[rv-7-32] • 27 श्लोकाः

मो षु त्वा वाघतश्चनारे अस्मन्नि रीरमन् । आरात्ताच्चित्सधमादं न आ गहीह वा सन्नुप श्रुधि ॥

mo ṣu tvā vāghataścanāre asmanni rīraman | ārāttāccitsadhamādaṃ na ā gahīha vā sannupa śrudhi ||

Let not, Indra, (other) worshippers detain you far from us; come from whatever distance to ourassembly; present at this ceremony, hear our (prayers).

इमे हि ते ब्रह्मकृतः सुते सचा मधौ न मक्ष आसते । इन्द्रे कामं जरितारो वसूयवो रथे न पादमा दधुः ॥

ime hi te brahmakṛtaḥ sute sacā madhau na makṣa āsate | indre kāmaṃ jaritāro vasūyavo rathe na pādamā dadhuḥ ||

When the libation is effused for you, these offerers of sacrifice swarm like flies around honey; the piouspraisers, desiring riches, fix their hope upon Indra, like a foot upon a chariot.

रायस्कामो वज्रहस्तं सुदक्षिणं पुत्रो न पितरं हुवे ॥

rāyaskāmo vajrahastaṃ sudakṣiṇaṃ putro na pitaraṃ huve ||

Desirous of riches, I call upon the benevolent wielder of the thunderbolt, as a son upon a father.

इम इन्द्राय सुन्विरे सोमासो दध्याशिरः । ताँ आ मदाय वज्रहस्त पीतये हरिभ्यां याह्योक आ ॥

ima indrāya sunvire somāso dadhyāśiraḥ | tā~ ā madāya vajrahasta pītaye haribhyāṃ yāhyoka ā ||

These Soma, mixed with curds, are poured out to Indra; come, wielder of the thunderbolt, with yourhorses of our dwelling, to drink there for (your) exhilaration.

श्रवच्छ्रुत्कर्ण ईयते वसूनां नू चिन्नो मर्धिषद्गिरः । सद्यश्चिद्यः सहस्राणि शता ददन्नकिर्दित्सन्तमा मिनत् ॥

śravacchrutkarṇa īyate vasūnāṃ nū cinno mardhiṣadgiraḥ | sadyaścidyaḥ sahasrāṇi śatā dadannakirditsantamā minat ||

May Indra, whose ear is ready to hear, listen to the suppliant for riches, and never disappoint ourprayers; he who is the giver of hundreds and thousands; may no one ever hinder him when willing to give.

स वीरो अप्रतिष्कुत इन्द्रेण शूशुवे नृभिः । यस्ते गभीरा सवनानि वृत्रहन्त्सुनोत्या च धावति ॥

sa vīro apratiṣkuta indreṇa śūśuve nṛbhiḥ | yaste gabhīrā savanāni vṛtrahantsunotyā ca dhāvati ||

Slayer of Vṛtra, the hero who offers sacrifices to you, who eagerly approaches you (with praises), he,(protected) by Indra, is unresisted (by anyone), and is honoured by men.

भवा वरूथं मघवन्मघोनां यत्समजासि शर्धतः । वि त्वाहतस्य वेदनं भजेमह्या दूणाशो भरा गयम् ॥

bhavā varūthaṃ maghavanmaghonāṃ yatsamajāsi śardhataḥ | vi tvāhatasya vedanaṃ bhajemahyā dūṇāśo bharā gayam ||

Be a defence, Maghavan, to the wealthy (offerers in oblations), for you are the discomfiter of (our)adversaries; may we divide the spoil of the enemy slain by you, who are indestructible, bring it to our dwelling.

सुनोता सोमपाव्ने सोममिन्द्राय वज्रिणे । पचता पक्तीरवसे कृणुध्वमित्पृणन्नित्पृणते मयः ॥

sunotā somapāvne somamindrāya vajriṇe | pacatā paktīravase kṛṇudhvamitpṛṇannitpṛṇate mayaḥ ||

Pour out the libation to Indra, the thunderer, the drinker of the Soma; prepare the baked (cakes) tosatisfy him; do (what is agreeable to him), for he bestows happiness on (the worshipper) who plural ases them.

मा स्रेधत सोमिनो दक्षता महे कृणुध्वं राय आतुजे । तरणिरिज्जयति क्षेति पुष्यति न देवासः कवत्नवे ॥

mā sredhata somino dakṣatā mahe kṛṇudhvaṃ rāya ātuje | taraṇirijjayati kṣeti puṣyati na devāsaḥ kavatnave ||

Offerers of the libation, do not hesitate; be active; sacrifice to the mighty benefactor for the sake ofriches; the assiduous worshipper conquers (his enemies), dwells in a habitation, and prospers; the gods favournot the imperfect rite.

