[rv-8-53] • 8 श्लोकाः

उपमं त्वा मघोनां ज्येष्ठं च वृषभाणाम् । पूर्भित्तमं मघवन्निन्द्र गोविदमीशानं राय ईमहे ॥

upamaṃ tvā maghonāṃ jyeṣṭhaṃ ca vṛṣabhāṇām | pūrbhittamaṃ maghavannindra govidamīśānaṃ rāya īmahe ||

We come to you, O Maghavan Indra, the highest of Maghavans, the strong of bulls, the mightiestbreakere of forts, the provider of kine, the lord of wealth.

य आयुं कुत्समतिथिग्वमर्दयो वावृधानो दिवेदिवे । तं त्वा वयं हर्यश्वं शतक्रतुं वाजयन्तो हवामहे ॥

ya āyuṃ kutsamatithigvamardayo vāvṛdhāno divedive | taṃ tvā vayaṃ haryaśvaṃ śatakratuṃ vājayanto havāmahe ||

You who, waxing in might day by day, did destroy Āyu, Kutsa, and Atithigva, we invoke you,Śatakratu, with your bay horses, rousing you by our offerings.

आ नो विश्वेषां रसं मध्वः सिञ्चन्त्वद्रयः । ये परावति सुन्विरे जनेष्वा ये अर्वावतीन्दवः ॥

ā no viśveṣāṃ rasaṃ madhvaḥ siñcantvadrayaḥ | ye parāvati sunvire janeṣvā ye arvāvatīndavaḥ ||

Let the stones our forth the Soma for us all, the Soma-drops which have been pressed by men afar ornear.

विश्वा द्वेषांसि जहि चाव चा कृधि विश्वे सन्वन्त्वा वसु । शीष्टेषु चित्ते मदिरासो अंशवो यत्रा सोमस्य तृम्पसि ॥

viśvā dveṣāṃsi jahi cāva cā kṛdhi viśve sanvantvā vasu | śīṣṭeṣu citte madirāso aṃśavo yatrā somasya tṛmpasi ||

Smite all our enemies and drive them away, may we all obtain their wealth; even amont the Śīṣṭasare you exhilarating Soma-stalks, where you fill yourself with the Soma.

इन्द्र नेदीय एदिहि मितमेधाभिरूतिभिः । आ शंतम शंतमाभिरभिष्टिभिरा स्वापे स्वापिभिः ॥

indra nedīya edihi mitamedhābhirūtibhiḥ | ā śaṃtama śaṃtamābhirabhiṣṭibhirā svāpe svāpibhiḥ ||

Indra, come very near with your firmly-wise protections; come, O most healthful, with your mos healthfulaid, come, good kinsma, with your good kinsmen.

आजितुरं सत्पतिं विश्वचर्षणिं कृधि प्रजास्वाभगम् । प्र सू तिरा शचीभिर्ये त उक्थिनः क्रतुं पुनत आनुषक् ॥

ājituraṃ satpatiṃ viśvacarṣaṇiṃ kṛdhi prajāsvābhagam | pra sū tirā śacībhirye ta ukthinaḥ kratuṃ punata ānuṣak ||

Make rich in children that chief of all me, who is victorious in battle and a strong protector; properthoroughly with your powers your singers who cintinually purify their minds.

यस्ते साधिष्ठोऽवसे ते स्याम भरेषु ते । वयं होत्राभिरुत देवहूतिभिः ससवांसो मनामहे ॥

yaste sādhiṣṭho'vase te syāma bhareṣu te | vayaṃ hotrābhiruta devahūtibhiḥ sasavāṃso manāmahe ||

May we be in battle as one who is the sure to gain your protection; we worship you with invocationsand prayers wen we obtain our desire.

अहं हि ते हरिवो ब्रह्म वाजयुराजिं यामि सदोतिभिः । त्वामिदेव तममे समश्वयुर्गव्युरग्रे मथीनाम् ॥

ahaṃ hi te harivo brahma vājayurājiṃ yāmi sadotibhiḥ | tvāmideva tamame samaśvayurgavyuragre mathīnām ||

With your help, O lord of bay steeds, I always go into prayer and into battle, seeking spoil; it is youwhom I insist upon, when I go, longing for horses and kine, at the head of plural nders.
