[rv-8-26] • 25 श्लोकाः

युवोरु षू रथं हुवे सधस्तुत्याय सूरिषु । अतूर्तदक्षा वृषणा वृषण्वसू ॥

yuvoru ṣū rathaṃ huve sadhastutyāya sūriṣu | atūrtadakṣā vṛṣaṇā vṛṣaṇvasū ||

(Aśvins) of irresistible strength, affluent showerers (of benefits), I invoke your chariot amid the pious,who are assembled to celebrate your presence.

युवं वरो सुषाम्णे महे तने नासत्या । अवोभिर्याथो वृषणा वृषण्वसू ॥

yuvaṃ varo suṣāmṇe mahe tane nāsatyā | avobhiryātho vṛṣaṇā vṛṣaṇvasū ||

(Say), Varu (thus), Nāsatyās, senders of rain, affluent showerers (of benefits), as you came toSuṣāman with your protections to (grant him) great riches, (so come to me).

ता वामद्य हवामहे हव्येभिर्वाजिनीवसू । पूर्वीरिष इषयन्तावति क्षपः ॥

tā vāmadya havāmahe havyebhirvājinīvasū | pūrvīriṣa iṣayantāvati kṣapaḥ ||

Affluent in nourishment, we invoke you, who are desirous of (sacrificial) food, on this occasion at dawnwith oblations.

आ वां वाहिष्ठो अश्विना रथो यातु श्रुतो नरा । उप स्तोमान्तुरस्य दर्शथः श्रिये ॥

ā vāṃ vāhiṣṭho aśvinā ratho yātu śruto narā | upa stomānturasya darśathaḥ śriye ||

Leaders (of rites), let your renowned all-conveying chariot come to us, and (do you) recognize thepraisers of the zealous (worshipper) for his prosperity.

जुहुराणा चिदश्विना मन्येथां वृषण्वसू । युवं हि रुद्रा पर्षथो अति द्विषः ॥

juhurāṇā cidaśvinā manyethāṃ vṛṣaṇvasū | yuvaṃ hi rudrā parṣatho ati dviṣaḥ ||

Aśvins, affluent showerers (of benefits), detect the guileful, verily, Rudras, vex your adversaries.

दस्रा हि विश्वमानुषङ्मक्षूभिः परिदीयथः । धियंजिन्वा मधुवर्णा शुभस्पती ॥

dasrā hi viśvamānuṣaṅmakṣūbhiḥ paridīyathaḥ | dhiyaṃjinvā madhuvarṇā śubhaspatī ||

Dasras, who are gratified by sacred rites, of fascinating complexion, lords of rain, pass with your fleet(horses) completely round our entier (sacrifice).

उप नो यातमश्विना राया विश्वपुषा सह । मघवाना सुवीरावनपच्युता ॥

upa no yātamaśvinā rāyā viśvapuṣā saha | maghavānā suvīrāvanapacyutā ||

Come to us, Aśvins, with all-supporting riches, for you are opulent, heroic, overthrown of none.

आ मे अस्य प्रतीव्यमिन्द्रनासत्या गतम् । देवा देवेभिरद्य सचनस्तमा ॥

ā me asya pratīvyamindranāsatyā gatam | devā devebhiradya sacanastamā ||

Indra and Nāsatyās, who are most accessible, come to this my sacrifice; come, gods, today with(other) divinities.

वयं हि वां हवामह उक्षण्यन्तो व्यश्ववत् । सुमतिभिरुप विप्राविहा गतम् ॥

vayaṃ hi vāṃ havāmaha ukṣaṇyanto vyaśvavat | sumatibhirupa viprāvihā gatam ||

Desirous of you who are bestowers of wealth, we invoke you, as did (your father) Vyaśva; come,sagacious Aśvins, here with favourable intentions.

अश्विना स्वृषे स्तुहि कुवित्ते श्रवतो हवम् । नेदीयसः कूऴयातः पणीँरुत ॥

aśvinā svṛṣe stuhi kuvitte śravato havam | nedīyasaḥ kūḻayātaḥ paṇī~ruta ||

Praise the Aśvins devoutly, Ṛṣi, that they may repeatedly hear your invocation, and destroy thenearest (approaching enemies) and the Paṇis.

वैयश्वस्य श्रुतं नरोतो मे अस्य वेदथः । सजोषसा वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा ॥

vaiyaśvasya śrutaṃ naroto me asya vedathaḥ | sajoṣasā varuṇo mitro aryamā ||

Hear, leaders (of rites), (the invocation) of me the son of Vyaśva, and understand its (purport), and mayVaruṇa, Mitra ans Aryaman concurrently (grant me wealth).

युवादत्तस्य धिष्ण्या युवानीतस्य सूरिभिः । अहरहर्वृषण मह्यं शिक्षतम् ॥

yuvādattasya dhiṣṇyā yuvānītasya sūribhiḥ | aharaharvṛṣaṇa mahyaṃ śikṣatam ||

Adorable showerers (of benefits), bestow daily upon me (some) of that (wealth) which is given by you,which is brought by you for the worshippers.