नकिः सुदासो रथं पर्यास न रीरमत् । इन्द्रो यस्याविता यस्य मरुतो गमत्स गोमति व्रजे ॥

nakiḥ sudāso rathaṃ paryāsa na rīramat | indro yasyāvitā yasya maruto gamatsa gomati vraje ||

No one overturns, no one arrests the chariot of the liberal sacrificer; he, of whom Indra is the protector,of whom the Maruts (are the defenders), will walk in pastures filled with cattle.

गमद्वाजं वाजयन्निन्द्र मर्त्यो यस्य त्वमविता भुवः । अस्माकं बोध्यविता रथानामस्माकं शूर नृणाम् ॥

gamadvājaṃ vājayannindra martyo yasya tvamavitā bhuvaḥ | asmākaṃ bodhyavitā rathānāmasmākaṃ śūra nṛṇām ||

Let the man of whom you, Indra, are the protector, invigorating (you with praise), enjoy (abundant) food;be the preserver, hero, of our chariots, (the preserver) of our people.

उदिन्न्वस्य रिच्यतेंऽशो धनं न जिग्युषः । य इन्द्रो हरिवान्न दभन्ति तं रिपो दक्षं दधाति सोमिनि ॥

udinnvasya ricyateṃ'śo dhanaṃ na jigyuṣaḥ | ya indro harivānna dabhanti taṃ ripo dakṣaṃ dadhāti somini ||

Verily (Indra's) share (of the Soma) exceeds (that of other deities) like the wealth of the victorious;enemies overcome not him, who is the lord of bay steeds, who gives strength to the offerer of the libation.

मन्त्रमखर्वं सुधितं सुपेशसं दधात यज्ञियेष्वा । पूर्वीश्चन प्रसितयस्तरन्ति तं य इन्द्रे कर्मणा भुवत् ॥

mantramakharvaṃ sudhitaṃ supeśasaṃ dadhāta yajñiyeṣvā | pūrvīścana prasitayastaranti taṃ ya indre karmaṇā bhuvat ||

Address (to Indra), among the gods, the ample, well-uttered, and graceful prayer; many bonds entanglenot him who, by his devotion, abides in Indra.

कस्तमिन्द्र त्वावसुमा मर्त्यो दधर्षति । श्रद्धा इत्ते मघवन्पार्ये दिवि वाजी वाजं सिषासति ॥

kastamindra tvāvasumā martyo dadharṣati | śraddhā itte maghavanpārye divi vājī vājaṃ siṣāsati ||

What mortal, Indra, injures him who has you for his support? He who offers you (sacrificial) food,Maghavan, with faith, he obtains food on the day of the libation.

मघोनः स्म वृत्रहत्येषु चोदय ये ददति प्रिया वसु । तव प्रणीती हर्यश्व सूरिभिर्विश्वा तरेम दुरिता ॥

maghonaḥ sma vṛtrahatyeṣu codaya ye dadati priyā vasu | tava praṇītī haryaśva sūribhirviśvā tarema duritā ||

Animate (those men) for the destruction of their foes, who offer treasures which are dear to you, theabounder in wealth; may we, lord of bay steeds, along with (your) worshippers, pass over all difficulties by yourguidance.

तवेदिन्द्रावमं वसु त्वं पुष्यसि मध्यमम् । सत्रा विश्वस्य परमस्य राजसि नकिष्ट्वा गोषु वृण्वते ॥

tavedindrāvamaṃ vasu tvaṃ puṣyasi madhyamam | satrā viśvasya paramasya rājasi nakiṣṭvā goṣu vṛṇvate ||

Yours, Indra, is the vast valuable wealth; you cherish the middling; you rule over all that which is themost precious; no one opposes you in (the recovering of the) cattle.

त्वं विश्वस्य धनदा असि श्रुतो य ईं भवन्त्याजयः । तवायं विश्वः पुरुहूत पार्थिवोऽवस्युर्नाम भिक्षते ॥

tvaṃ viśvasya dhanadā asi śruto ya īṃ bhavantyājayaḥ | tavāyaṃ viśvaḥ puruhūta pārthivo'vasyurnāma bhikṣate ||

You are celebrated as the giver of wealth to all even where battles occur; all the people of theearth--desirous of protection, solicit you, the invoked of many.

यदिन्द्र यावतस्त्वमेतावदहमीशीय । स्तोतारमिद्दिधिषेय रदावसो न पापत्वाय रासीय ॥

yadindra yāvatastvametāvadahamīśīya | stotāramiddidhiṣeya radāvaso na pāpatvāya rāsīya ||

If I were lord of as much (affluence) as you are, Indra, then might I support (your) worshippers,dispenser of wealth, and not squander it upon wickedness.

