प्र त आशवः पवमान धीजवो मदा अर्षन्ति रघुजा इव त्मना । दिव्याः सुपर्णा मधुमन्त इन्दवो मदिन्तमासः परि कोशमासते ॥

pra ta āśavaḥ pavamāna dhījavo madā arṣanti raghujā iva tmanā | divyāḥ suparṇā madhumanta indavo madintamāsaḥ pari kośamāsate ||

Your (juices), purified (Soma), all-pervading, quick as thought, go of themselves like the offspring of swift (mares); the celestial well-winged sweet-flavoured juices, great exciters of exhilaration, alight upon the receptacle.

प्र ते मदासो मदिरास आशवोऽसृक्षत रथ्यासो यथा पृथक् । धेनुर्न वत्सं पयसाभि वज्रिणमिन्द्रमिन्दवो मधुमन्त ऊर्मयः ॥

pra te madāso madirāsa āśavo'sṛkṣata rathyāso yathā pṛthak | dhenurna vatsaṃ payasābhi vajriṇamindramindavo madhumanta ūrmayaḥ ||

Your exhilarating, all-pervading juices are let loose separately like chariot-horses; the sweet-flavoured (Soma) waves (go) to Indra the wilder of the thunderbolt as a cow with her milk to the calf.

अत्यो न हियानो अभि वाजमर्ष स्वर्वित्कोशं दिवो अद्रिमातरम् । वृषा पवित्रे अधि सानो अव्यये सोमः पुनान इन्द्रियाय धायसे ॥

atyo na hiyāno abhi vājamarṣa svarvitkośaṃ divo adrimātaram | vṛṣā pavitre adhi sāno avyaye somaḥ punāna indriyāya dhāyase ||

Like a horse urged on to battle, do you who are all-knowing rush from heaven to the receptacle whose mother is the cloud; Soma the showerer (of benefits) is being purified at the top upon the woollen filter for Indra's strength which supports (the world).

प्र त आश्विनीः पवमान धीजुवो दिव्या असृग्रन्पयसा धरीमणि । प्रान्तॠषयः स्थाविरीरसृक्षत ये त्वा मृजन्त्यृषिषाण वेधसः ॥

pra ta āśvinīḥ pavamāna dhījuvo divyā asṛgranpayasā dharīmaṇi | prāntaṝṣayaḥ sthāvirīrasṛkṣata ye tvā mṛjantyṛṣiṣāṇa vedhasaḥ ||

Purified (Soma), your celestial steed-like (streams) as quick as thought are poured along with the milk into the receptacle; the ṛṣis, the ordainers (of sacrifice), who cleanse you, O ṛṣi-enjoyed (Soma), pour your continuous (streams) into the midst (of the vessel).

विश्वा धामानि विश्वचक्ष ऋभ्वसः प्रभोस्ते सतः परि यन्ति केतवः । व्यानशिः पवसे सोम धर्मभिः पतिर्विश्वस्य भुवनस्य राजसि ॥

viśvā dhāmāni viśvacakṣa ṛbhvasaḥ prabhoste sataḥ pari yanti ketavaḥ | vyānaśiḥ pavase soma dharmabhiḥ patirviśvasya bhuvanasya rājasi ||

All-seeing (Soma), the mighty rays of you, who are the lord, encompass all the sphere; pervading (all things) you flow, Soma, through your functions; you rule lord of the whole world.

उभयतः पवमानस्य रश्मयो ध्रुवस्य सतः परि यन्ति केतवः । यदी पवित्रे अधि मृज्यते हरिः सत्ता नि योना कलशेषु सीदति ॥

ubhayataḥ pavamānasya raśmayo dhruvasya sataḥ pari yanti ketavaḥ | yadī pavitre adhi mṛjyate hariḥ sattā ni yonā kalaśeṣu sīdati ||

The rays, the tokens of the extant, steady, purified Soma, circulate from both worlds; when the green-tinted juice is cleansed upon the filter, reposing it alights upon its station, the pitchers.

