[rv-7-40] • 7 श्लोकाः

ओ श्रुष्टिर्विदथ्या समेतु प्रति स्तोमं दधीमहि तुराणाम् । यदद्य देवः सविता सुवाति स्यामास्य रत्निनो विभागे ॥

o śruṣṭirvidathyā sametu prati stomaṃ dadhīmahi turāṇām | yadadya devaḥ savitā suvāti syāmāsya ratnino vibhāge ||

May the satisfaction derived from pious rites come to us as we contemplate the glorification of the swiftmoving (divinities); may we be included in the apportionment by that wealth-bestowing deity (of the riches) whichthe divine Savitā goday distributes.

मित्रस्तन्नो वरुणो रोदसी च द्युभक्तमिन्द्रो अर्यमा ददातु । दिदेष्टु देव्यदिती रेक्णो वायुश्च यन्नियुवैते भगश्च ॥

mitrastanno varuṇo rodasī ca dyubhaktamindro aryamā dadātu | dideṣṭu devyaditī rekṇo vāyuśca yanniyuvaite bhagaśca ||

May Mitra and Varuṇa, heaven and earth, Indra and Āryaman, give us that (wealth) which is meritedby brilliant (laudations); may the divine Aditi be disposed to give us riches, which Vāyu and Bhaga may preserveever in our keeping.

सेदुग्रो अस्तु मरुतः स शुष्मी यं मर्त्यं पृषदश्वा अवाथ । उतेमग्निः सरस्वती जुनन्ति न तस्य रायः पर्येतास्ति ॥

sedugro astu marutaḥ sa śuṣmī yaṃ martyaṃ pṛṣadaśvā avātha | utemagniḥ sarasvatī junanti na tasya rāyaḥ paryetāsti ||

Maruts, whose steeds are the spotted deer, may the mortal whom you protect the resolute, be strong,for him Agni and Sarasvatī also defend, and there be no despoiler of his riches.

अयं हि नेता वरुण ऋतस्य मित्रो राजानो अर्यमापो धुः । सुहवा देव्यदितिरनर्वा ते नो अंहो अति पर्षन्नरिष्टान् ॥

ayaṃ hi netā varuṇa ṛtasya mitro rājāno aryamāpo dhuḥ | suhavā devyaditiranarvā te no aṃho ati parṣannariṣṭān ||

This Varuṇa, the leader of the rite, and the royal Mitra and Āryaman, uphold my acts, and the divineunopposed Aditi, earnestly invoked; may they convey us safe beyond evil.

अस्य देवस्य मीऴ्हुषो वया विष्णोरेषस्य प्रभृथे हविर्भिः । विदे हि रुद्रो रुद्रियं महित्वं यासिष्टं वर्तिरश्विनाविरावत् ॥

asya devasya mīḻhuṣo vayā viṣṇoreṣasya prabhṛthe havirbhiḥ | vide hi rudro rudriyaṃ mahitvaṃ yāsiṣṭaṃ vartiraśvināvirāvat ||

I propitiate with oblations the ramifications of that divine attainable Viṣṇu, the showerer of benefits;Rudra, bestow upon us the magnificence of his nature; the Aśvins have come to our dwelling abond with(sacrificial) food.

मात्र पूषन्नाघृण इरस्यो वरूत्री यद्रातिषाचश्च रासन् । मयोभुवो नो अर्वन्तो नि पान्तु वृष्टिं परिज्मा वातो ददातु ॥

mātra pūṣannāghṛṇa irasyo varūtrī yadrātiṣācaśca rāsan | mayobhuvo no arvanto ni pāntu vṛṣṭiṃ parijmā vāto dadātu ||

Resplendent Pūṣan, oppose not (hindrance) on this occasion; may the protectress, (Sarasvatī) andthe liberal (wives of the gods), grant us wealth; may the ever-moving deities, the sources of happiness, protectus; may the circumambient Vāta send us rain.

नू रोदसी अभिष्टुते वसिष्ठैॠतावानो वरुणो मित्रो अग्निः । यच्छन्तु चन्द्रा उपमं नो अर्कं यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

nū rodasī abhiṣṭute vasiṣṭhaiṝtāvāno varuṇo mitro agniḥ | yacchantu candrā upamaṃ no arkaṃ yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

Heaven and earth are now glorified by the Vasiṣṭhas, as are Varuṇa the object of worship, and Mitraand Agni; may they, the conferrers of joy, bestow upon us excellent food; and do you (all) ever cherish us withblessings.
