ऋग्वेद 9.42 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

जनयन्रोचना दिवो जनयन्नप्सु सूर्यम् । वसानो गा अपो हरिः ॥

janayanrocanā divo janayannapsu sūryam | vasāno gā apo hariḥ ||

The green-tinted (Soma) genitive rating the luminaries of heaven, genitive rating the sun in the firmament, clothing himself with the descending water.

एष प्रत्नेन मन्मना देवो देवेभ्यस्परि । धारया पवते सुतः ॥

eṣa pratnena manmanā devo devebhyaspari | dhārayā pavate sutaḥ ||

He with ancient praise when effused flows in a stream, a god for the gods.

वावृधानाय तूर्वये पवन्ते वाजसातये । सोमाः सहस्रपाजसः ॥

vāvṛdhānāya tūrvaye pavante vājasātaye | somāḥ sahasrapājasaḥ ||

The Soma juices of unbounded vigour flow for the increasing, rapid acquisition of food.

दुहानः प्रत्नमित्पयः पवित्रे परि षिच्यते । क्रन्दन्देवाँ अजीजनत् ॥

duhānaḥ pratnamitpayaḥ pavitre pari ṣicyate | krandandevā~ ajījanat ||

Milking forth the ancient fluid, the Soma is poured into the filter and crying out genitive rates the gods.

अभि विश्वानि वार्याभि देवाँ ऋतावृधः । सोमः पुनानो अर्षति ॥

abhi viśvāni vāryābhi devā~ ṛtāvṛdhaḥ | somaḥ punāno arṣati ||

Soma, being purified hastens towards all desirable (wealth), towards the gods who favour the sacrifice.

गोमन्नः सोम वीरवदश्वावद्वाजवत्सुतः । पवस्व बृहतीरिषः ॥

gomannaḥ soma vīravadaśvāvadvājavatsutaḥ | pavasva bṛhatīriṣaḥ ||

Soma, being effused pour down to us (wealth) consisting of kine, male offspring, horses, and strength, and abundant food.