यज्ञस्य केतुः पवते स्वध्वरः सोमो देवानामुप याति निष्कृतम् । सहस्रधारः परि कोशमर्षति वृषा पवित्रमत्येति रोरुवत् ॥

yajñasya ketuḥ pavate svadhvaraḥ somo devānāmupa yāti niṣkṛtam | sahasradhāraḥ pari kośamarṣati vṛṣā pavitramatyeti roruvat ||

Soma, the signal of sacrifice, the object of pious worship, flows filtered; it approaches the abode of the gods; the thousand-streamed rushes to the receptacle, the showerer passes roaring through the filter.

राजा समुद्रं नद्यो वि गाहतेऽपामूर्मिं सचते सिन्धुषु श्रितः । अध्यस्थात्सानु पवमानो अव्ययं नाभा पृथिव्या धरुणो महो दिवः ॥

rājā samudraṃ nadyo vi gāhate'pāmūrmiṃ sacate sindhuṣu śritaḥ | adhyasthātsānu pavamāno avyayaṃ nābhā pṛthivyā dharuṇo maho divaḥ ||

The royal (Soma) plural nges into the firmament, (and) the rivers (thereof), mixed with the streams, he associates with the wave of the waters; being filtered he stands upon the uplifted woollen (filter) on the navel of the earth, the upholder of the vast heaven.

दिवो न सानु स्तनयन्नचिक्रदद्द्यौश्च यस्य पृथिवी च धर्मभिः । इन्द्रस्य सख्यं पवते विवेविदत्सोमः पुनानः कलशेषु सीदति ॥

divo na sānu stanayannacikradaddyauśca yasya pṛthivī ca dharmabhiḥ | indrasya sakhyaṃ pavate vivevidatsomaḥ punānaḥ kalaśeṣu sīdati ||

Thundering like the summit of the sky (the Soma) roars, by whose support both heaven and earth, (are upheld); the Soma flows acquiring Indra's friendship, purified he alights upon the pitchers.

ज्योतिर्यज्ञस्य पवते मधु प्रियं पिता देवानां जनिता विभूवसुः । दधाति रत्नं स्वधयोरपीच्यं मदिन्तमो मत्सर इन्द्रियो रसः ॥

jyotiryajñasya pavate madhu priyaṃ pitā devānāṃ janitā vibhūvasuḥ | dadhāti ratnaṃ svadhayorapīcyaṃ madintamo matsara indriyo rasaḥ ||

The light of the sacrifice, he distils sweet (juice) delightful (to the gods), the parent of the gods, the genitive rator (of all), possessed of ample wealth; he supports the hidden wealth of heaven and earth, the most exhilarating, the exciting (Soma), the nourisher of (Indra), the juice.

अभिक्रन्दन्कलशं वाज्यर्षति पतिर्दिवः शतधारो विचक्षणः । हरिर्मित्रस्य सदनेषु सीदति मर्मृजानोऽविभिः सिन्धुभिर्वृषा ॥

abhikrandankalaśaṃ vājyarṣati patirdivaḥ śatadhāro vicakṣaṇaḥ | harirmitrasya sadaneṣu sīdati marmṛjāno'vibhiḥ sindhubhirvṛṣā ||

The rapid (Soma), thelord of heaven, the thousand-streamed, the beholder (of all), rushes crying aloud to the pitcher, the green-tinted one alights upon Mitra's dwelling plural ce, cleansed by the sheep's hairs and the waters, the shower.

अग्रे सिन्धूनां पवमानो अर्षत्यग्रे वाचो अग्रियो गोषु गच्छति । अग्रे वाजस्य भजते महाधनं स्वायुधः सोतृभिः पूयते वृषा ॥

agre sindhūnāṃ pavamāno arṣatyagre vāco agriyo goṣu gacchati | agre vājasya bhajate mahādhanaṃ svāyudhaḥ sotṛbhiḥ pūyate vṛṣā ||

In the front of the waters rushes the filtered (Soma), foremost (he rushes) in the front of the voice, he goes among the rays; in the front he engages in battle (to win) food; well-armed, the showerer (of benefits), he is purified by the offerers of the oblation.

