[rv-7-101] • 6 श्लोकाः

तिस्रो वाचः प्र वद ज्योतिरग्रा या एतद्दुह्रे मधुदोघमूधः । स वत्सं कृण्वन्गर्भमोषधीनां सद्यो जातो वृषभो रोरवीति ॥

tisro vācaḥ pra vada jyotiragrā yā etadduhre madhudoghamūdhaḥ | sa vatsaṃ kṛṇvangarbhamoṣadhīnāṃ sadyo jāto vṛṣabho roravīti ||

Recite the three sacred texts, preceded by light, which milk the water- yielding udder; for he, theshowerer, (thereby) becoming quickly manifest, loudly roars, engendering the (lightning) infant, the embryo of theplants.

यो वर्धन ओषधीनां यो अपां यो विश्वस्य जगतो देव ईशे । स त्रिधातु शरणं शर्म यंसत्त्रिवर्तु ज्योतिः स्वभिष्ट्यस्मे ॥

yo vardhana oṣadhīnāṃ yo apāṃ yo viśvasya jagato deva īśe | sa tridhātu śaraṇaṃ śarma yaṃsattrivartu jyotiḥ svabhiṣṭyasme ||

May he who is the augmenter of plural nts, the increase of the waters, who rules divine over the wholeearth, bestow upon us a three-storied dwelling and felicity; may he grant us the desired light (of the sun) at thethree (bright) seasons.

स्तरीरु त्वद्भवति सूत उ त्वद्यथावशं तन्वं चक्र एषः । पितुः पयः प्रति गृभ्णाति माता तेन पिता वर्धते तेन पुत्रः ॥

starīru tvadbhavati sūta u tvadyathāvaśaṃ tanvaṃ cakra eṣaḥ | pituḥ payaḥ prati gṛbhṇāti mātā tena pitā vardhate tena putraḥ ||

One form of Parjanya is like a barren cow the other produces offspring, he takes whichever form hepleases; the mother receives the milk from the father thence the father, thence the son is nourished.

यस्मिन्विश्वानि भुवनानि तस्थुस्तिस्रो द्यावस्त्रेधा सस्रुरापः । त्रयः कोशास उपसेचनासो मध्वः श्चोतन्त्यभितो विरप्शम् ॥

yasminviśvāni bhuvanāni tasthustisro dyāvastredhā sasrurāpaḥ | trayaḥ kośāsa upasecanāso madhvaḥ ścotantyabhito virapśam ||

In whom all beings exist; the three worlds abide; from whom the waters flow in three directions (east,west, and south); the three water-shedding masses of clouds (east, west, and north) pour the waters round themighty (Parjanya).

इदं वचः पर्जन्याय स्वराजे हृदो अस्त्वन्तरं तज्जुजोषत् । मयोभुवो वृष्टयः सन्त्वस्मे सुपिप्पला ओषधीर्देवगोपाः ॥

idaṃ vacaḥ parjanyāya svarāje hṛdo astvantaraṃ tajjujoṣat | mayobhuvo vṛṣṭayaḥ santvasme supippalā oṣadhīrdevagopāḥ ||

This praise is addressed to the self-irradiating Parjanya; may it be plural ced in his heart; may he begratified by it; may the joy-diffusing rains be ours; may the plural nts cherished by the deiy be fruitful.

स रेतोधा वृषभः शश्वतीनां तस्मिन्नात्मा जगतस्तस्थुषश्च । तन्म ऋतं पातु शतशारदाय यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

sa retodhā vṛṣabhaḥ śaśvatīnāṃ tasminnātmā jagatastasthuṣaśca | tanma ṛtaṃ pātu śataśāradāya yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

May he, the bull, be the impregnator of the perpetual plural ns, for in him is the vitality of both the fixed andmoveable (world); may the rain sent by him preserve me for a hundred years; and do you (gods) ever cherish uswith blessings.
