिभिष्ट्वं देव सवितर्वर्षिष्ठैः सोम धामभिः । अग्ने दक्षैः पुनीहि नः ॥

tribhiṣṭvaṃ deva savitarvarṣiṣṭhaiḥ soma dhāmabhiḥ | agne dakṣaiḥ punīhi naḥ ||

Purify us, shining Agni Pavamāna, urger of all things, with your three most mighty powerful forms.

पुनन्तु मां देवजनाः पुनन्तु वसवो धिया । विश्वे देवाः पुनीत मा जातवेदः पुनीहि मा ॥

punantu māṃ devajanāḥ punantu vasavo dhiyā | viśve devāḥ punīta mā jātavedaḥ punīhi mā ||

May the worshippers purify me, may the Vasus purify (me) by their acts; purify me, all you gods, (Agni) the intelligent purify me.

प्र प्यायस्व प्र स्यन्दस्व सोम विश्वेभिरंशुभिः । देवेभ्य उत्तमं हविः ॥

pra pyāyasva pra syandasva soma viśvebhiraṃśubhiḥ | devebhya uttamaṃ haviḥ ||

Soma, nourish (us), pour forth for the gods with all your juices the most excellent oblation.

उप प्रियं पनिप्नतं युवानमाहुतीवृधम् । अगन्म बिभ्रतो नमः ॥

upa priyaṃ panipnataṃ yuvānamāhutīvṛdham | aganma bibhrato namaḥ ||

Let us approach bearing the beloved loud-sounding youthful oblation fostered by our offerings.

अलाय्यस्य परशुर्ननाश तमा पवस्व देव सोम । आखुं चिदेव देव सोम ॥

alāyyasya paraśurnanāśa tamā pavasva deva soma | ākhuṃ cideva deva soma ||

May the battle-axe of the foe destroy the foe; alone flow tous, bright Soma; (slay) the villain only, bright Soma.

यः पावमानीरध्येत्यृषिभिः सम्भृतं रसम् । सर्वं स पूतमश्नाति स्वदितं मातरिश्वना ॥

yaḥ pāvamānīradhyetyṛṣibhiḥ sambhṛtaṃ rasam | sarvaṃ sa pūtamaśnāti svaditaṃ mātariśvanā ||

He who reads the hymns to Pavamāna, the essence (of the Veda) collected by the ṛṣis, enjoys all (his food) purified, sweetened by Mātariśvan.

पावमानीर्यो अध्येत्यृषिभिः सम्भृतं रसम् । तस्मै सरस्वती दुहे क्षीरं सर्पिर्मधूदकम् ॥

pāvamānīryo adhyetyṛṣibhiḥ sambhṛtaṃ rasam | tasmai sarasvatī duhe kṣīraṃ sarpirmadhūdakam ||

For him who reads the hymns to Pavamāna, the essence (of the Veda) collected by the ṛṣis, Sarasvatī milks milk, ghee and exhilarating Soma.