अयं मतवाञ्छकुनो यथा हितोऽव्ये ससार पवमान ऊर्मिणा । तव क्रत्वा रोदसी अन्तरा कवे शुचिर्धिया पवते सोम इन्द्र ते ॥

ayaṃ matavāñchakuno yathā hito'vye sasāra pavamāna ūrmiṇā | tava kratvā rodasī antarā kave śucirdhiyā pavate soma indra te ||

This (Soma) possessed of agreeable (praise) filtered, and sent forth, (quick) as a bird goes with a stream (of juice) through the fleece; by your sustaining act, by your intelligence, sage Indra, the pure Soma flows purified through both heaven and earth.

द्रापिं वसानो यजतो दिविस्पृशमन्तरिक्षप्रा भुवनेष्वर्पितः । स्वर्जज्ञानो नभसाभ्यक्रमीत्प्रत्नमस्य पितरमा विवासति ॥

drāpiṃ vasāno yajato divispṛśamantarikṣaprā bhuvaneṣvarpitaḥ | svarjajñāno nabhasābhyakramītpratnamasya pitaramā vivāsati ||

Wearing a coat of mail reaching to heaven, the adorable Soma, who fills the firmament (with rain), plural ced in the waters, genitive rating heaven,passes with the water, (and) worships its ancient parent (Indra).

सो अस्य विशे महि शर्म यच्छति यो अस्य धाम प्रथमं व्यानशे । पदं यदस्य परमे व्योमन्यतो विश्वा अभि सं याति संयतः ॥

so asya viśe mahi śarma yacchati yo asya dhāma prathamaṃ vyānaśe | padaṃ yadasya parame vyomanyato viśvā abhi saṃ yāti saṃyataḥ ||

(Soma), who first reached Indra's glorious body, gives great happiness to the entrance of Indra (that Soma), whose station is in the highest heaven, and through whom (Indra) triumphs in all contests.

प्रो अयासीदिन्दुरिन्द्रस्य निष्कृतं सखा सख्युर्न प्र मिनाति संगिरम् । मर्य इव युवतिभिः समर्षति सोमः कलशे शतयाम्ना पथा ॥

pro ayāsīdindurindrasya niṣkṛtaṃ sakhā sakhyurna pra mināti saṃgiram | marya iva yuvatibhiḥ samarṣati somaḥ kalaśe śatayāmnā pathā ||

Indu goes to Indra's abode, the friend leaves not the stomach of his friend; as a young man meets maidens, so the Soma (meets) the pitcher by a hundred pathṣ

प्र वो धियो मन्द्रयुवो विपन्युवः पनस्युवः संवसनेष्वक्रमुः । सोमं मनीषा अभ्यनूषत स्तुभोऽभि धेनवः पयसेमशिश्रयुः ॥

pra vo dhiyo mandrayuvo vipanyuvaḥ panasyuvaḥ saṃvasaneṣvakramuḥ | somaṃ manīṣā abhyanūṣata stubho'bhi dhenavaḥ payasemaśiśrayuḥ ||

Your thoughtful worshippers (Soma), desiring an exhilarating sound, purposing praise, advance into the halls of sacrifice; the praisers the lords of intellect praise Soma, the kine approach him with their milk.

आ नः सोम संयतं पिप्युषीमिषमिन्दो पवस्व पवमानो अस्रिधम् । या नो दोहते त्रिरहन्नसश्चुषी क्षुमद्वाजवन्मधुमत्सुवीर्यम् ॥

ā naḥ soma saṃyataṃ pipyuṣīmiṣamindo pavasva pavamāno asridham | yā no dohate trirahannasaścuṣī kṣumadvājavanmadhumatsuvīryam ||

Radiant Soma, when filtered, pour upon us accusative ulated unwasting nutritious food, which is milked for us three times a day, without hindrance, giving forth a sound, yielding strength and delight and fair male offspring.

