[rv-9-6] • 9 श्लोकाः

मन्द्रया सोम धारया वृषा पवस्व देवयुः । अव्यो वारेष्वस्मयुः ॥

mandrayā soma dhārayā vṛṣā pavasva devayuḥ | avyo vāreṣvasmayuḥ ||

Soma, who is the showerer (of benefits), devoted to the gods, favourable to us, flow with your exhilarating stream into the woollen sieve.

अभि त्यं मद्यं मदमिन्दविन्द्र इति क्षर । अभि वाजिनो अर्वतः ॥

abhi tyaṃ madyaṃ madamindavindra iti kṣara | abhi vājino arvataḥ ||

Indu,do you, as sovereign, effuse that exhilarating juice, and pour forth vigorous steeds.

अभि त्यं पूर्व्यं मदं सुवानो अर्ष पवित्र आ । अभि वाजमुत श्रवः ॥

abhi tyaṃ pūrvyaṃ madaṃ suvāno arṣa pavitra ā | abhi vājamuta śravaḥ ||

Rain out through the filter, while pressed that ancient exhilarating fluid, and pour us forth strength and food.

अनु द्रप्सास इन्दव आपो न प्रवतासरन् । पुनाना इन्द्रमाशत ॥

anu drapsāsa indava āpo na pravatāsaran | punānā indramāśata ||

The quickly-falling drops, as they filter, follow Indra and reach him, like waters rushing down a declivity.

यमत्यमिव वाजिनं मृजन्ति योषणो दश । वने क्रीऴन्तमत्यविम् ॥

yamatyamiva vājinaṃ mṛjanti yoṣaṇo daśa | vane krīḻantamatyavim ||

That which sporting in the wood and spurting beyond the sieve, the ten sisters press, as (men rub down) a strong horse.

तं गोभिर्वृषणं रसं मदाय देववीतये । सुतं भराय सं सृज ॥

taṃ gobhirvṛṣaṇaṃ rasaṃ madāya devavītaye | sutaṃ bharāya saṃ sṛja ||

That desire-showring liquor, effused for the drink of the gods and for our exhilaration, mix with milk for prowess in battle.

देवो देवाय धारयेन्द्राय पवते सुतः । पयो यदस्य पीपयत् ॥

devo devāya dhārayendrāya pavate sutaḥ | payo yadasya pīpayat ||

The divine Soma, when effused, flows to the divine Indra in a stream, since its milk flattens him.

आत्मा यज्ञस्य रंह्या सुष्वाणः पवते सुतः । प्रत्नं नि पाति काव्यम् ॥

ātmā yajñasya raṃhyā suṣvāṇaḥ pavate sutaḥ | pratnaṃ ni pāti kāvyam ||

The soul of the sacrifice, the effused Soma, flows; with speed bringing blessings, and maintains his ancient seer-hood.

एवा पुनान इन्द्रयुर्मदं मदिष्ठ वीतये । गुहा चिद्दधिषे गिरः ॥

evā punāna indrayurmadaṃ madiṣṭha vītaye | guhā ciddadhiṣe giraḥ ||

Most exciting (Soma), devoted to Indra, as you pour forth the exhilarating juice for his drinking, you emit sounds in the secret (hall of sacrifice).
