[rv-7-93] • 8 श्लोकाः

शुचिं नु स्तोमं नवजातमद्येन्द्राग्नी वृत्रहणा जुषेथाम् । उभा हि वां सुहवा जोहवीमि ता वाजं सद्य उशते धेष्ठा ॥

śuciṃ nu stomaṃ navajātamadyendrāgnī vṛtrahaṇā juṣethām | ubhā hi vāṃ suhavā johavīmi tā vājaṃ sadya uśate dheṣṭhā ||

Slayers of enemies, Indra and Agni, be plural ased today by this pious and newly recited praise; repeatedlydo we invoke you both, who are worthy of invocation; you are the chief bestowers of food promptly upon him whosolicits (it of you).

ता सानसी शवसाना हि भूतं साकंवृधा शवसा शूशुवांसा । क्षयन्तौ रायो यवसस्य भूरेः पृङ्क्तं वाजस्य स्थविरस्य घृष्वेः ॥

tā sānasī śavasānā hi bhūtaṃ sākaṃvṛdhā śavasā śūśuvāṃsā | kṣayantau rāyo yavasasya bhūreḥ pṛṅktaṃ vājasya sthavirasya ghṛṣveḥ ||

You two are desired of all, the demolishers of (hostile) strength, augmenting together, increasing invigour, lords of the wealth of corn; do you grant us substantial invigorating food.

उपो ह यद्विदथं वाजिनो गुर्धीभिर्विप्राः प्रमतिमिच्छमानाः । अर्वन्तो न काष्ठां नक्षमाणा इन्द्राग्नी जोहुवतो नरस्ते ॥

upo ha yadvidathaṃ vājino gurdhībhirviprāḥ pramatimicchamānāḥ | arvanto na kāṣṭhāṃ nakṣamāṇā indrāgnī johuvato naraste ||

Those sage offerers of oblations, who, desiring your favour, celebrate the sacrifice with holy rites,hasten to worship you, like horse to battle, repeatedly invoking Indra and Agni.

गीर्भिर्विप्रः प्रमतिमिच्छमान ईट्टे रयिं यशसं पूर्वभाजम् । इन्द्राग्नी वृत्रहणा सुवज्रा प्र नो नव्येभिस्तिरतं देष्णैः ॥

gīrbhirvipraḥ pramatimicchamāna īṭṭe rayiṃ yaśasaṃ pūrvabhājam | indrāgnī vṛtrahaṇā suvajrā pra no navyebhistirataṃ deṣṇaiḥ ||

The pious sage, desiring your favour, glorifies you with praises for the sake of formerly enjoyed riches,accompanied by celebrity; Indra and Agni, slayers of Vṛtra, bearers of the thunderbolt, exalt us with preciousdonations.

सं यन्मही मिथती स्पर्धमाने तनूरुचा शूरसाता यतैते । अदेवयुं विदथे देवयुभिः सत्रा हतं सोमसुता जनेन ॥

saṃ yanmahī mithatī spardhamāne tanūrucā śūrasātā yataite | adevayuṃ vidathe devayubhiḥ satrā hataṃ somasutā janena ||

As two large, mutually defiant (armies), emulous in corporal vigour, may contend in war, so do youdestroy, by the devout, those who are not devoted to the gods in sacrifice, and, by the man who presentslibations, (him who does not offer).

इमामु षु सोमसुतिमुप न एन्द्राग्नी सौमनसाय यातम् । नू चिद्धि परिमम्नाथे अस्माना वां शश्वद्भिर्ववृतीय वाजैः ॥

imāmu ṣu somasutimupa na endrāgnī saumanasāya yātam | nū ciddhi parimamnāthe asmānā vāṃ śaśvadbhirvavṛtīya vājaiḥ ||

Come with gracious minds, Indra and Agni, to this our Soma libation; you are never regardless of us,therefore, I propitiate you with constant (sacrificial) viands.

सो अग्न एना नमसा समिद्धोऽच्छा मित्रं वरुणमिन्द्रं वोचेः । यत्सीमागश्चकृमा तत्सु मृऴ तदर्यमादितिः शिश्रथन्तु ॥

so agna enā namasā samiddho'cchā mitraṃ varuṇamindraṃ voceḥ | yatsīmāgaścakṛmā tatsu mṛḻa tadaryamāditiḥ śiśrathantu ||

Kindled, Agni, by this adoration, do you recommend us to Mitra, Varuṇa, and Indra; whatever sin wemay have committed, do you expiate, and may Aryaman, Aditi (and Mitra) remove it (from us).

एता अग्न आशुषाणास इष्टीर्युवोः सचाभ्यश्याम वाजान् । मेन्द्रो नो विष्णुर्मरुतः परि ख्यन्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

etā agna āśuṣāṇāsa iṣṭīryuvoḥ sacābhyaśyāma vājān | mendro no viṣṇurmarutaḥ pari khyanyūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

Diligently celebrating these rites, may we, Agni, (and Indra), at once arrive at your food; let not Indra,Viṣ.u, the Maruts, abandon us; and do you (gods) ever cherish us with blessings.