वृषा मतीनां पवते विचक्षणः सोमो अह्नः प्रतरीतोषसो दिवः । क्राणा सिन्धूनां कलशाँ अवीवशदिन्द्रस्य हार्द्याविशन्मनीषिभिः ॥

vṛṣā matīnāṃ pavate vicakṣaṇaḥ somo ahnaḥ pratarītoṣaso divaḥ | krāṇā sindhūnāṃ kalaśā~ avīvaśadindrasya hārdyāviśanmanīṣibhiḥ ||

The all-obsergant Soma, the showerer (of the desires) of his eulogists, the increase of the day, the dawn, the sun; maker of rivers he desires to enter the pitchers, penetrating to Indra's heart, (praised) by the wise.

मनीषिभिः पवते पूर्व्यः कविर्नृभिर्यतः परि कोशाँ अचिक्रदत् । त्रितस्य नाम जनयन्मधु क्षरदिन्द्रस्य वायोः सख्याय कर्तवे ॥

manīṣibhiḥ pavate pūrvyaḥ kavirnṛbhiryataḥ pari kośā~ acikradat | tritasya nāma janayanmadhu kṣaradindrasya vāyoḥ sakhyāya kartave ||

The ancient sage (Soma) is purified by the wise, guided by the priests he roars into the receptacles; genitive rating the water of the threefold (Indra), he distils sweet juice to gain Indra's and Vāyu's friendship.

अयं पुनान उषसो वि रोचयदयं सिन्धुभ्यो अभवदु लोककृत् । अयं त्रिः सप्त दुदुहान आशिरं सोमो हृदे पवते चारु मत्सरः ॥

ayaṃ punāna uṣaso vi rocayadayaṃ sindhubhyo abhavadu lokakṛt | ayaṃ triḥ sapta duduhāna āśiraṃ somo hṛde pavate cāru matsaraḥ ||

(It is) he (who), when purified, illumines the dawn; he the maker of the world is (prosperous) for the rivers; this Soma, having milked the thrice seven (cows) of their curds and milk, exhilarating, flows plural asantly to (go to) the heart.

पवस्व सोम दिव्येषु धामसु सृजान इन्दो कलशे पवित्र आ । सीदन्निन्द्रस्य जठरे कनिक्रदन्नृभिर्यतः सूर्यमारोहयो दिवि ॥

pavasva soma divyeṣu dhāmasu sṛjāna indo kalaśe pavitra ā | sīdannindrasya jaṭhare kanikradannṛbhiryataḥ sūryamārohayo divi ||

Flow, Soma, to the heavenly abodes; let forth, O Indu, (proceed) to the pitcher, to the filter; alighting upon Indra's belly with a noise, guided by the priests, make the sun ascend the sky.

अद्रिभिः सुतः पवसे पवित्र आँ इन्दविन्द्रस्य जठरेष्वाविशन् । त्वं नृचक्षा अभवो विचक्षण सोम गोत्रमङ्गिरोभ्योऽवृणोरप ॥

adribhiḥ sutaḥ pavase pavitra ā~ indavindrasya jaṭhareṣvāviśan | tvaṃ nṛcakṣā abhavo vicakṣaṇa soma gotramaṅgirobhyo'vṛṇorapa ||

Effused with the stones, you flow, Indu, into the filter entering the belly of Indra; Soma, the contemplator, you do look upon man (with affection); you did open the cloud for the aṅgirasas.

त्वां सोम पवमानं स्वाध्योऽनु विप्रासो अमदन्नवस्यवः । त्वां सुपर्ण आभरद्दिवस्परीन्दो विश्वाभिर्मतिभिः परिष्कृतम् ॥

tvāṃ soma pavamānaṃ svādhyo'nu viprāso amadannavasyavaḥ | tvāṃ suparṇa ābharaddivasparīndo viśvābhirmatibhiḥ pariṣkṛtam ||

The pious worshippers desirous of preservation have glorified you, Soma, when being purified; the hawk brought you from heaven, Indu, adorned with all praises.

