ऋग्वेद 7.89 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

मो षु वरुण मृन्मयं गृहं राजन्नहं गमम् । मृऴा सुक्षत्र मृऴय ॥

mo ṣu varuṇa mṛnmayaṃ gṛhaṃ rājannahaṃ gamam | mṛḻā sukṣatra mṛḻaya ||

May I never go, royal Varuṇa, to a house made of clay; grant me happiness, possessor of wealth, grantme happiness.

यदेमि प्रस्फुरन्निव दृतिर्न ध्मातो अद्रिवः । मृऴा सुक्षत्र मृऴय ॥

yademi prasphuranniva dṛtirna dhmāto adrivaḥ | mṛḻā sukṣatra mṛḻaya ||

When, Varuṇa, I am throbbing as if (with awe) like an inflated skin, grant me happiness, possessor ofwealth, grant me happiness.

क्रत्वः समह दीनता प्रतीपं जगमा शुचे । मृऴा सुक्षत्र मृऴय ॥

kratvaḥ samaha dīnatā pratīpaṃ jagamā śuce | mṛḻā sukṣatra mṛḻaya ||

Opulent and pure (Varuṇa), if through infirmity I have done what is contrary (to the law), yet grant mehappiness, possessor of wealth, grant me happiness.

अपां मध्ये तस्थिवांसं तृष्णाविदज्जरितारम् । मृऴा सुक्षत्र मृऴय ॥

apāṃ madhye tasthivāṃsaṃ tṛṣṇāvidajjaritāram | mṛḻā sukṣatra mṛḻaya ||

Thirst distresses (me) your worshipper in the midst of the waters; grant me happiness, possessor ofwealth, grant me happiness.

यत्किं चेदं वरुण दैव्ये जनेऽभिद्रोहं मनुष्याश्चरामसि । अचित्ती यत्तव धर्मा युयोपिम मा नस्तस्मादेनसो देव रीरिषः ॥

yatkiṃ cedaṃ varuṇa daivye jane'bhidrohaṃ manuṣyāścarāmasi | acittī yattava dharmā yuyopima mā nastasmādenaso deva rīriṣaḥ ||

Whatever the offence which we men commit Varuṇa against divine beings, whatever law of yours wemay through ignorance violate, do not you, divine Varuṇa, punish us on account of that iniquity.
