ऋग्वेद 9.104 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

सखाय आ नि षीदत पुनानाय प्र गायत । शिशुं न यज्ञैः परि भूषत श्रिये ॥

sakhāya ā ni ṣīdata punānāya pra gāyata | śiśuṃ na yajñaiḥ pari bhūṣata śriye ||

Sit down, friends, sing to the filtered Soma, decorate him with offerings to beautify him as (parents decorate) a child.

समी वत्सं न मातृभिः सृजता गयसाधनम् । देवाव्यं मदमभि द्विशवसम् ॥

samī vatsaṃ na mātṛbhiḥ sṛjatā gayasādhanam | devāvyaṃ madamabhi dviśavasam ||

Associate him the support of the mansion with the maternal (waters) as the calf (with the mother) the protector of the gods, the exhilarator, endowed with twofold strength.

पुनाता दक्षसाधनं यथा शर्धाय वीतये । यथा मित्राय वरुणाय शंतमः ॥

punātā dakṣasādhanaṃ yathā śardhāya vītaye | yathā mitrāya varuṇāya śaṃtamaḥ ||

Purify the bestower of strength so that he may make for invigoration for the banquet (of the gods) and may grant much happiness to Mitra and Varuṇa.

अस्मभ्यं त्वा वसुविदमभि वाणीरनूषत । गोभिष्टे वर्णमभि वासयामसि ॥

asmabhyaṃ tvā vasuvidamabhi vāṇīranūṣata | gobhiṣṭe varṇamabhi vāsayāmasi ||

For us do the hymns glorify you the giver of wealth; we clothe your form with the (products of the) kine.

स नो मदानां पत इन्दो देवप्सरा असि । सखेव सख्ये गातुवित्तमो भव ॥

sa no madānāṃ pata indo devapsarā asi | sakheva sakhye gātuvittamo bhava ||

Lord of our exhilaration, Indu, you are of brilliant form; be our true guide as a friend is to a friend.

सनेमि कृध्यस्मदा रक्षसं कं चिदत्रिणम् । अपादेवं द्वयुमंहो युयोधि नः ॥

sanemi kṛdhyasmadā rakṣasaṃ kaṃ cidatriṇam | apādevaṃ dvayumaṃho yuyodhi naḥ ||

Show us (your) ancient (friendship); (drive off) the voracious rākṣasa, the impious, the double dealer-- drive away our sin.
