[rv-8-29] • 10 श्लोकाः

बभ्रुरेको विषुणः सूनरो युवाञ्ज्यङ्क्ते हिरण्ययम् ॥

babhrureko viṣuṇaḥ sūnaro yuvāñjyaṅkte hiraṇyayam ||

One (Soma) brown of hue, all-pervading, leader of the nights, ever young, decorates (himself) withgolden ornament.

योनिमेक आ ससाद द्योतनोऽन्तर्देवेषु मेधिरः ॥

yonimeka ā sasāda dyotano'ntardeveṣu medhiraḥ ||

One (Agni) intelligent, resplended among the gods, is seated in his plural ce (the altar).

वाशीमेको बिभर्ति हस्त आयसीमन्तर्देवेषु निध्रुविः ॥

vāśīmeko bibharti hasta āyasīmantardeveṣu nidhruviḥ ||

One (Tvaṣṭā) immoveably stationed among the gods, holds his metal axe in his hand.

वज्रमेको बिभर्ति हस्त आहितं तेन वृत्राणि जिघ्नते ॥

vajrameko bibharti hasta āhitaṃ tena vṛtrāṇi jighnate ||

One (Indra) holds his thunderbol wielded in his hand, by which he slays the Vṛtras.

तिग्ममेको बिभर्ति हस्त आयुधं शुचिरुग्रो जलाषभेषजः ॥

tigmameko bibharti hasta āyudhaṃ śucirugro jalāṣabheṣajaḥ ||

One (Rudra) brilliant and fierce, (yet) the distributor of healing medicines, holds his sharp weapon in hishand.

पथ एकः पीपाय तस्करो यथाँ एष वेद निधीनाम् ॥

patha ekaḥ pīpāya taskaro yathā~ eṣa veda nidhīnām ||

One (Pūṣan) watches the roads like a robber, and is cognizant of hidden treasures.

त्रीण्येक उरुगायो वि चक्रमे यत्र देवासो मदन्ति ॥

trīṇyeka urugāyo vi cakrame yatra devāso madanti ||

One (Viṣṇu) wide-stepping, has traversed the three worlds where the gods rejoice.

विभिर्द्वा चरत एकया सह प्र प्रवासेव वसतः ॥

vibhirdvā carata ekayā saha pra pravāseva vasataḥ ||

Two (the Aśvins), travel with swift (horses) along with one (bride Sūrya), like travellers to foreigncountries.

सदो द्वा चक्राते उपमा दिवि सम्राजा सर्पिरासुती ॥

sado dvā cakrāte upamā divi samrājā sarpirāsutī ||

Two of like beauty and of royal rank (Mitra and Varuṇa), worshipped with oblations of clarified butter,have taken their seat in heaven.

अर्चन्त एके महि साम मन्वत तेन सूर्यमरोचयन् ॥

arcanta eke mahi sāma manvata tena sūryamarocayan ||

Some (the Atris) when worshipping, call to mind the great Sāman, wherewith they light up the suṇ
