[rv-7-94] • 12 श्लोकाः

इयं वामस्य मन्मन इन्द्राग्नी पूर्व्यस्तुतिः । अभ्राद्वृष्टिरिवाजनि ॥

iyaṃ vāmasya manmana indrāgnī pūrvyastutiḥ | abhrādvṛṣṭirivājani ||

This chief praise, Indra and Agni, proceeds (copiously) from me your worshipper, like rain from a cloud.

शृणुतं जरितुर्हवमिन्द्राग्नी वनतं गिरः । ईशाना पिप्यतं धियः ॥

śṛṇutaṃ jariturhavamindrāgnī vanataṃ giraḥ | īśānā pipyataṃ dhiyaḥ ||

Hear, Indra and Agni, the invocation of the worshipper; accept his adoration. Recompense, lords, hispious acts.

मा पापत्वाय नो नरेन्द्राग्नी माभिशस्तये । मा नो रीरधतं निदे ॥

mā pāpatvāya no narendrāgnī mābhiśastaye | mā no rīradhataṃ nide ||

Leaders of (rites), Indra and Agni, subject us not to wickedness, nor to calumny, nor to the reviler.

इन्द्रे अग्ना नमो बृहत्सुवृक्तिमेरयामहे । धिया धेना अवस्यवः ॥

indre agnā namo bṛhatsuvṛktimerayāmahe | dhiyā dhenā avasyavaḥ ||

Desiring protection, we offer copious oblations and praise to Indra and Agni, and prayers with holy rites.

ता हि शश्वन्त ईऴत इत्था विप्रास ऊतये । सबाधो वाजसातये ॥

tā hi śaśvanta īḻata itthā viprāsa ūtaye | sabādho vājasātaye ||

Many are the sages who propitiate (Indra and Agni) in this manner for (their) protection, mutuallystriving for the acquisition of food.

ता वां गीर्भिर्विपन्यवः प्रयस्वन्तो हवामहे । मेधसाता सनिष्यवः ॥

tā vāṃ gīrbhirvipanyavaḥ prayasvanto havāmahe | medhasātā saniṣyavaḥ ||

Eager to offer praise, bearing (sacrificial) food, desirous of wealth, we invoke you, Indra and Agni, withpraises, in the celebration of holy acts.

इन्द्राग्नी अवसा गतमस्मभ्यं चर्षणीसहा । मा नो दुःशंस ईशत ॥

indrāgnī avasā gatamasmabhyaṃ carṣaṇīsahā | mā no duḥśaṃsa īśata ||

Overcomers of (hostile) men, Indra and Agni, come wiḥ food (to be bestowed) upon us; let not themalevolent have power over us.

मा कस्य नो अररुषो धूर्तिः प्रणङ्मर्त्यस्य । इन्द्राग्नी शर्म यच्छतम् ॥

mā kasya no araruṣo dhūrtiḥ praṇaṅmartyasya | indrāgnī śarma yacchatam ||

Let not the malice of any hostile mortal reach us; gran us, Indra and Agni, felicity.

गोमद्धिरण्यवद्वसु यद्वामश्वावदीमहे । इन्द्राग्नी तद्वनेमहि ॥

gomaddhiraṇyavadvasu yadvāmaśvāvadīmahe | indrāgnī tadvanemahi ||

We solicit you both for wealth, comprising cattle, gold and horses; may we obtain it for you, Indra andAgni.

यत्सोम आ सुते नर इन्द्राग्नी अजोहवुः । सप्तीवन्ता सपर्यवः ॥

yatsoma ā sute nara indrāgnī ajohavuḥ | saptīvantā saparyavaḥ ||

When adoring leaders (of rites), invoke you two, lords of horses, on the Soma being offered, (comehither).

उक्थेभिर्वृत्रहन्तमा या मन्दाना चिदा गिरा । आङ्गूषैराविवासतः ॥

ukthebhirvṛtrahantamā yā mandānā cidā girā | āṅgūṣairāvivāsataḥ ||

Utter destroyers of Vṛtra, exhilarated (by the Soma), you who are worshipped with prayers and hymnsand songs, (come hither).

ताविद्दुःशंसं मर्त्यं दुर्विद्वांसं रक्षस्विनम् । आभोगं हन्मना हतमुदधिं हन्मना हतम् ॥

tāvidduḥśaṃsaṃ martyaṃ durvidvāṃsaṃ rakṣasvinam | ābhogaṃ hanmanā hatamudadhiṃ hanmanā hatam ||

Destroy with your fatal (weapons) the mortal who is malignant, ignorant, strong, rapacious; destroy himlike a water jar, with your weapons.
