ऋग्वेद 9.82 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

असावि सोमो अरुषो वृषा हरी राजेव दस्मो अभि गा अचिक्रदत् । पुनानो वारं पर्येत्यव्ययं श्येनो न योनिं घृतवन्तमासदम् ॥

asāvi somo aruṣo vṛṣā harī rājeva dasmo abhi gā acikradat | punāno vāraṃ paryetyavyayaṃ śyeno na yoniṃ ghṛtavantamāsadam ||

The Soma has been effused radiant, the showerer, green-inted; magnificent as a king, he cries aloud when approaching the waters; purified, he passes through the sheep's fleece, to alight on the water-moistened seat like a hawk (on its nest).

कविर्वेधस्या पर्येषि माहिनमत्यो न मृष्टो अभि वाजमर्षसि । अपसेधन्दुरिता सोम मृऴय घृतं वसानः परि यासि निर्णिजम् ॥

kavirvedhasyā paryeṣi māhinamatyo na mṛṣṭo abhi vājamarṣasi | apasedhanduritā soma mṛḻaya ghṛtaṃ vasānaḥ pari yāsi nirṇijam ||

You, who are wise, pass through the adorable (filter) with a desire to perform the sacrifice; being cleansed you rush like a horse to the cattle. Driving away misfortunes be gracious (to us), Soma; clothed in water you proceed to the cleansing (vessel).

पर्जन्यः पिता महिषस्य पर्णिनो नाभा पृथिव्या गिरिषु क्षयं दधे । स्वसार आपो अभि गा उतासरन्त्सं ग्रावभिर्नसते वीते अध्वरे ॥

parjanyaḥ pitā mahiṣasya parṇino nābhā pṛthivyā giriṣu kṣayaṃ dadhe | svasāra āpo abhi gā utāsarantsaṃ grāvabhirnasate vīte adhvare ||

The mighty winged (Soma) whose father is Parjanya has plural ced his dwelling on the navel of the earth among the mountains; the sisters, the waters flow to (the produce of) the kine; he meets with the stones at the beloved sacrifice.

जायेव पत्यावधि शेव मंहसे पज्राया गर्भ शृणुहि ब्रवीमि ते । अन्तर्वाणीषु प्र चरा सु जीवसेऽनिन्द्यो वृजने सोम जागृहि ॥

jāyeva patyāvadhi śeva maṃhase pajrāyā garbha śṛṇuhi bravīmi te | antarvāṇīṣu pra carā su jīvase'nindyo vṛjane soma jāgṛhi ||

As a wife to her husband, so you (afford) delight to your worshipper; (Soma), offspring of Pajra, listen (to the praises) I address to you; in the midst of our adorations advance to grant us life; Soma, who are irreproachable, be vigilant against (our) foe.

यथा पूर्वेभ्यः शतसा अमृध्रः सहस्रसाः पर्यया वाजमिन्दो । एवा पवस्व सुविताय नव्यसे तव व्रतमन्वापः सचन्ते ॥

yathā pūrvebhyaḥ śatasā amṛdhraḥ sahasrasāḥ paryayā vājamindo | evā pavasva suvitāya navyase tava vratamanvāpaḥ sacante ||

As you, Indu, did attain strength for the ancient (ṛṣis), giving them hundred-fold (wealth), invulnerable, giving them thousand-fold (wealth); so now flow for (our) modern prosperity; the waters wait upon your functions.
