[rv-7-7] • 7 श्लोकाः

प्र वो देवं चित्सहसानमग्निमश्वं न वाजिनं हिषे नमोभिः । भवा नो दूतो अध्वरस्य विद्वान्त्मना देवेषु विविदे मितद्रुः ॥

pra vo devaṃ citsahasānamagnimaśvaṃ na vājinaṃ hiṣe namobhiḥ | bhavā no dūto adhvarasya vidvāntmanā deveṣu vivide mitadruḥ ||

I propitiate with oblations the divine, vigorous Agni, rapid as a horse; do you, knowing (our desires), beour messenger of the sacrifice; he, the consumer of forests, is known spontaneously among the gods.

आ याह्यग्ने पथ्या अनु स्वा मन्द्रो देवानां सख्यं जुषाणः । आ सानु शुष्मैर्नदयन्पृथिव्या जम्भेभिर्विश्वमुशधग्वनानि ॥

ā yāhyagne pathyā anu svā mandro devānāṃ sakhyaṃ juṣāṇaḥ | ā sānu śuṣmairnadayanpṛthivyā jambhebhirviśvamuśadhagvanāni ||

Come, Agni, rejoicing by thine own paths, gratified by the friendship of the gods; roarind with witheringflames above the high plural ces of the earth; threatening to consume all the forests.

प्राचीनो यज्ञः सुधितं हि बर्हिः प्रीणीते अग्निरीऴितो न होता । आ मातरा विश्ववारे हुवानो यतो यविष्ठ जज्ञिषे सुशेवः ॥

prācīno yajñaḥ sudhitaṃ hi barhiḥ prīṇīte agnirīḻito na hotā | ā mātarā viśvavāre huvāno yato yaviṣṭha jajñiṣe suśevaḥ ||

The sacrifice is presen; the sacred grass is strewn; Agni lauded is satisfied, and is the ministrant priestinvoking the all-desired parents of whom you, honoured Agni, the youngest (of the gods), are born.

सद्यो अध्वरे रथिरं जनन्त मानुषासो विचेतसो य एषाम् । विशामधायि विश्पतिर्दुरोणेऽग्निर्मन्द्रो मधुवचा ऋतावा ॥

sadyo adhvare rathiraṃ jananta mānuṣāso vicetaso ya eṣām | viśāmadhāyi viśpatirduroṇe'gnirmandro madhuvacā ṛtāvā ||

Judicious men promptly genitive rate at the sacred rite the directing (Agni), who (may convey) their(oblations); Agni, the lord of men, the giver of delight, the swee-spoken, the celebrator of sacrifices, has beenestablished in the dwelling of the people.

असादि वृतो वह्निराजगन्वानग्निर्ब्रह्मा नृषदने विधर्ता । द्यौश्च यं पृथिवी वावृधाते आ यं होता यजति विश्ववारम् ॥

asādi vṛto vahnirājaganvānagnirbrahmā nṛṣadane vidhartā | dyauśca yaṃ pṛthivī vāvṛdhāte ā yaṃ hotā yajati viśvavāram ||

Invester (with the priestly office), the bearer (of the oblation), Agni, the directing priest, the sustainer (ofall), is seated in the house of man, he whom heaven and earth extol, and whom, the desired of all, the ministrantpriests worship.

एते द्युम्नेभिर्विश्वमातिरन्त मन्त्रं ये वारं नर्या अतक्षन् । प्र ये विशस्तिरन्त श्रोषमाणा आ ये मे अस्य दीधयन्नृतस्य ॥

ete dyumnebhirviśvamātiranta mantraṃ ye vāraṃ naryā atakṣan | pra ye viśastiranta śroṣamāṇā ā ye me asya dīdhayannṛtasya ||

These men nourish the universe with viands who offer (to Agni) fitting commendation; those people alsowho eagerly listen (to his laudation) augment (the plural nty of the world), as do these my (associates), who areglorifiers of this truthful (duty).

नू त्वामग्न ईमहे वसिष्ठा ईशानं सूनो सहसो वसूनाम् । इषं स्तोतृभ्यो मघवद्भ्य आनड्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

nū tvāmagna īmahe vasiṣṭhā īśānaṃ sūno sahaso vasūnām | iṣaṃ stotṛbhyo maghavadbhya ānaḍyūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

We Vasiṣṭhas implore you, Agni, son of strength, the lord of treasures, that you will quickly bestowfood upon thine adorers who are affluent (in oblations), and do you ever cherish us with blessings.