अव्ये पुनानं परि वार ऊर्मिणा हरिं नवन्ते अभि सप्त धेनवः । अपामुपस्थे अध्यायवः कविमृतस्य योना महिषा अहेषत ॥

avye punānaṃ pari vāra ūrmiṇā hariṃ navante abhi sapta dhenavaḥ | apāmupasthe adhyāyavaḥ kavimṛtasya yonā mahiṣā aheṣata ||

The seven kine approach the green-tinted (Soma) who flows purified in a stream through the woollen fleece, mighty men urge (you) the sage on the lap of the waters to the plural ce of sacrifice.

इन्दुः पुनानो अति गाहते मृधो विश्वानि कृण्वन्त्सुपथानि यज्यवे । गाः कृण्वानो निर्णिजं हर्यतः कविरत्यो न क्रीऴन्परि वारमर्षति ॥

induḥ punāno ati gāhate mṛdho viśvāni kṛṇvantsupathāni yajyave | gāḥ kṛṇvāno nirṇijaṃ haryataḥ kaviratyo na krīḻanpari vāramarṣati ||

Indu, purified, plural nges through his foes making all things easy of access to the worshipper; making his body liquid, lovable and wise, he rishes through the filter sporting like a horse.

असश्चतः शतधारा अभिश्रियो हरिं नवन्तेऽव ता उदन्युवः । क्षिपो मृजन्ति परि गोभिरावृतं तृतीये पृष्ठे अधि रोचने दिवः ॥

asaścataḥ śatadhārā abhiśriyo hariṃ navante'va tā udanyuvaḥ | kṣipo mṛjanti pari gobhirāvṛtaṃ tṛtīye pṛṣṭhe adhi rocane divaḥ ||

Separate, hundred-streamed, commingling (with the Soma), water-desiring, (the sun's rays) approach the green-tinted (Soma); the fingers cleanse him pervaded by rays, in the third sphere illumined by the sun.

तवेमाः प्रजा दिव्यस्य रेतसस्त्वं विश्वस्य भुवनस्य राजसि । अथेदं विश्वं पवमान ते वशे त्वमिन्दो प्रथमो धामधा असि ॥

tavemāḥ prajā divyasya retasastvaṃ viśvasya bhuvanasya rājasi | athedaṃ viśvaṃ pavamāna te vaśe tvamindo prathamo dhāmadhā asi ||

All these are the offspring of your celestial effluence; you are the ruler of the whole world; so, purified (Soma) this universe is in subjection to you; you, Indu, are the foremost, the supporter of the house.

त्वं समुद्रो असि विश्ववित्कवे तवेमाः पञ्च प्रदिशो विधर्मणि । त्वं द्यां च पृथिवीं चाति जभ्रिषे तव ज्योतींषि पवमान सूर्यः ॥

tvaṃ samudro asi viśvavitkave tavemāḥ pañca pradiśo vidharmaṇi | tvaṃ dyāṃ ca pṛthivīṃ cāti jabhriṣe tava jyotīṃṣi pavamāna sūryaḥ ||

You, O sage, are the ocean, you are omniscient; these five regions (rest) on your support; you sustain both heaven and earth; the sun, O Pavamāna (nourishes) your luminaries.

त्वं पवित्रे रजसो विधर्मणि देवेभ्यः सोम पवमान पूयसे । त्वामुशिजः प्रथमा अगृभ्णत तुभ्येमा विश्वा भुवनानि येमिरे ॥

tvaṃ pavitre rajaso vidharmaṇi devebhyaḥ soma pavamāna pūyase | tvāmuśijaḥ prathamā agṛbhṇata tubhyemā viśvā bhuvanāni yemire ||

Purified Soma, you are purified for the gods in the filter the supporter of the worlds; the chief (priests) desiring (you) lay hold (of you), all these worlds offer themselves to you.

