ऋग्वेद 8.28 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

ये त्रिंशति त्रयस्परो देवासो बर्हिरासदन् । विदन्नह द्वितासनन् ॥

ye triṃśati trayasparo devāso barhirāsadan | vidannaha dvitāsanan ||

May the three-and-thirty divinities sit down upon the sacred grass; may they accept (our offerings), andbestow upon us both (sorts of wealth).

वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा स्मद्रातिषाचो अग्नयः । पत्नीवन्तो वषट्कृताः ॥

varuṇo mitro aryamā smadrātiṣāco agnayaḥ | patnīvanto vaṣaṭkṛtāḥ ||

May Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman and the Agnis, with their wives, honouring the donors (of the oblation),and addressed with the sacrificial exclamation.

ते नो गोपा अपाच्यास्त उदक्त इत्था न्यक् । पुरस्तात्सर्वया विशा ॥

te no gopā apācyāsta udakta itthā nyak | purastātsarvayā viśā ||

Be our protectors, whether coming with all their attendants from the west, from the north, from thesouth, from the east.

यथा वशन्ति देवास्तथेदसत्तदेषां नकिरा मिनत् । अरावा चन मर्त्यः ॥

yathā vaśanti devāstathedasattadeṣāṃ nakirā minat | arāvā cana martyaḥ ||

Whatever the gods desire, that assuredly comes to pass; no one can resist their (will), no mortalwithholds (their) offerings.

सप्तानां सप्त ऋष्टयः सप्त द्युम्नान्येषाम् । सप्तो अधि श्रियो धिरे ॥

saptānāṃ sapta ṛṣṭayaḥ sapta dyumnānyeṣām | sapto adhi śriyo dhire ||

Seven are he lances of the seven (troops of the Maruts), seven are their ornaments, they wear sevensurpassing glories.
