ऋग्वेद 5.66 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

आ चिकितान सुक्रतू देवौ मर्त रिशादसा । वरुणाय ऋतपेशसे दधीत प्रयसे महे ॥

ā cikitāna sukratū devau marta riśādasā | varuṇāya ṛtapeśase dadhīta prayase mahe ||

Man, endowed with intelligence, (adore) the two deities, the performers of good deeds, the destroyers of foes; offer (oblations) to the adorable accepter of (sacrificial) food, to Varuṇa, whose form is water.

ता हि क्षत्रमविह्रुतं सम्यगसुर्यमाशाते । अध व्रतेव मानुषं स्वर्ण धायि दर्शतम् ॥

tā hi kṣatramavihrutaṃ samyagasuryamāśāte | adha vrateva mānuṣaṃ svarṇa dhāyi darśatam ||

Inasmuch as you two are possessed of irresistible and asura-subduing strength, therefore has holy sacrifice been established among men, as the sun (has been plural ced) in the sky.

ता वामेषे रथानामुर्वीं गव्यूतिमेषाम् । रातहव्यस्य सुष्टुतिं दधृक्स्तोमैर्मनामहे ॥

tā vāmeṣe rathānāmurvīṃ gavyūtimeṣām | rātahavyasya suṣṭutiṃ dadhṛkstomairmanāmahe ||

We glorify you both, that your chariots may precede ours by a long distance; accepting the pious worship of Rātahavya with (his) praises.

अधा हि काव्या युवं दक्षस्य पूर्भिरद्भुता । नि केतुना जनानां चिकेथे पूतदक्षसा ॥

adhā hi kāvyā yuvaṃ dakṣasya pūrbhiradbhutā | ni ketunā janānāṃ cikethe pūtadakṣasā ||

Now, adorable and wonderful deities, (propitiated) by the former (praises) of (me, your) worshipper; do you, who are of pure vigour, consider with approving minds (the adoration) of these men.

तदृतं पृथिवि बृहच्छ्रवएष ऋषीणाम् । ज्रयसानावरं पृथ्वति क्षरन्ति यामभिः ॥

tadṛtaṃ pṛthivi bṛhacchravaeṣa ṛṣīṇām | jrayasānāvaraṃ pṛthvati kṣaranti yāmabhiḥ ||

Earth, in you is abundant water for the necessities of the Ṛṣis; the two active (deities) dispense by their movement sufficiently copious (rain).

आ यद्वामीयचक्षसा मित्र वयं च सूरयः । व्यचिष्ठे बहुपाय्ये यतेमहि स्वराज्ये ॥

ā yadvāmīyacakṣasā mitra vayaṃ ca sūrayaḥ | vyaciṣṭhe bahupāyye yatemahi svarājye ||

We and the devout (invoke) you, Mitra and Varuṇa, who are far-seeing; may we proceed to your spacious and much frequented kingdom.
