[rv-8-54] • 8 श्लोकाः

एतत्त इन्द्र वीर्यं गीर्भिर्गृणन्ति कारवः । ते स्तोभन्त ऊर्जमावन्घृतश्चुतं पौरासो नक्षन्धीतिभिः ॥

etatta indra vīryaṃ gīrbhirgṛṇanti kāravaḥ | te stobhanta ūrjamāvanghṛtaścutaṃ paurāso nakṣandhītibhiḥ ||

The singers with their hymns, O Indra, this might of yours; singing loudly, they have brought you sacredviands dropping with Soma; the offerers have drawn near with their prayers.

नक्षन्त इन्द्रमवसे सुकृत्यया येषां सुतेषु मन्दसे । यथा संवर्ते अमदो यथा कृश एवास्मे इन्द्र मत्स्व ॥

nakṣanta indramavase sukṛtyayā yeṣāṃ suteṣu mandase | yathā saṃvarte amado yathā kṛśa evāsme indra matsva ||

They have drawn near Indra with holy rites for his protection, they in whose libations you rejoice; as youdid rejoice in Samvara and Kṛśa, so now, Indra, do you rejoice in us.

आ नो विश्वे सजोषसो देवासो गन्तनोप नः । वसवो रुद्रा अवसे न आ गमञ्छृण्वन्तु मरुतो हवम् ॥

ā no viśve sajoṣaso devāso gantanopa naḥ | vasavo rudrā avase na ā gamañchṛṇvantu maruto havam ||

You gods, come all with one accord to us; let the Vasus and Rudras come for our protection, let theMaruts hear our call.

पूषा विष्णुर्हवनं मे सरस्वत्यवन्तु सप्त सिन्धवः । आपो वातः पर्वतासो वनस्पतिः शृणोतु पृथिवी हवम् ॥

pūṣā viṣṇurhavanaṃ me sarasvatyavantu sapta sindhavaḥ | āpo vātaḥ parvatāso vanaspatiḥ śṛṇotu pṛthivī havam ||

May Pūṣan, Viṣṇu, Sarsvatī, and the seven rivers, favour my call; may the waters, the wind, themountains, the trees, the earth, hear my call.

यदिन्द्र राधो अस्ति ते माघोनं मघवत्तम । तेन नो बोधि सधमाद्यो वृधे भगो दानाय वृत्रहन् ॥

yadindra rādho asti te māghonaṃ maghavattama | tena no bodhi sadhamādyo vṛdhe bhago dānāya vṛtrahan ||

With yours own special gift, O Indra, best of Maghavans, be you our boon-companion for good, ourliberal benefactor, O slayer of Vṛtra.

आजिपते नृपते त्वमिद्धि नो वाज आ वक्षि सुक्रतो । वीती होत्राभिरुत देववीतिभिः ससवांसो वि शृण्विरे ॥

ājipate nṛpate tvamiddhi no vāja ā vakṣi sukrato | vītī hotrābhiruta devavītibhiḥ sasavāṃso vi śṛṇvire ||

O lord of battle, lord of men, mighty in action, do you guide us in the conflict; far-famed are those whoobtain their desires by sacrificial feasts, by invocations, and by entertaining the gods.

सन्ति ह्यर्य आशिष इन्द्र आयुर्जनानाम् । अस्मान्नक्षस्व मघवन्नुपावसे धुक्षस्व पिप्युषीमिषम् ॥

santi hyarya āśiṣa indra āyurjanānām | asmānnakṣasva maghavannupāvase dhukṣasva pipyuṣīmiṣam ||

Our prayers abide in the true one, in Indra is the life of men; draw near to us, Maghavan, for ourprotection; milk for the streaming drink.

वयं त इन्द्र स्तोमेभिर्विधेम त्वमस्माकं शतक्रतो । महि स्थूरं शशयं राधो अह्रयं प्रस्कण्वाय नि तोशय ॥

vayaṃ ta indra stomebhirvidhema tvamasmākaṃ śatakrato | mahi sthūraṃ śaśayaṃ rādho ahrayaṃ praskaṇvāya ni tośaya ||

O Indra, we would worship you with hymns; O Śatakratu, you are ours; pour down upon Praśkaṇvagreat, solid, inexhaustible, exuberant abundance.
