ऋग्वेद 5.65 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

यश्चिकेत स सुक्रतुर्देवत्रा स ब्रवीतु नः । वरुणो यस्य दर्शतो मित्रो वा वनते गिरः ॥

yaściketa sa sukraturdevatrā sa bravītu naḥ | varuṇo yasya darśato mitro vā vanate giraḥ ||

He who knows (how to honour you two) among the gods, is ghe performer of good works; let him, communicate (that knowledge) to us, he of whom the graceful Varuṇa or Mitra accepts the laudation.

ता हि श्रेष्ठवर्चसा राजाना दीर्घश्रुत्तमा । ता सत्पती ऋतावृध ऋतावाना जनेजने ॥

tā hi śreṣṭhavarcasā rājānā dīrghaśruttamā | tā satpatī ṛtāvṛdha ṛtāvānā janejane ||

They two, verily excelling in radiance, royal (deities), who hear (invocations) from the greatest distance; lords of the virtuous, favourers of the sacrifice, are in movement (for the good of) each individual man.

ता वामियानोऽवसे पूर्वा उप ब्रुवे सचा । स्वश्वासः सु चेतुना वाजाँ अभि प्र दावने ॥

tā vāmiyāno'vase pūrvā upa bruve sacā | svaśvāsaḥ su cetunā vājā~ abhi pra dāvane ||

Approaching you, ancient (divinities), I invoke you together for protection; possessed of good steeds, (we praise you) who are provident to give us food.

मित्रो अंहोश्चिदादुरु क्षयाय गातुं वनते । मित्रस्य हि प्रतूर्वतः सुमतिरस्ति विधतः ॥

mitro aṃhościdāduru kṣayāya gātuṃ vanate | mitrasya hi pratūrvataḥ sumatirasti vidhataḥ ||

Mitra grants even to the sinful (worshipper) the (means of) repairing to his spacious dwelling; the favour of Mitra, the destroyer fo foes, is (granted) to (his) adorer.

वयं मित्रस्यावसि स्याम सप्रथस्तमे । अनेहसस्त्वोतयः सत्रा वरुणशेषसः ॥

vayaṃ mitrasyāvasi syāma saprathastame | anehasastvotayaḥ satrā varuṇaśeṣasaḥ ||

May we ever be in the comprehensive guardianship of Mitra, and, free from sin, enjoy, (Mitra), your protection, being at the same time the children of Varuṇa

युवं मित्रेमं जनं यतथः सं च नयथः । मा मघोनः परि ख्यतं मो अस्माकमृषीणां गोपीथे न उरुष्यतम् ॥

yuvaṃ mitremaṃ janaṃ yatathaḥ saṃ ca nayathaḥ | mā maghonaḥ pari khyataṃ mo asmākamṛṣīṇāṃ gopīthe na uruṣyatam ||

You come, Mitra and Varuṇa, to this man, and guide him (to his desires); deny us not when we are rich (in offerings); (deny us not), who are (the sons) of ṛṣis protect us in the presenting of the libation.