प्र रेभ एत्यति वारमव्ययं वृषा वनेष्वव चक्रदद्धरिः । सं धीतयो वावशाना अनूषत शिशुं रिहन्ति मतयः पनिप्नतम् ॥

pra rebha etyati vāramavyayaṃ vṛṣā vaneṣvava cakradaddhariḥ | saṃ dhītayo vāvaśānā anūṣata śiśuṃ rihanti matayaḥ panipnatam ||

The sounding (Soma) passes through the woollen fleece; the green-tinted showerer cries in the waters; the worshippers desiring (the Soma) praise him together, the laudations soothe the infant as he cries.

स सूर्यस्य रश्मिभिः परि व्यत तन्तुं तन्वानस्त्रिवृतं यथा विदे । नयन्नृतस्य प्रशिषो नवीयसीः पतिर्जनीनामुप याति निष्कृतम् ॥

sa sūryasya raśmibhiḥ pari vyata tantuṃ tanvānastrivṛtaṃ yathā vide | nayannṛtasya praśiṣo navīyasīḥ patirjanīnāmupa yāti niṣkṛtam ||

He invests himself with the rays of the sun stretching out the triple thread in the way he knows; guiding the recent adorations of the truthful (worshipper), the protection of women passes to the consecrated (vessel).

राजा सिन्धूनां पवते पतिर्दिव ऋतस्य याति पथिभिः कनिक्रदत् । सहस्रधारः परि षिच्यते हरिः पुनानो वाचं जनयन्नुपावसुः ॥

rājā sindhūnāṃ pavate patirdiva ṛtasya yāti pathibhiḥ kanikradat | sahasradhāraḥ pari ṣicyate hariḥ punāno vācaṃ janayannupāvasuḥ ||

The sovereign of rivers flows pure, the lord of heaven goes with a shout by the paths of the sacrifice; the thousand-streamed green-tinted (Soma) is poured out, uttering a sound while being filtered, the bringer of wealth.

पवमान मह्यर्णो वि धावसि सूरो न चित्रो अव्ययानि पव्यया । गभस्तिपूतो नृभिरद्रिभिः सुतो महे वाजाय धन्याय धन्वसि ॥

pavamāna mahyarṇo vi dhāvasi sūro na citro avyayāni pavyayā | gabhastipūto nṛbhiradribhiḥ suto mahe vājāya dhanyāya dhanvasi ||

Purified (Soma), you pour forth abundant juice; like the wonderful sun (you approach) the fleecy filters; purified by the hands of the priests, expressed with the stones you flow for a mighty wealth-yielding conflict.

इषमूर्जं पवमानाभ्यर्षसि श्येनो न वंसु कलशेषु सीदसि । इन्द्राय मद्वा मद्यो मदः सुतो दिवो विष्टम्भ उपमो विचक्षणः ॥

iṣamūrjaṃ pavamānābhyarṣasi śyeno na vaṃsu kalaśeṣu sīdasi | indrāya madvā madyo madaḥ suto divo viṣṭambha upamo vicakṣaṇaḥ ||

You rush, Pavamāna, to (bring) food and strength; you alight on the pitchers like a falcon on its nest; (you) the exhilarating effused juice giving exhilaration to Indra, resembling the support of heaven, beholding (all things).

सप्त स्वसारो अभि मातरः शिशुं नवं जज्ञानं जेन्यं विपश्चितम् । अपां गन्धर्वं दिव्यं नृचक्षसं सोमं विश्वस्य भुवनस्य राजसे ॥

sapta svasāro abhi mātaraḥ śiśuṃ navaṃ jajñānaṃ jenyaṃ vipaścitam | apāṃ gandharvaṃ divyaṃ nṛcakṣasaṃ somaṃ viśvasya bhuvanasya rājase ||

The seven sister mothers approach the new-born, victorious sagacious infant, Soma, abiding amidst the waters, supporter of water, divine the contemplator of men to make him the ruler of the whole world.

