[rv-9-110] • 12 श्लोकाः

पर्यू षु प्र धन्व वाजसातये परि वृत्राणि सक्षणिः । द्विषस्तरध्या ऋणया न ईयसे ॥

paryū ṣu pra dhanva vājasātaye pari vṛtrāṇi sakṣaṇiḥ | dviṣastaradhyā ṛṇayā na īyase ||

Hasten, Soma, to bring us sustenance; gifted with endurance (attack our) foes; the acquitter of our debts, you approach to disperse our enemies.

अनु हि त्वा सुतं सोम मदामसि महे समर्यराज्ये । वाजाँ अभि पवमान प्र गाहसे ॥

anu hi tvā sutaṃ soma madāmasi mahe samaryarājye | vājā~ abhi pavamāna pra gāhase ||

In turn we glorify you, Soma, when effused; you attack the (hostile) forces, O Pavamāna, to (defend) your great sovereignty over men.

अजीजनो हि पवमान सूर्यं विधारे शक्मना पयः । गोजीरया रंहमाणः पुरंध्या ॥

ajījano hi pavamāna sūryaṃ vidhāre śakmanā payaḥ | gojīrayā raṃhamāṇaḥ puraṃdhyā ||

Pavamāna, by your might you ahve genitive rated the sun in (the firmament), the support of the water, hastening on with abundant wisdom that procures cattle (for your worshippers).

अजीजनो अमृत मर्त्येष्वाँ ऋतस्य धर्मन्नमृतस्य चारुणः । सदासरो वाजमच्छा सनिष्यदत् ॥

ajījano amṛta martyeṣvā~ ṛtasya dharmannamṛtasya cāruṇaḥ | sadāsaro vājamacchā saniṣyadat ||

Immortal Soma, you have genitive rated (the sun) among mortals in (the firmament), the suppor tof the truthful auspicious ambrosia; streaming forth you goe to battle continually.

अभ्यभि हि श्रवसा ततर्दिथोत्सं न कं चिज्जनपानमक्षितम् । शर्याभिर्न भरमाणो गभस्त्योः ॥

abhyabhi hi śravasā tatardithotsaṃ na kaṃ cijjanapānamakṣitam | śaryābhirna bharamāṇo gabhastyoḥ ||

You have burst open (the filter) with (your) food as (one bursts open) an inexhaustible fountain giving drink to the nation, like one taking up (water) with the fingers of his two hands.

आदीं के चित्पश्यमानास आप्यं वसुरुचो दिव्या अभ्यनूषत । वारं न देवः सविता व्यूर्णुते ॥

ādīṃ ke citpaśyamānāsa āpyaṃ vasuruco divyā abhyanūṣata | vāraṃ na devaḥ savitā vyūrṇute ||

Beholding him certain celestial Vasurucas praise him as a kinsman before the shining Savitā drives away the obstructing (darkness).

त्वे सोम प्रथमा वृक्तबर्हिषो महे वाजाय श्रवसे धियं दधुः । स त्वं नो वीर वीर्याय चोदय ॥

tve soma prathamā vṛktabarhiṣo mahe vājāya śravase dhiyaṃ dadhuḥ | sa tvaṃ no vīra vīryāya codaya ||

The chief (of men) having cut the sacred grass have fixed their minds, Soma, on you for abundant strength and food; do you, O hero, excite us to heroism.

दिवः पीयूषं पूर्व्यं यदुक्थ्यं महो गाहाद्दिव आ निरधुक्षत । इन्द्रमभि जायमानं समस्वरन् ॥

divaḥ pīyūṣaṃ pūrvyaṃ yadukthyaṃ maho gāhāddiva ā niradhukṣata | indramabhi jāyamānaṃ samasvaran ||

They have milked from heaven from the mighty deep the ancient Soma, the beverage (of the gods) of heaven, which is worthy of praise; they have praised it when genitive rated for Indra.

अध यदिमे पवमान रोदसी इमा च विश्वा भुवनाभि मज्मना । यूथे न निष्ठा वृषभो वि तिष्ठसे ॥

adha yadime pavamāna rodasī imā ca viśvā bhuvanābhi majmanā | yūthe na niṣṭhā vṛṣabho vi tiṣṭhase ||

Since, Pavamāna, you by your might are chief over these two worlds and all these living beings, as a bull is ruler in a herd of kine.

सोमः पुनानो अव्यये वारे शिशुर्न क्रीऴन्पवमानो अक्षाः । सहस्रधारः शतवाज इन्दुः ॥

somaḥ punāno avyaye vāre śiśurna krīḻanpavamāno akṣāḥ | sahasradhāraḥ śatavāja induḥ ||

Pavamāna Soma sporting like a child drops filtered through the woollen fleece, thousand-streamed, having the might of a hundred, radiant.

एष पुनानो मधुमाँ ऋतावेन्द्रायेन्दुः पवते स्वादुरूर्मिः । वाजसनिर्वरिवोविद्वयोधाः ॥

eṣa punāno madhumā~ ṛtāvendrāyenduḥ pavate svādurūrmiḥ | vājasanirvarivovidvayodhāḥ ||

This Soma juice undergoing purification, sweet-flavoured, holy, dropping; flows for Indra a sweet stream, bestowing food, dispensing wealth and life.

स पवस्व सहमानः पृतन्यून्त्सेधन्रक्षांस्यप दुर्गहाणि । स्वायुधः सासह्वान्त्सोम शत्रून् ॥

sa pavasva sahamānaḥ pṛtanyūntsedhanrakṣāṃsyapa durgahāṇi | svāyudhaḥ sāsahvāntsoma śatrūn ||

Flow, Soma, overcoming (our) enemies, driving away the rākṣasas who are difficult to approach, well-armed, triumphing over foes.
