[rv-8-81] • 9 श्लोकाः

आ तू न इन्द्र क्षुमन्तं चित्रं ग्राभं सं गृभाय । महाहस्ती दक्षिणेन ॥

ā tū na indra kṣumantaṃ citraṃ grābhaṃ saṃ gṛbhāya | mahāhastī dakṣiṇena ||

Indra, lord of the mighty hand, do you seize for us with your right hand marvellous praise-exciting(riches), worthy to be seized.

विद्मा हि त्वा तुविकूर्मिं तुविदेष्णं तुवीमघम् । तुविमात्रमवोभिः ॥

vidmā hi tvā tuvikūrmiṃ tuvideṣṇaṃ tuvīmagham | tuvimātramavobhiḥ ||

We know you the achiever of many great deeds, the bestower of many gifts, the lord of much wealth,vast in size, and full of protection (for your worshippeers).

नहि त्वा शूर देवा न मर्तासो दित्सन्तम् । भीमं न गां वारयन्ते ॥

nahi tvā śūra devā na martāso ditsantam | bhīmaṃ na gāṃ vārayante ||

Hero, when you desire to give, neither gods nor men can stay you, as (they cannot stay) a terrible bull.

एतो न्विन्द्रं स्तवामेशानं वस्वः स्वराजम् । न राधसा मर्धिषन्नः ॥

eto nvindraṃ stavāmeśānaṃ vasvaḥ svarājam | na rādhasā mardhiṣannaḥ ||

Hasten here, let us glorify Indra the lord of wealth, the self- resplendent, let none vex, us by his wealth.

प्र स्तोषदुप गासिषच्छ्रवत्साम गीयमानम् । अभि राधसा जुगुरत् ॥

pra stoṣadupa gāsiṣacchravatsāma gīyamānam | abhi rādhasā jugurat ||

May (Indra) sing the prelude, may he sing the accompaniment, may he listen to our hymn as it ischanted; may he, endowed with wealth, accept us favourably.

आ नो भर दक्षिणेनाभि सव्येन प्र मृश । इन्द्र मा नो वसोर्निर्भाक् ॥

ā no bhara dakṣiṇenābhi savyena pra mṛśa | indra mā no vasornirbhāk ||

Bring us (gifts) with your right hand, and with your left bestow them on us; exclude us not, Indra, fromwealth.

उप क्रमस्वा भर धृषता धृष्णो जनानाम् । अदाशूष्टरस्य वेदः ॥

upa kramasvā bhara dhṛṣatā dhṛṣṇo janānām | adāśūṣṭarasya vedaḥ ||

Come here, and bring us, daring one, with your resolute (mind), the wealth of him who is pre-eminentlya niggard among men.

इन्द्र य उ नु ते अस्ति वाजो विप्रेभिः सनित्वः । अस्माभिः सु तं सनुहि ॥

indra ya u nu te asti vājo viprebhiḥ sanitvaḥ | asmābhiḥ su taṃ sanuhi ||

O Indra, give us abundantly that wealth is yours, and which is to be obtained by the wise (worshippers).

सद्योजुवस्ते वाजा अस्मभ्यं विश्वश्चन्द्राः । वशैश्च मक्षू जरन्ते ॥

sadyojuvaste vājā asmabhyaṃ viśvaścandrāḥ | vaśaiśca makṣū jarante ||

May your all-rejoicing riches speedily come to us; full of desires, men immediately offer their praises.