ईशान इमा भुवनानि वीयसे युजान इन्दो हरितः सुपर्ण्यः । तास्ते क्षरन्तु मधुमद्घृतं पयस्तव व्रते सोम तिष्ठन्तु कृष्टयः ॥

īśāna imā bhuvanāni vīyase yujāna indo haritaḥ suparṇyaḥ | tāste kṣarantu madhumadghṛtaṃ payastava vrate soma tiṣṭhantu kṛṣṭayaḥ ||

Indu, who are the lord, you go (through) threse worlds, harnessing (to the car) your swift-moving steeds; let them dispense the sweet-flavoured shining liquor, may all men be present Soma, at your worship.

त्वं नृचक्षा असि सोम विश्वतः पवमान वृषभ ता वि धावसि । स नः पवस्व वसुमद्धिरण्यवद्वयं स्याम भुवनेषु जीवसे ॥

tvaṃ nṛcakṣā asi soma viśvataḥ pavamāna vṛṣabha tā vi dhāvasi | sa naḥ pavasva vasumaddhiraṇyavadvayaṃ syāma bhuvaneṣu jīvase ||

You, Soma, are everywhere, the contemplator of men; you, Pavamāna, the showerer, hasten to these (waters); do you pour forth upon us (wealth), comprising various treasures and gold; may we be (able) to live in the worlds.

गोवित्पवस्व वसुविद्धिरण्यविद्रेतोधा इन्दो भुवनेष्वर्पितः । त्वं सुवीरो असि सोम विश्ववित्तं त्वा विप्रा उप गिरेम आसते ॥

govitpavasva vasuviddhiraṇyavidretodhā indo bhuvaneṣvarpitaḥ | tvaṃ suvīro asi soma viśvavittaṃ tvā viprā upa girema āsate ||

Flow, Indu, who are the winner of cattle, wealth, and gold, the fructifier, plural ced upon the waters; you, Soma, are a hero, omniscient; you these sages approach with praise.

उन्मध्व ऊर्मिर्वनना अतिष्ठिपदपो वसानो महिषो वि गाहते । राजा पवित्ररथो वाजमारुहत्सहस्रभृष्टिर्जयति श्रवो बृहत् ॥

unmadhva ūrmirvananā atiṣṭhipadapo vasāno mahiṣo vi gāhate | rājā pavitraratho vājamāruhatsahasrabhṛṣṭirjayati śravo bṛhat ||

The wave of the swee-flavoured (Soma) exfites voices (of praise); clothed in water the mighty one plural nges (into the pitcher); the king whose chariot is the filter mounts for the conflict, and, armed with a thousand weapons, wins ample sustenance (for us).

स भन्दना उदियर्ति प्रजावतीर्विश्वायुर्विश्वाः सुभरा अहर्दिवि । ब्रह्म प्रजावद्रयिमश्वपस्त्यं पीत इन्दविन्द्रमस्मभ्यं याचतात् ॥

sa bhandanā udiyarti prajāvatīrviśvāyurviśvāḥ subharā ahardivi | brahma prajāvadrayimaśvapastyaṃ pīta indavindramasmabhyaṃ yācatāt ||

The all-pervading (Soma) exfites both day and night all praises easily borne, productive of prosperity; Indu, when drunk, solicit Indra (to give) us food productive of progeny and riches filling our homes.

सो अग्रे अह्नां हरिर्हर्यतो मदः प्र चेतसा चेतयते अनु द्युभिः । द्वा जना यातयन्नन्तरीयते नरा च शंसं दैव्यं च धर्तरि ॥

so agre ahnāṃ harirharyato madaḥ pra cetasā cetayate anu dyubhiḥ | dvā janā yātayannantarīyate narā ca śaṃsaṃ daivyaṃ ca dhartari ||

At the beginning of the day the green-tinted delightful exhilarating (Soma) is recognized by the intelligence (of the praisers) and by their praises; approaching the two men he passes in the midst (of heaven and earth, bestowing) upon the upholder (of the rite) both human and divine (riches).

