[rv-7-57] • 7 श्लोकाः

मध्वो वो नाम मारुतं यजत्राः प्र यज्ञेषु शवसा मदन्ति । ये रेजयन्ति रोदसी चिदुर्वी पिन्वन्त्युत्सं यदयासुरुग्राः ॥

madhvo vo nāma mārutaṃ yajatrāḥ pra yajñeṣu śavasā madanti | ye rejayanti rodasī cidurvī pinvantyutsaṃ yadayāsurugrāḥ ||

Adorable (Maruts), the worshippers vigorously celebrate at sacrifices your appellation of company ofthe Maruts, they who cause the spacious heaven and earth to tremble, the clouds to rain, the move everywhereterrible.

निचेतारो हि मरुतो गृणन्तं प्रणेतारो यजमानस्य मन्म । अस्माकमद्य विदथेषु बर्हिरा वीतये सदत पिप्रियाणाः ॥

nicetāro hi maruto gṛṇantaṃ praṇetāro yajamānasya manma | asmākamadya vidatheṣu barhirā vītaye sadata pipriyāṇāḥ ||

The Maruts verily are the benefactors of him who praises them, the gratifiers of the wishes of theinstitutor of the solemnity; do you, being plural ased, sit down today upon the grass at our ceremony, to partake (ofthe sacrificial food).

नैतावदन्ये मरुतो यथेमे भ्राजन्ते रुक्मैरायुधैस्तनूभिः । आ रोदसी विश्वपिशः पिशानाः समानमञ्ज्यञ्जते शुभे कम् ॥

naitāvadanye maruto yatheme bhrājante rukmairāyudhaistanūbhiḥ | ā rodasī viśvapiśaḥ piśānāḥ samānamañjyañjate śubhe kam ||

No other (deities give) such (good things) as the Maruts, as they shine with brilliant (ornaments),weapons and person ns; illumining heaven and earth, wide-radiating, they heighten their common lustre for (our)good.

ऋधक्सा वो मरुतो दिद्युदस्तु यद्व आगः पुरुषता कराम । मा वस्तस्यामपि भूमा यजत्रा अस्मे वो अस्तु सुमतिश्चनिष्ठा ॥

ṛdhaksā vo maruto didyudastu yadva āgaḥ puruṣatā karāma | mā vastasyāmapi bhūmā yajatrā asme vo astu sumatiścaniṣṭhā ||

May that blazing (weapon) of your, Maruts, be far from us, although, through human infirmities, we offeryou offence; let us not, adorable Maruts, be exposed to your (shaft); may your favour the source of abundance,ever be shown to us.

कृते चिदत्र मरुतो रणन्तानवद्यासः शुचयः पावकाः । प्र णोऽवत सुमतिभिर्यजत्राः प्र वाजेभिस्तिरत पुष्यसे नः ॥

kṛte cidatra maruto raṇantānavadyāsaḥ śucayaḥ pāvakāḥ | pra ṇo'vata sumatibhiryajatrāḥ pra vājebhistirata puṣyase naḥ ||

May the Maruts, who are irreproachable, pure, and purifying, delight in this our ceremony; protect us,adorable Maruts, with favourable thoughts; be ever anxious to sustain us with food.

उत स्तुतासो मरुतो व्यन्तु विश्वेभिर्नामभिर्नरो हवींषि । ददात नो अमृतस्य प्रजायै जिगृत रायः सूनृता मघानि ॥

uta stutāso maruto vyantu viśvebhirnāmabhirnaro havīṃṣi | dadāta no amṛtasya prajāyai jigṛta rāyaḥ sūnṛtā maghāni ||

May the glorified Maruts partake of the oblations, they who, accompanied by the bending waters, arethe leaders of rites; bestow water, Maruts, upon our progeny, return suitable opulence for (the donation ofsacrificial) riches.

आ स्तुतासो मरुतो विश्व ऊती अच्छा सूरीन्त्सर्वताता जिगात । ये नस्त्मना शतिनो वर्धयन्ति यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

ā stutāso maruto viśva ūtī acchā sūrīntsarvatātā jigāta | ye nastmanā śatino vardhayanti yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

Glorified Maruts, do you all come at the time of sacrifice to the presence of the worshippers along withyour protections, for you are they who, of your own will, multiply our hundreds; do you ever cherish us withblessings.