शिक्षेयमिन्महयते दिवेदिवे राय आ कुहचिद्विदे । नहि त्वदन्यन्मघवन्न आप्यं वस्यो अस्ति पिता चन ॥

śikṣeyaminmahayate divedive rāya ā kuhacidvide | nahi tvadanyanmaghavanna āpyaṃ vasyo asti pitā cana ||

May I daily distribute wealth to the venerable wherever abiding; no other, Maghavan, than you is to besought by us; (no other is to us) a most excellent protector.

तरणिरित्सिषासति वाजं पुरंध्या युजा । आ व इन्द्रं पुरुहूतं नमे गिरा नेमिं तष्टेव सुद्र्वम् ॥

taraṇiritsiṣāsati vājaṃ puraṃdhyā yujā | ā va indraṃ puruhūtaṃ name girā nemiṃ taṣṭeva sudrvam ||

The prompt offers (of praise), with solemn rites combined, acquires food; I bend down with adoration toyou, Indra, the invoker of many, as a carpenter bends the wooden circumference of the wheel.

न दुःष्टुती मर्त्यो विन्दते वसु न स्रेधन्तं रयिर्नशत् । सुशक्तिरिन्मघवन्तुभ्यं मावते देष्णं यत्पार्ये दिवि ॥

na duḥṣṭutī martyo vindate vasu na sredhantaṃ rayirnaśat | suśaktirinmaghavantubhyaṃ māvate deṣṇaṃ yatpārye divi ||

A man acquires not wealth by unbecoming praise; affluence devolves not upon one obstructing(sacrifice) in you, Maghavan, is the power whereby bounty (may be shown) to such as I am on the day of libation.

अभि त्वा शूर नोनुमोऽदुग्धा इव धेनवः । ईशानमस्य जगतः स्वर्दृशमीशानमिन्द्र तस्थुषः ॥

abhi tvā śūra nonumo'dugdhā iva dhenavaḥ | īśānamasya jagataḥ svardṛśamīśānamindra tasthuṣaḥ ||

We glorify you, hero, (Indra), the lord of all movable and stationary things, the beholder of the universe,with ladles filled (with Soma, like (the udders of) unmilked kine.

न त्वावाँ अन्यो दिव्यो न पार्थिवो न जातो न जनिष्यते । अश्वायन्तो मघवन्निन्द्र वाजिनो गव्यन्तस्त्वा हवामहे ॥

na tvāvā~ anyo divyo na pārthivo na jāto na janiṣyate | aśvāyanto maghavannindra vājino gavyantastvā havāmahe ||

No other such as you are, celestial or terrestrial, has been or will be born; desirous of horses, of food,of cattle affluent Indra, we invoke you.

अभी षतस्तदा भरेन्द्र ज्यायः कनीयसः । पुरूवसुर्हि मघवन्त्सनादसि भरेभरे च हव्यः ॥

abhī ṣatastadā bharendra jyāyaḥ kanīyasaḥ | purūvasurhi maghavantsanādasi bharebhare ca havyaḥ ||

Elder Indra, bring that (wealth to me), being the junior, for, Maghavan, you have from the beginningbeen possessed of infinite treasure, and are to be adored at repeated sacrifices.

परा णुदस्व मघवन्नमित्रान्त्सुवेदा नो वसू कृधि । अस्माकं बोध्यविता महाधने भवा वृधः सखीनाम् ॥

parā ṇudasva maghavannamitrāntsuvedā no vasū kṛdhi | asmākaṃ bodhyavitā mahādhane bhavā vṛdhaḥ sakhīnām ||

Drive away, Maghavan, our enemies; render riches easy of acquisition; be our preserver in war; be theaugmenter of (the prosperity) of (your) friends.

इन्द्र क्रतुं न आ भर पिता पुत्रेभ्यो यथा । शिक्षा णो अस्मिन्पुरुहूत यामनि जीवा ज्योतिरशीमहि ॥

indra kratuṃ na ā bhara pitā putrebhyo yathā | śikṣā ṇo asminpuruhūta yāmani jīvā jyotiraśīmahi ||

Bring to us, Indra, wisdom, as a father (gives knowledge) to his sons; bestow wealth upon us on thisoccasion, you the invoked of many, so that we, living at the solemnity may (long) enjoy the light (of existence).

मा नो अज्ञाता वृजना दुराध्यो माशिवासो अव क्रमुः । त्वया वयं प्रवतः शश्वतीरपोऽति शूर तरामसि ॥

mā no ajñātā vṛjanā durādhyo māśivāso ava kramuḥ | tvayā vayaṃ pravataḥ śaśvatīrapo'ti śūra tarāmasi ||

Let no unknown, wicked, malevolent, malignant (enemies) overpower us; may we, protected by you,cross over many waters.
