[rv-9-109] • 22 श्लोकाः

परि प्र धन्वेन्द्राय सोम स्वादुर्मित्राय पूष्णे भगाय ॥

pari pra dhanvendrāya soma svādurmitrāya pūṣṇe bhagāya ||

Flow, Soma who are sweet-flavoured, for Indra, Mitra, Pūṣan, and Bhaga.

इन्द्रस्ते सोम सुतस्य पेयाः क्रत्वे दक्षाय विश्वे च देवाः ॥

indraste soma sutasya peyāḥ kratve dakṣāya viśve ca devāḥ ||

Soma, let Indra and all the gods drink of you when effused for intelligence and strength.

एवामृताय महे क्षयाय स शुक्रो अर्ष दिव्यः पीयूषः ॥

evāmṛtāya mahe kṣayāya sa śukro arṣa divyaḥ pīyūṣaḥ ||

So do you who are pure, divine, the beverage of all the gods, flow for immortality and a spacious abode.

पवस्व सोम महान्त्समुद्रः पिता देवानां विश्वाभि धाम ॥

pavasva soma mahāntsamudraḥ pitā devānāṃ viśvābhi dhāma ||

Flow, Soma, who are mighty, the shedder of juice the parent of the gods, towards all bodies.

शुक्रः पवस्व देवेभ्यः सोम दिवे पृथिव्यै शं च प्रजायै ॥

śukraḥ pavasva devebhyaḥ soma dive pṛthivyai śaṃ ca prajāyai ||

Soma, who are brilliant, flow for the gods and (give) joy to heaven and earth and all creatures.

दिवो धर्तासि शुक्रः पीयूषः सत्ये विधर्मन्वाजी पवस्व ॥

divo dhartāsi śukraḥ pīyūṣaḥ satye vidharmanvājī pavasva ||

You are the upholder of heaven, radiant and good to drink; flow you who are strong, at the truthful sacrifice.

पवस्व सोम द्युम्नी सुधारो महामवीनामनु पूर्व्यः ॥

pavasva soma dyumnī sudhāro mahāmavīnāmanu pūrvyaḥ ||

Do you, Soma, who are possessed of food, who have a copious stream, flow through the great sheep's hairs in due succession.

नृभिर्येमानो जज्ञानः पूतः क्षरद्विश्वानि मन्द्रः स्वर्वित् ॥

nṛbhiryemāno jajñānaḥ pūtaḥ kṣaradviśvāni mandraḥ svarvit ||

May, the Soma regulated by the priests, engendered, purified, exhilarating, all-knowing bring us all (riches).

इन्दुः पुनानः प्रजामुराणः करद्विश्वानि द्रविणानि नः ॥

induḥ punānaḥ prajāmurāṇaḥ karadviśvāni draviṇāni naḥ ||

May Indu, purified, extolling (the gods) bestow on us progeny and all kinds of wealth.

पवस्व सोम क्रत्वे दक्षायाश्वो न निक्तो वाजी धनाय ॥

pavasva soma kratve dakṣāyāśvo na nikto vājī dhanāya ||

Flow, Soma, for intelligence, for strength, for wealth, strong and cleansed like a horse.

तं ते सोतारो रसं मदाय पुनन्ति सोमं महे द्युम्नाय ॥

taṃ te sotāro rasaṃ madāya punanti somaṃ mahe dyumnāya ||

(The priests) who press you purify your juice for exhilaration; (they purify) the Soma for abundant food.

शिशुं जज्ञानं हरिं मृजन्ति पवित्रे सोमं देवेभ्य इन्दुम् ॥

śiśuṃ jajñānaṃ hariṃ mṛjanti pavitre somaṃ devebhya indum ||

They cleanse the new-born infant, the green-tinted shining Soma, on the filter for the gods.

इन्दुः पविष्ट चारुर्मदायापामुपस्थे कविर्भगाय ॥

induḥ paviṣṭa cārurmadāyāpāmupasthe kavirbhagāya ||

The auspicious sage Indu flows upon the lap of the waters for exhilaration and for wealth.

बिभर्ति चार्विन्द्रस्य नाम येन विश्वानि वृत्रा जघान ॥

bibharti cārvindrasya nāma yena viśvāni vṛtrā jaghāna ||

The auspicious (Soma) sustains Indra's body, by which he has slain all rākṣasas.

पिबन्त्यस्य विश्वे देवासो गोभिः श्रीतस्य नृभिः सुतस्य ॥

pibantyasya viśve devāso gobhiḥ śrītasya nṛbhiḥ sutasya ||

The universal gods drink of it, effused by the priests, mixed with milk and curds.

प्र सुवानो अक्षाः सहस्रधारस्तिरः पवित्रं वि वारमव्यम् ॥

pra suvāno akṣāḥ sahasradhārastiraḥ pavitraṃ vi vāramavyam ||

Being effused the Soma in a thousand streams flows through the sheep's-hair filter.

स वाज्यक्षाः सहस्ररेता अद्भिर्मृजानो गोभिः श्रीणानः ॥

sa vājyakṣāḥ sahasraretā adbhirmṛjāno gobhiḥ śrīṇānaḥ ||

The vigorous Soma flows in a thousand streams cleansed by the waters and mixing with the curds and milk.

प्र सोम याहीन्द्रस्य कुक्षा नृभिर्येमानो अद्रिभिः सुतः ॥

pra soma yāhīndrasya kukṣā nṛbhiryemāno adribhiḥ sutaḥ ||

Guided by the priests and effused with the stones go, Soma, to Indra's belly.

असर्जि वाजी तिरः पवित्रमिन्द्राय सोमः सहस्रधारः ॥

asarji vājī tiraḥ pavitramindrāya somaḥ sahasradhāraḥ ||

The vigorous thousand-streamed Soma has been sent through, the filter for Indra.

अञ्जन्त्येनं मध्वो रसेनेन्द्राय वृष्ण इन्दुं मदाय ॥

añjantyenaṃ madhvo rasenendrāya vṛṣṇa induṃ madāya ||

They mix the Soma with the liquid of the sweet (milk) for Indra, the showerer (of benefits) for his exhilaration.

देवेभ्यस्त्वा वृथा पाजसेऽपो वसानं हरिं मृजन्ति ॥

devebhyastvā vṛthā pājase'po vasānaṃ hariṃ mṛjanti ||

They cleanse you readily, clothed with water, green-tinted, for the invigoration of the gods.

इन्दुरिन्द्राय तोशते नि तोशते श्रीणन्नुग्रो रिणन्नपः ॥

indurindrāya tośate ni tośate śrīṇannugro riṇannapaḥ ||

Indu is effused for Indra's, is effused downward-- fierce, mixing (with the milk), flowing (into) the water.
