पुरोजिती वो अन्धसः सुताय मादयित्नवे । अप श्वानं श्नथिष्टन सखायो दीर्घजिह्व्यम् ॥

purojitī vo andhasaḥ sutāya mādayitnave | apa śvānaṃ śnathiṣṭana sakhāyo dīrghajihvyam ||

For (the drinking of) the effused exhilarating (juice) of the Soma who has plural ced victory before you, do you friends destroy the long-tongued dog.

यो धारया पावकया परिप्रस्यन्दते सुतः । इन्दुरश्वो न कृत्व्यः ॥

yo dhārayā pāvakayā pariprasyandate sutaḥ | induraśvo na kṛtvyaḥ ||

The Indu good for sacred rites which when effused flows forth in a purifying stream, (swift) as a horse.

तं दुरोषमभी नरः सोमं विश्वाच्या धिया । यज्ञं हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः ॥

taṃ duroṣamabhī naraḥ somaṃ viśvācyā dhiyā | yajñaṃ hinvantyadribhiḥ ||

Him, the Soma unassailable, adorable, the priests, with all comprehending intelligence, express with the stones.

सुतासो मधुमत्तमाः सोमा इन्द्राय मन्दिनः । पवित्रवन्तो अक्षरन्देवान्गच्छन्तु वो मदाः ॥

sutāso madhumattamāḥ somā indrāya mandinaḥ | pavitravanto akṣarandevāngacchantu vo madāḥ ||

The sweet-flavoured exhilarating Soma juices effused (and) filtered flow for Indra; do you, exhilarating (juices) proceed to the gods.

इन्दुरिन्द्राय पवत इति देवासो अब्रुवन् । वाचस्पतिर्मखस्यते विश्वस्येशान ओजसा ॥

indurindrāya pavata iti devāso abruvan | vācaspatirmakhasyate viśvasyeśāna ojasā ||

The devout (worshippers) say 'Indu flows forth for Indra'; the lord of speech (Soma) soverign of all by his might desires (our) worship.

सहस्रधारः पवते समुद्रो वाचमीङ्खयः । सोमः पती रयीणां सखेन्द्रस्य दिवेदिवे ॥

sahasradhāraḥ pavate samudro vācamīṅkhayaḥ | somaḥ patī rayīṇāṃ sakhendrasya divedive ||

The thousand-streamed ocean, Soma the stimulator of praise, the lord of riches, the friend of Indra flows day by day.

अयं पूषा रयिर्भगः सोमः पुनानो अर्षति । पतिर्विश्वस्य भूमनो व्यख्यद्रोदसी उभे ॥

ayaṃ pūṣā rayirbhagaḥ somaḥ punāno arṣati | patirviśvasya bhūmano vyakhyadrodasī ubhe ||

This Soma being purified hastens (to the pitcher) fostering, wealth-giving, to be enjoyed (by all); the lord of all beings, he has illuminated both heaven and earth.

समु प्रिया अनूषत गावो मदाय घृष्वयः । सोमासः कृण्वते पथः पवमानास इन्दवः ॥

samu priyā anūṣata gāvo madāya ghṛṣvayaḥ | somāsaḥ kṛṇvate pathaḥ pavamānāsa indavaḥ ||

The affectionate emulous cows celebrate (Soma) for his exhilaration; the brilliant filtered (Soma) juices make paths (for themselves to flow).

य ओजिष्ठस्तमा भर पवमान श्रवाय्यम् । यः पञ्च चर्षणीरभि रयिं येन वनामहै ॥

ya ojiṣṭhastamā bhara pavamāna śravāyyam | yaḥ pañca carṣaṇīrabhi rayiṃ yena vanāmahai ||

Bring to us, filtered (Soma), that celebrated (beverage) which is most potent, which (waits) upon the fiver orders of beings and by which we may obtain riches.

सोमाः पवन्त इन्दवोऽस्मभ्यं गातुवित्तमाः । मित्राः सुवाना अरेपसः स्वाध्यः स्वर्विदः ॥

somāḥ pavanta indavo'smabhyaṃ gātuvittamāḥ | mitrāḥ suvānā arepasaḥ svādhyaḥ svarvidaḥ ||

The brilliant Soma juices flow for us knowing the right path, friendly (to the gods), effused sinless, contemplative, all-knowing.

सुष्वाणासो व्यद्रिभिश्चिताना गोरधि त्वचि । इषमस्मभ्यमभितः समस्वरन्वसुविदः ॥

suṣvāṇāso vyadribhiścitānā goradhi tvaci | iṣamasmabhyamabhitaḥ samasvaranvasuvidaḥ ||

Effused by the stones, recognized upon the cowhide acquirers of wealth they bestow food upon us from all sides.

एते पूता विपश्चितः सोमासो दध्याशिरः । सूर्यासो न दर्शतासो जिगत्नवो ध्रुवा घृते ॥

ete pūtā vipaścitaḥ somāso dadhyāśiraḥ | sūryāso na darśatāso jigatnavo dhruvā ghṛte ||

These filtered Soma juices, intelligent, mixed with curds, swift-moving, firm in the water (are) brilliant as suns.

प्र सुन्वानस्यान्धसो मर्तो न वृत तद्वचः । अप श्वानमराधसं हता मखं न भृगवः ॥

pra sunvānasyāndhaso marto na vṛta tadvacaḥ | apa śvānamarādhasaṃ hatā makhaṃ na bhṛgavaḥ ||

Let no mortal hear the sound of the effused Soma; drive off the dog that sacrifices not as the Bhṛgus drove off Makha.

आ जामिरत्के अव्यत भुजे न पुत्र ओण्योः । सरज्जारो न योषणां वरो न योनिमासदम् ॥

ā jāmiratke avyata bhuje na putra oṇyoḥ | sarajjāro na yoṣaṇāṃ varo na yonimāsadam ||

(Soma) the kinsman (of the gods) is enveloped in the investing filter like a child in the arms of its protecting parents; he hastens like a gallant to a mistress, like a bridegroom (to the bride) to sit upon his station (the pitcher).

स वीरो दक्षसाधनो वि यस्तस्तम्भ रोदसी । हरिः पवित्रे अव्यत वेधा न योनिमासदम् ॥

sa vīro dakṣasādhano vi yastastambha rodasī | hariḥ pavitre avyata vedhā na yonimāsadam ||

The green-tinted (Soma), the implement of strength, the hero, who has upheld heaven and earth, is enveloped in the filter like the sacrificer (in his house) to sit upon his station.

अव्यो वारेभिः पवते सोमो गव्ये अधि त्वचि । कनिक्रदद्वृषा हरिरिन्द्रस्याभ्येति निष्कृतम् ॥

avyo vārebhiḥ pavate somo gavye adhi tvaci | kanikradadvṛṣā haririndrasyābhyeti niṣkṛtam ||

The Soma flows purified by the sheep's hairs; crying aloud upon the cowhide for the showerer (of benefits), green-tinted he goes to Indra's prepared station.
