ऋग्वेद 9.105 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

तं वः सखायो मदाय पुनानमभि गायत । शिशुं न यज्ञैः स्वदयन्त गूर्तिभिः ॥

taṃ vaḥ sakhāyo madāya punānamabhi gāyata | śiśuṃ na yajñaiḥ svadayanta gūrtibhiḥ ||

Hymn, friends, the Soma purified for the exhilaration (of the gods), gratify him with oblations and praises as (men gratify) a child (with ornaments).

सं वत्स इव मातृभिरिन्दुर्हिन्वानो अज्यते । देवावीर्मदो मतिभिः परिष्कृतः ॥

saṃ vatsa iva mātṛbhirindurhinvāno ajyate | devāvīrmado matibhiḥ pariṣkṛtaḥ ||

Indu being set forth is sprinkled (with the waters) as a calf (is nourished) by its mother-- the protector of the deities, the exhilarator, graced by praises.

अयं दक्षाय साधनोऽयं शर्धाय वीतये । अयं देवेभ्यो मधुमत्तमः सुतः ॥

ayaṃ dakṣāya sādhano'yaṃ śardhāya vītaye | ayaṃ devebhyo madhumattamaḥ sutaḥ ||

This (Soma) is an instrumental ument for invigoration; he (is useful) for speed (and) for the banquet of your gods; he is effused most sweet-flavoured for the gods.

गोमन्न इन्दो अश्ववत्सुतः सुदक्ष धन्व । शुचिं ते वर्णमधि गोषु दीधरम् ॥

gomanna indo aśvavatsutaḥ sudakṣa dhanva | śuciṃ te varṇamadhi goṣu dīdharam ||

Powerful Indu who are effused, pour upon us (wealth) comprising cattle and horses; I mix the pure juice with the curds and milk.

स नो हरीणां पत इन्दो देवप्सरस्तमः । सखेव सख्ये नर्यो रुचे भव ॥

sa no harīṇāṃ pata indo devapsarastamaḥ | sakheva sakhye naryo ruce bhava ||

Lord of our bay-coloured (cattle), Indu, who have a most brilliant form, do you who are kind to the priests be for a light to us as a friend (gives light) to a friend.

सनेमि त्वमस्मदाँ अदेवं कं चिदत्रिणम् । साह्वाँ इन्दो परि बाधो अप द्वयुम् ॥

sanemi tvamasmadā~ adevaṃ kaṃ cidatriṇam | sāhvā~ indo pari bādho apa dvayum ||

Do you (show) us your ancient (friendship), drive away the impious voracious (rākṣasa); Indu who are victorious overcome those who oppress us, (drive) off the double-dealing (rākṣas).
