[rv-6-60] • 15 श्लोकाः

श्नथद्वृत्रमुत सनोति वाजमिन्द्रा यो अग्नी सहुरी सपर्यात् । इरज्यन्ता वसव्यस्य भूरेः सहस्तमा सहसा वाजयन्ता ॥

śnathadvṛtramuta sanoti vājamindrā yo agnī sahurī saparyāt | irajyantā vasavyasya bhūreḥ sahastamā sahasā vājayantā ||

He ovecomes his enemy, and acquires food, who worships the victorious Indra and Agni, the lords of infinite opulence, most powerful in strength, desirous of (sacrificial) food.

ता योधिष्टमभि गा इन्द्र नूनमपः स्वरुषसो अग्न ऊऴ्हाः । दिशः स्वरुषस इन्द्र चित्रा अपो गा अग्ने युवसे नियुत्वान् ॥

tā yodhiṣṭamabhi gā indra nūnamapaḥ svaruṣaso agna ūḻhāḥ | diśaḥ svaruṣasa indra citrā apo gā agne yuvase niyutvān ||

Indra and Agni, verily you have combated for (the recovery of) the cows, the waters, the sun, the dawns that had been carried away (by the asuras); you reunite, Indra (with the world), the quarters of the horizon, the sun, the wonderful waters, the dawns, the cattle and so do you, Agni, who have the Niyut steeds.

आ वृत्रहणा वृत्रहभिः शुष्मैरिन्द्र यातं नमोभिरग्ने अर्वाक् । युवं राधोभिरकवेभिरिन्द्राग्ने अस्मे भवतमुत्तमेभिः ॥

ā vṛtrahaṇā vṛtrahabhiḥ śuṣmairindra yātaṃ namobhiragne arvāk | yuvaṃ rādhobhirakavebhirindrāgne asme bhavatamuttamebhiḥ ||

Slayers of Vṛtra, Indra and Agni, come down with foe-subduing energies, (to be invigorated) by (our) offerings; be manifest to us, Indra and Agni, with unblameable and most excellent riches.

ता हुवे ययोरिदं पप्ने विश्वं पुरा कृतम् । इन्द्राग्नी न मर्धतः ॥

tā huve yayoridaṃ papne viśvaṃ purā kṛtam | indrāgnī na mardhataḥ ||

I invoke those two, the whole of whose deeds of old have been celebrated; Indra and Agni harm us not.

उग्रा विघनिना मृध इन्द्राग्नी हवामहे । ता नो मृऴात ईदृशे ॥

ugrā vighaninā mṛdha indrāgnī havāmahe | tā no mṛḻāta īdṛśe ||

We invoke the fierce Indra and Agni, the slayers of enemies; may they give us success in similar warfare.

हतो वृत्राण्यार्या हतो दासानि सत्पती । हतो विश्वा अप द्विषः ॥

hato vṛtrāṇyāryā hato dāsāni satpatī | hato viśvā apa dviṣaḥ ||

Counteract all oppressions (committed) by the pious; counteract all oppressions (committed) by the impious; protectors of the virtuous, destroy all those who hate us.

इन्द्राग्नी युवामिमेऽभि स्तोमा अनूषत । पिबतं शम्भुवा सुतम् ॥

indrāgnī yuvāmime'bhi stomā anūṣata | pibataṃ śambhuvā sutam ||

Indra and Agni, these hymns glorify you both; drink, bestowers of happiness, the libation.

या वां सन्ति पुरुस्पृहो नियुतो दाशुषे नरा । इन्द्राग्नी ताभिरा गतम् ॥

yā vāṃ santi puruspṛho niyuto dāśuṣe narā | indrāgnī tābhirā gatam ||

Indra and Agni, leaders (of rites), whose Niyut steeds are desired by many, come with them to the donor (of the libation).

ताभिरा गच्छतं नरोपेदं सवनं सुतम् । इन्द्राग्नी सोमपीतये ॥

tābhirā gacchataṃ naropedaṃ savanaṃ sutam | indrāgnī somapītaye ||

Come with them, leaders (of rites),

तमीऴिष्व यो अर्चिषा वना विश्वा परिष्वजत् । कृष्णा कृणोति जिह्वया ॥

tamīḻiṣva yo arciṣā vanā viśvā pariṣvajat | kṛṣṇā kṛṇoti jihvayā ||

Glorify that Agni who envelopes all the forest with flame, who blackens them with (his) tongue.

य इद्ध आविवासति सुम्नमिन्द्रस्य मर्त्यः । द्युम्नाय सुतरा अपः ॥

ya iddha āvivāsati sumnamindrasya martyaḥ | dyumnāya sutarā apaḥ ||

The mortal who presents the gratifying (oblation) to Indra in the kindled (fire), to him (Indra grants) acceptable waters for his sustenance.

ता नो वाजवतीरिष आशून्पिपृतमर्वतः । इन्द्रमग्निं च वोऴ्हवे ॥

tā no vājavatīriṣa āśūnpipṛtamarvataḥ | indramagniṃ ca voḻhave ||

May those two grant us strengthening food, and swift horses to convey (our offerings).

उभा वामिन्द्राग्नी आहुवध्या उभा राधसः सह मादयध्यै । उभा दाताराविषां रयीणामुभा वाजस्य सातये हुवे वाम् ॥

ubhā vāmindrāgnī āhuvadhyā ubhā rādhasaḥ saha mādayadhyai | ubhā dātārāviṣāṃ rayīṇāmubhā vājasya sātaye huve vām ||

I invoke you both, Indra and Agni, to be present at the sacrifice; and both together to be exhilarated by the (sacrificial) food; for you are both donors of food and riches, and therefore I invoke you both for the obtaining of sustenance.

आ नो गव्येभिरश्व्यैर्वसव्यैरुप गच्छतम् । सखायौ देवौ सख्याय शम्भुवेन्द्राग्नी ता हवामहे ॥

ā no gavyebhiraśvyairvasavyairupa gacchatam | sakhāyau devau sakhyāya śambhuvendrāgnī tā havāmahe ||

Come to us with herds of cattle, with troops of horses, with ample treasures, divine friends, Indra and Agni; givers of happiness, we invoke you as such for your friendship.

इन्द्राग्नी शृणुतं हवं यजमानस्य सुन्वतः । वीतं हव्यान्या गतं पिबतं सोम्यं मधु ॥

indrāgnī śṛṇutaṃ havaṃ yajamānasya sunvataḥ | vītaṃ havyānyā gataṃ pibataṃ somyaṃ madhu ||

Hear, Indra and Agni, the instrumental tutor of the rite as he offers the libation; partake of the offering; come, quaff the sweet Soma.
