[rv-7-15] • 15 श्लोकाः

उपसद्याय मीऴ्हुष आस्ये जुहुता हविः । यो नो नेदिष्ठमाप्यम् ॥

upasadyāya mīḻhuṣa āsye juhutā haviḥ | yo no nediṣṭhamāpyam ||

Offer the oblation to the present Agni, the showerer (of benefits); pour into the mouth of him who(bears) to us the nearest relationship.

यः पञ्च चर्षणीरभि निषसाद दमेदमे । कविर्गृहपतिर्युवा ॥

yaḥ pañca carṣaṇīrabhi niṣasāda damedame | kavirgṛhapatiryuvā ||

Who, juvenile, wise, the lord of the dwelling, abides with the five classes of men in every dwelling.

स नो वेदो अमात्यमग्नी रक्षतु विश्वतः । उतास्मान्पात्वंहसः ॥

sa no vedo amātyamagnī rakṣatu viśvataḥ | utāsmānpātvaṃhasaḥ ||

May he defend for us the wealth that has been acquired, and preserve us from iniquity.

नवं नु स्तोममग्नये दिवः श्येनाय जीजनम् । वस्वः कुविद्वनाति नः ॥

navaṃ nu stomamagnaye divaḥ śyenāya jījanam | vasvaḥ kuvidvanāti naḥ ||

May Agni, to whom as to a (swift) hawk in heaven, I address this new hymn, bestow upon us amplewealth.

स्पार्हा यस्य श्रियो दृशे रयिर्वीरवतो यथा । अग्रे यज्ञस्य शोचतः ॥

spārhā yasya śriyo dṛśe rayirvīravato yathā | agre yajñasya śocataḥ ||

Of whom, blazing in the front of the sacrifice, the enviable honours are to be seen, like the riches of aman having male offspring.

सेमां वेतु वषट्कृतिमग्निर्जुषत नो गिरः । यजिष्ठो हव्यवाहनः ॥

semāṃ vetu vaṣaṭkṛtimagnirjuṣata no giraḥ | yajiṣṭho havyavāhanaḥ ||

May that most adorable Agni, the bearer of oblations, accept our offering, gratified by our praises.

नि त्वा नक्ष्य विश्पते द्युमन्तं देव धीमहि । सुवीरमग्न आहुत ॥

ni tvā nakṣya viśpate dyumantaṃ deva dhīmahi | suvīramagna āhuta ||

Divine Agni, the approachable; the lord of men, the invoked of all, we set you down (upon the altar), theresplendent, the righteously glorified.

क्षप उस्रश्च दीदिहि स्वग्नयस्त्वया वयम् । सुवीरस्त्वमस्मयुः ॥

kṣapa usraśca dīdihi svagnayastvayā vayam | suvīrastvamasmayuḥ ||

Blaze, Agni, night and day, that by you we may be possessed of sacred fires; may you, friendly to us,be righteously praised.

उप त्वा सातये नरो विप्रासो यन्ति धीतिभिः । उपाक्षरा सहस्रिणी ॥

upa tvā sātaye naro viprāso yanti dhītibhiḥ | upākṣarā sahasriṇī ||

Wise men approach with sacred rites for the acquisition of riches; perpetual, infinite (praise isaddressed to you);

अग्नी रक्षांसि सेधति शुक्रशोचिरमर्त्यः । शुचिः पावक ईड्यः ॥

agnī rakṣāṃsi sedhati śukraśociramartyaḥ | śuciḥ pāvaka īḍyaḥ ||

May the bright, radiant, immortal, pure, purifying, adorable Agni, keep off the rākṣasas].

स नो राधांस्या भरेशानः सहसो यहो । भगश्च दातु वार्यम् ॥

sa no rādhāṃsyā bhareśānaḥ sahaso yaho | bhagaśca dātu vāryam ||

Son of strength, who are the lord (of all), bestow riches upon us; and may Bhaga give us wealth.

त्वमग्ने वीरवद्यशो देवश्च सविता भगः । दितिश्च दाति वार्यम् ॥

tvamagne vīravadyaśo devaśca savitā bhagaḥ | ditiśca dāti vāryam ||

Do you, Agni, give us food along with male issue, and may the divine Savitā, Bhaga and Diti, give uswealth.

अग्ने रक्षा णो अंहसः प्रति ष्म देव रीषतः । तपिष्ठैरजरो दह ॥

agne rakṣā ṇo aṃhasaḥ prati ṣma deva rīṣataḥ | tapiṣṭhairajaro daha ||

Preserve us, Agni, from sin; divine (Agni), who are exempt from decay, consume (our) foes with (your)hottest flames.

अधा मही न आयस्यनाधृष्टो नृपीतये । पूर्भवा शतभुजिः ॥

adhā mahī na āyasyanādhṛṣṭo nṛpītaye | pūrbhavā śatabhujiḥ ||

Do you, who are irresistibel, be to us, for the protection of our posterity, like the vast spacious,metal-walled cities (of the rākṣasas).

त्वं नः पाह्यंहसो दोषावस्तरघायतः । दिवा नक्तमदाभ्य ॥

tvaṃ naḥ pāhyaṃhaso doṣāvastaraghāyataḥ | divā naktamadābhya ||

Uninjurable Agni, dispeller of darkness, preserve us night and day from sin, and from the malevolent.
