[rv-8-82] • 9 श्लोकाः

आ प्र द्रव परावतोऽर्वावतश्च वृत्रहन् । मध्वः प्रति प्रभर्मणि ॥

ā pra drava parāvato'rvāvataśca vṛtrahan | madhvaḥ prati prabharmaṇi ||

Hasten, slayer of Vṛtra, from afar or from near to the exhilarating (Soma-libations) in the sacrifice.

तीव्राः सोमास आ गहि सुतासो मादयिष्णवः । पिबा दधृग्यथोचिषे ॥

tīvrāḥ somāsa ā gahi sutāso mādayiṣṇavaḥ | pibā dadhṛgyathociṣe ||

Come here, the strong intoxicating Soma is effused; drink, since you are boldly devoted to it.

इषा मन्दस्वादु तेऽरं वराय मन्यवे । भुवत्त इन्द्र शं हृदे ॥

iṣā mandasvādu te'raṃ varāya manyave | bhuvatta indra śaṃ hṛde ||

Rejoice yourself with this food-- may it forthwith avail to (quench) your foe-restraining anger, may itproduce happiness, Indra, in your heart.

आ त्वशत्रवा गहि न्युक्थानि च हूयसे । उपमे रोचने दिवः ॥

ā tvaśatravā gahi nyukthāni ca hūyase | upame rocane divaḥ ||

O you who have no enemies, come here; you are summoned from the resplendent heaven to the hymnsat this our rite near at hand in this world illumined (by the sacred rites).

तुभ्यायमद्रिभिः सुतो गोभिः श्रीतो मदाय कम् । प्र सोम इन्द्र हूयते ॥

tubhyāyamadribhiḥ suto gobhiḥ śrīto madāya kam | pra soma indra hūyate ||

Indra, this Soma, effused for you by the stones and mixed with milk, is offered auspiciously (in the fire)for your exhilaration.

इन्द्र श्रुधि सु मे हवमस्मे सुतस्य गोमतः । वि पीतिं तृप्तिमश्नुहि ॥

indra śrudhi su me havamasme sutasya gomataḥ | vi pītiṃ tṛptimaśnuhi ||

Indra, hear with favour my call; be present at the drinking of this our libation mixed with milk and besatisfied.

य इन्द्र चमसेष्वा सोमश्चमूषु ते सुतः । पिबेदस्य त्वमीशिषे ॥

ya indra camaseṣvā somaścamūṣu te sutaḥ | pibedasya tvamīśiṣe ||

Whatever Soma has been poured into the cups and the bowls for you, drink it, Indra-- you are thesovereign.

यो अप्सु चन्द्रमा इव सोमश्चमूषु ददृशे । पिबेदस्य त्वमीशिषे ॥

yo apsu candramā iva somaścamūṣu dadṛśe | pibedasya tvamīśiṣe ||

Whatever Soma is seen in the vessels like the moon (reflected) in the waters, drink it-- you are thesovereign.

यं ते श्येनः पदाभरत्तिरो रजांस्यस्पृतम् । पिबेदस्य त्वमीशिषे ॥

yaṃ te śyenaḥ padābharattiro rajāṃsyaspṛtam | pibedasya tvamīśiṣe ||

Whatever Soma the hawk bore for you with its feet, having won it, till then inviolate, from the (guardiansof the) upper worlds, drink it-- you are the sovereign.