यो वां यज्ञेभिरावृतोऽधिवस्त्रा वधूरिव । सपर्यन्ता शुभे चक्राते अश्विना ॥

yo vāṃ yajñebhirāvṛto'dhivastrā vadhūriva | saparyantā śubhe cakrāte aśvinā ||

The man who is enveloped in sacrifices (offered) to you, like a woman with additional raiment,rewarding him, Aśvins, you plural ce him in prosperity.

यो वामुरुव्यचस्तमं चिकेतति नृपाय्यम् । वर्तिरश्विना परि यातमस्मयू ॥

yo vāmuruvyacastamaṃ ciketati nṛpāyyam | vartiraśvinā pari yātamasmayū ||

Favourably disposed towards me, come, Aśvins, to the dwelling of him who knows (how to prepare foryou) the most copiously effused (libation) to be drunk by the leaders (of rites).

अस्मभ्यं सु वृषण्वसू यातं वर्तिर्नृपाय्यम् । विषुद्रुहेव यज्ञमूहथुर्गिरा ॥

asmabhyaṃ su vṛṣaṇvasū yātaṃ vartirnṛpāyyam | viṣudruheva yajñamūhathurgirā ||

Affluent showerers (of benefits), come to our dwelling for (the libation) to be drunk by the leaders (ofrites), for you bring the sacrifice to completion by praise, as the fatal shaft (slays the deer).

वाहिष्ठो वां हवानां स्तोमो दूतो हुवन्नरा । युवाभ्यां भूत्वश्विना ॥

vāhiṣṭho vāṃ havānāṃ stomo dūto huvannarā | yuvābhyāṃ bhūtvaśvinā ||

Aśvins, leaders (of rites), among (all) invocations may my most earnest praise invoke you as amessenger may it be (acceptable) to you.

यददो दिवो अर्णव इषो वा मदथो गृहे । श्रुतमिन्मे अमर्त्या ॥

yadado divo arṇava iṣo vā madatho gṛhe | śrutaminme amartyā ||

Whether, immortal (Aśvins), you rejoice in the water of the firmament, or in the dwelling of theworshipper hear this my (invocation).

उत स्या श्वेतयावरी वाहिष्ठा वां नदीनाम् । सिन्धुर्हिरण्यवर्तनिः ॥

uta syā śvetayāvarī vāhiṣṭhā vāṃ nadīnām | sindhurhiraṇyavartaniḥ ||

Verily this Śvetayāvarī, the golden-pathed river, is of all rivers the especial bearer of your (praises).

स्मदेतया सुकीर्त्याश्विना श्वेतया धिया । वहेथे शुभ्रयावाना ॥

smadetayā sukīrtyāśvinā śvetayā dhiyā | vahethe śubhrayāvānā ||

Aśvins, following a brilliant course, you acquire celebrity by the white river worthily praising you theenricher (of the peole on its banks).

युक्ष्वा हि त्वं रथासहा युवस्व पोष्या वसो । आन्नो वायो मधु पिबास्माकं सवना गहि ॥

yukṣvā hi tvaṃ rathāsahā yuvasva poṣyā vaso | ānno vāyo madhu pibāsmākaṃ savanā gahi ||

Yoke your chariot-drawing horses, Vāyu; bring them, Vasu, encouraged (to the sacrifice); then drinkour Soma, come to our daily libations.

तव वायवृतस्पते त्वष्टुर्जामातरद्भुत । अवांस्या वृणीमहे ॥

tava vāyavṛtaspate tvaṣṭurjāmātaradbhuta | avāṃsyā vṛṇīmahe ||

We solicit your protection, Vāyu, lord of sacrifice wonderful son-in- law of Tvaṣṭā.

त्वष्टुर्जामातरं वयमीशानं राय ईमहे । सुतावन्तो वायुं द्युम्ना जनासः ॥

tvaṣṭurjāmātaraṃ vayamīśānaṃ rāya īmahe | sutāvanto vāyuṃ dyumnā janāsaḥ ||

We, the offerers of Soma, solicit riches from the sovereign, the son- in-law of Tvaṣṭā; (may webecome) wealthy.

वायो याहि शिवा दिवो वहस्वा सु स्वश्व्यम् । वहस्व महः पृथुपक्षसा रथे ॥

vāyo yāhi śivā divo vahasvā su svaśvyam | vahasva mahaḥ pṛthupakṣasā rathe ||

Establish, Vāyu, happiness in heaven; bear quickly your well-horsed (chariot); do you, who are mighty,yoke the broad-flanked (horses) to the car.

त्वां हि सुप्सरस्तमं नृषदनेषु हूमहे । ग्रावाणं नाश्वपृष्ठं मंहना ॥

tvāṃ hi supsarastamaṃ nṛṣadaneṣu hūmahe | grāvāṇaṃ nāśvapṛṣṭhaṃ maṃhanā ||

We invoke you who are of graceful form, extending through your magnitude your limbs in all directions,to our religious rites, like the stone (for bruising the Soma).

स त्वं नो देव मनसा वायो मन्दानो अग्रियः । कृधि वाजाँ अपो धियः ॥

sa tvaṃ no deva manasā vāyo mandāno agriyaḥ | kṛdhi vājā~ apo dhiyaḥ ||

Divine Vāyu, foremost (of the gods), exulting in your won mind, cause our rites to be productive of foodand water.
