[rv-9-8] • 9 श्लोकाः

एते सोमा अभि प्रियमिन्द्रस्य काममक्षरन् । वर्धन्तो अस्य वीर्यम् ॥

ete somā abhi priyamindrasya kāmamakṣaran | vardhanto asya vīryam ||

These Soma juices distil the dear desire of Indra, increasing his vigour.

पुनानासश्चमूषदो गच्छन्तो वायुमश्विना । ते नो धान्तु सुवीर्यम् ॥

punānāsaścamūṣado gacchanto vāyumaśvinā | te no dhāntu suvīryam ||

Pure-flowing, filling the ladles, and proceeding to Vāyu and the Aśvins, may they sustain our energy.

इन्द्रस्य सोम राधसे पुनानो हार्दि चोदय । ऋतस्य योनिमासदम् ॥

indrasya soma rādhase punāno hārdi codaya | ṛtasya yonimāsadam ||

Soma, pure-flowing, desired for the gratification of Indra, do you impel him to sit in the plural ce of sacrifice.

मृजन्ति त्वा दश क्षिपो हिन्वन्ति सप्त धीतयः । अनु विप्रा अमादिषुः ॥

mṛjanti tvā daśa kṣipo hinvanti sapta dhītayaḥ | anu viprā amādiṣuḥ ||

The ten fingers strain you, the seven priests caress you, the worshippers gladden you.

देवेभ्यस्त्वा मदाय कं सृजानमति मेष्यः । सं गोभिर्वासयामसि ॥

devebhyastvā madāya kaṃ sṛjānamati meṣyaḥ | saṃ gobhirvāsayāmasi ||

As you stream on the water and the woollen sieve, we wrap you up with milk for the exhilaration of the gods.

पुनानः कलशेष्वा वस्त्राण्यरुषो हरिः । परि गव्यान्यव्यत ॥

punānaḥ kalaśeṣvā vastrāṇyaruṣo hariḥ | pari gavyānyavyata ||

Purified in the pitchers, radiant and green-tinted, the Soma puts on the raiment derived from the cow.

मघोन आ पवस्व नो जहि विश्वा अप द्विषः । इन्दो सखायमा विश ॥

maghona ā pavasva no jahi viśvā apa dviṣaḥ | indo sakhāyamā viśa ||

Flow to us, your wealthy (worshippers); destoy all our enemies; Indu, enter your friend.

वृष्टिं दिवः परि स्रव द्युम्नं पृथिव्या अधि । सहो नः सोम पृत्सु धाः ॥

vṛṣṭiṃ divaḥ pari srava dyumnaṃ pṛthivyā adhi | saho naḥ soma pṛtsu dhāḥ ||

Pour down rain from heaven, and abundance upon the earth; uphold our strength, Soma, in battles.

नृचक्षसं त्वा वयमिन्द्रपीतं स्वर्विदम् । भक्षीमहि प्रजामिषम् ॥

nṛcakṣasaṃ tvā vayamindrapītaṃ svarvidam | bhakṣīmahi prajāmiṣam ||

(Adoring) you, the contemplator of men, the beverage of Indra and the knower of all things, may we be blessed with progeny and food.
