[rv-9-7] • 9 श्लोकाः

असृग्रमिन्दवः पथा धर्मन्नृतस्य सुश्रियः । विदाना अस्य योजनम् ॥

asṛgramindavaḥ pathā dharmannṛtasya suśriyaḥ | vidānā asya yojanam ||

The excellent streams (of the Soma), feeling a union with Indra, flow forth in the ceremony by the path of sacrifice.

प्र धारा मध्वो अग्रियो महीरपो वि गाहते । हविर्हविष्षु वन्द्यः ॥

pra dhārā madhvo agriyo mahīrapo vi gāhate | havirhaviṣṣu vandyaḥ ||

That which is to be praised as the oblation among oblations is immersed in the great (holy) waters, the stream of honey, the pre-eminent.

प्र युजो वाचो अग्रियो वृषाव चक्रदद्वने । सद्माभि सत्यो अध्वरः ॥

pra yujo vāco agriyo vṛṣāva cakradadvane | sadmābhi satyo adhvaraḥ ||

The pre-eminent (Soma), the showerer of benefits, the truthful, the indestructible, utters continuous sounds in the water, towards the sacrificial hall.

परि यत्काव्या कविर्नृम्णा वसानो अर्षति । स्वर्वाजी सिषासति ॥

pari yatkāvyā kavirnṛmṇā vasāno arṣati | svarvājī siṣāsati ||

When the seer (Soma), wearing ample treasures, goes round the praises (of his worshippers), then the mighty (Indra) in heaven is eager to repair to the oblation.

पवमानो अभि स्पृधो विशो राजेव सीदति । यदीमृण्वन्ति वेधसः ॥

pavamāno abhi spṛdho viśo rājeva sīdati | yadīmṛṇvanti vedhasaḥ ||

When the priests excite it, the flowing Soma like a king destroys opposing (demons and) men.

अव्यो वारे परि प्रियो हरिर्वनेषु सीदति । रेभो वनुष्यते मती ॥

avyo vāre pari priyo harirvaneṣu sīdati | rebho vanuṣyate matī ||

The green-tinted (Soma), dear to the gods, commingled with the water, sits down upon the woollen sieve, uttering a sound it is greeted by praise.

स वायुमिन्द्रमश्विना साकं मदेन गच्छति । रणा यो अस्य धर्मभिः ॥

sa vāyumindramaśvinā sākaṃ madena gacchati | raṇā yo asya dharmabhiḥ ||

He who is assiduous in the functions of (providing and preparing) the Soma, goes with exhilaration to Vāyu, Indra and the Aśvins.

आ मित्रावरुणा भगं मध्वः पवन्त ऊर्मयः । विदाना अस्य शक्मभिः ॥

ā mitrāvaruṇā bhagaṃ madhvaḥ pavanta ūrmayaḥ | vidānā asya śakmabhiḥ ||

The streams of the sweet Soma flow to Mitra and Varuṇa and to Bhaga; the worshippers knowing its (virtues are rewarded) with happiness.

अस्मभ्यं रोदसी रयिं मध्वो वाजस्य सातये । श्रवो वसूनि सं जितम् ॥

asmabhyaṃ rodasī rayiṃ madhvo vājasya sātaye | śravo vasūni saṃ jitam ||

Heaven and earth, for the acquisition of this exhilarating Soma food, win for us wealth, food and treasures.