अञ्जते व्यञ्जते समञ्जते क्रतुं रिहन्ति मधुनाभ्यञ्जते । सिन्धोरुच्छ्वासे पतयन्तमुक्षणं हिरण्यपावाः पशुमासु गृभ्णते ॥

añjate vyañjate samañjate kratuṃ rihanti madhunābhyañjate | sindhorucchvāse patayantamukṣaṇaṃ hiraṇyapāvāḥ paśumāsu gṛbhṇate ||

(The priests) smear and grease and anoint (the Soma with milk); (the gods) taste the invigorating (juice); they smear it over with sweet (milk). Purifying it with gold, they plural nge it into those (waters) the sprinkler, the beholder, falling into the seething torrent.

विपश्चिते पवमानाय गायत मही न धारात्यन्धो अर्षति । अहिर्न जूर्णामति सर्पति त्वचमत्यो न क्रीऴन्नसरद्वृषा हरिः ॥

vipaścite pavamānāya gāyata mahī na dhārātyandho arṣati | ahirna jūrṇāmati sarpati tvacamatyo na krīḻannasaradvṛṣā hariḥ ||

Sing (you priests) to the intelligent Pavamāna; like a mighty shower he sends forth food; like a snake he glides out of his old skin, sporting like a horse he hastens forth, the showerer, green-tinted.

अग्रेगो राजाप्यस्तविष्यते विमानो अह्नां भुवनेष्वर्पितः । हरिर्घृतस्नुः सुदृशीको अर्णवो ज्योतीरथः पवते राय ओक्यः ॥

agrego rājāpyastaviṣyate vimāno ahnāṃ bhuvaneṣvarpitaḥ | harirghṛtasnuḥ sudṛśīko arṇavo jyotīrathaḥ pavate rāya okyaḥ ||

(Soma) going foremost, radiant, sanctified by water, plural ced in the firmament as the measure of days is glorified; green-tinted, shedding water, of goodly aspect, the source of moisture, borne in a chariot of light he flows giving wealth, friendly to the house.

असर्जि स्कम्भो दिव उद्यतो मदः परि त्रिधातुर्भुवनान्यर्षति । अंशुं रिहन्ति मतयः पनिप्नतं गिरा यदि निर्णिजमृग्मिणो ययुः ॥

asarji skambho diva udyato madaḥ pari tridhāturbhuvanānyarṣati | aṃśuṃ rihanti matayaḥ panipnataṃ girā yadi nirṇijamṛgmiṇo yayuḥ ||

The supporter of heaven the prepared exhilarating (Soma) is let loose, the triple (beverage) rushes to the waters; the worshippers taste the sounding Soma juice, when the reciters of holy texts approach the embodied (beverage) with praise.

प्र ते धारा अत्यण्वानि मेष्यः पुनानस्य संयतो यन्ति रंहयः । यद्गोभिरिन्दो चम्वोः समज्यस आ सुवानः सोम कलशेषु सीदसि ॥

pra te dhārā atyaṇvāni meṣyaḥ punānasya saṃyato yanti raṃhayaḥ | yadgobhirindo camvoḥ samajyasa ā suvānaḥ soma kalaśeṣu sīdasi ||

The rapid streams of you when you are purified,being collected together pass through the interstices of the fleece; when you are mixed with water in the ladles, you, Soma, on being effused alight on the pitchers.

पवस्व सोम क्रतुविन्न उक्थ्योऽव्यो वारे परि धाव मधु प्रियम् । जहि विश्वान्रक्षस इन्दो अत्रिणो बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः ॥

pavasva soma kratuvinna ukthyo'vyo vāre pari dhāva madhu priyam | jahi viśvānrakṣasa indo atriṇo bṛhadvadema vidathe suvīrāḥ ||

Flow for us, Soma, cognizant of (our) worship and deserving praise; pour (your) beloved sweet-flavoured (juice) upon the woollen fleece; slay, Indu, all the voracious rākṣasas; blessed with excellent male offspring may we offer ample (praises) at the sacrifice.
