[rv-8-34] • 18 श्लोकाः

एन्द्र याहि हरिभिरुप कण्वस्य सुष्टुतिम् । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

endra yāhi haribhirupa kaṇvasya suṣṭutim | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Come, Indra, with your horses to receive the praise of Kaṇva; do you, ruling yonder heaven, O radiantwith oblations, return here.

आ त्वा ग्रावा वदन्निह सोमी घोषेण यच्छतु । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā tvā grāvā vadanniha somī ghoṣeṇa yacchatu | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

May the grinding stone, yielding the Soma as it utters a sound, bring you here with the noise; do you,ruling yonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

अत्रा वि नेमिरेषामुरां न धूनुते वृकः । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

atrā vi nemireṣāmurāṃ na dhūnute vṛkaḥ | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

The circumference of these (stones) shakes (the Soma) at this (rite), as a wolf (terrifies) a sheep doyou, ruling yonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ त्वा कण्वा इहावसे हवन्ते वाजसातये । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā tvā kaṇvā ihāvase havante vājasātaye | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

The Kaṇvas invoke you here for protection and for food; do you, ruling yonder heaven, O radiant withoblations, return here.

दधामि ते सुतानां वृष्णे न पूर्वपाय्यम् । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

dadhāmi te sutānāṃ vṛṣṇe na pūrvapāyyam | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

I make offering to you of the libations as the first drink is presented to the showerer; do you, rulingyonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

स्मत्पुरंधिर्न आ गहि विश्वतोधीर्न ऊतये । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

smatpuraṃdhirna ā gahi viśvatodhīrna ūtaye | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

(Indra) master of the family of heaven, come to us; do you, ruling yonder heaven, O radiant withoblations, return here.

आ नो याहि महेमते सहस्रोते शतामघ । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā no yāhi mahemate sahasrote śatāmagha | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Sagacious (Indra) bestower of numerous protections, granter of infinite wealth, come uno us; do you,ruling yonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ त्वा होता मनुर्हितो देवत्रा वक्षदीड्यः । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā tvā hotā manurhito devatrā vakṣadīḍyaḥ | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

May (Agni) the invoker, adorable among the gods, the benefactor of man, bring you here; do you, rulingyonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ त्वा मदच्युता हरी श्येनं पक्षेव वक्षतः । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā tvā madacyutā harī śyenaṃ pakṣeva vakṣataḥ | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Let your two steeds, humiliators of the pride (of foes), bring you as (his) two wings (bear along) thefalcon; do you, ruling yonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ याह्यर्य आ परि स्वाहा सोमस्य पीतये । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā yāhyarya ā pari svāhā somasya pītaye | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Come, lord, from whatever direction, to drink the Soma offered with svāhā; do you, ruling yonderheaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ नो याह्युपश्रुत्युक्थेषु रणया इह । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā no yāhyupaśrutyuktheṣu raṇayā iha | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Come to listen to our praises, when they are being recited-- bestow upon us delight; do you, rulingyonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

सरूपैरा सु नो गहि सम्भृतैः सम्भृताश्वः । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

sarūpairā su no gahi sambhṛtaiḥ sambhṛtāśvaḥ | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Indra, who are possessed of cherished steeds, come to us with (your) well-fed and like-shaped horses;do you, ruling yonder heaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ याहि पर्वतेभ्यः समुद्रस्याधि विष्टपः । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā yāhi parvatebhyaḥ samudrasyādhi viṣṭapaḥ | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Come from the mountains, from above the region of the firmament; do you, ruling yonder heaven, Oradiant with oblations, return here.

आ नो गव्यान्यश्व्या सहस्रा शूर दर्दृहि । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā no gavyānyaśvyā sahasrā śūra dardṛhi | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Bestow upon us, hero, thousands of herds of cattle and horses; do you, ruling yonder heaven, Oradiant with oblations, return here.

आ नः सहस्रशो भरायुतानि शतानि च । दिवो अमुष्य शासतो दिवं यय दिवावसो ॥

ā naḥ sahasraśo bharāyutāni śatāni ca | divo amuṣya śāsato divaṃ yaya divāvaso ||

Bring to us, by thousands, tens of thousands, and hundres (of good things); do you, ruling yonderheaven, O radiant with oblations, return here.

आ यदिन्द्रश्च दद्वहे सहस्रं वसुरोचिषः । ओजिष्ठमश्व्यं पशुम् ॥

ā yadindraśca dadvahe sahasraṃ vasurociṣaḥ | ojiṣṭhamaśvyaṃ paśum ||

We, the thousand Vasurociṣas, and Indra (our leader), when we obtain vigorous herds of horseṣ..

य ऋज्रा वातरंहसोऽरुषासो रघुष्यदः । भ्राजन्ते सूर्या इव ॥

ya ṛjrā vātaraṃhaso'ruṣāso raghuṣyadaḥ | bhrājante sūryā iva ||

Such as are straight-going, fleet as the wind, bright-coloured, light- footed, and shine like the suṇ..

पारावतस्य रातिषु द्रवच्चक्रेष्वाशुषु । तिष्ठं वनस्य मध्य आ ॥

pārāvatasya rātiṣu dravaccakreṣvāśuṣu | tiṣṭhaṃ vanasya madhya ā ||

Then (having received) the horses, attached to the rolling-wheeled chariot, given from afar, we departto the middle of the forest.
