[rv-6-61] • 14 श्लोकाः

इयमददाद्रभसमृणच्युतं दिवोदासं वध्र्यश्वाय दाशुषे । या शश्वन्तमाचखादावसं पणिं ता ते दात्राणि तविषा सरस्वति ॥

iyamadadādrabhasamṛṇacyutaṃ divodāsaṃ vadhryaśvāya dāśuṣe | yā śaśvantamācakhādāvasaṃ paṇiṃ tā te dātrāṇi taviṣā sarasvati ||

She gave to the donor of the oblations, Vadhryaśva, a son Divodāsa endowed with speed, and acquitting the debt (due to gods and progenitors), she who destroyed the churlis niggard, (thinking) only of himself, such are your bounties, Sarasvatī.

इयं शुष्मेभिर्बिसखा इवारुजत्सानु गिरीणां तविषेभिरूर्मिभिः । पारावतघ्नीमवसे सुवृक्तिभिः सरस्वतीमा विवासेम धीतिभिः ॥

iyaṃ śuṣmebhirbisakhā ivārujatsānu girīṇāṃ taviṣebhirūrmibhiḥ | pārāvataghnīmavase suvṛktibhiḥ sarasvatīmā vivāsema dhītibhiḥ ||

With impetuous and mighty waves she breaks down the precipices of the mountains, like a digger for the lotus fibres; we adore for our protection, the praises and with sacred rites, Sarasvatī the underminer of both her banks.

सरस्वति देवनिदो नि बर्हय प्रजां विश्वस्य बृसयस्य मायिनः । उत क्षितिभ्योऽवनीरविन्दो विषमेभ्यो अस्रवो वाजिनीवति ॥

sarasvati devanido ni barhaya prajāṃ viśvasya bṛsayasya māyinaḥ | uta kṣitibhyo'vanīravindo viṣamebhyo asravo vājinīvati ||

Destroy, Sarasvatī, the revilers of the gods, the offspring of the universal deluder, Bṛsaya; giver of sustenance, you have acquired for men the lands (seized by the asuras), and have showered water upon them.

प्र णो देवी सरस्वती वाजेभिर्वाजिनीवती । धीनामवित्र्यवतु ॥

pra ṇo devī sarasvatī vājebhirvājinīvatī | dhīnāmavitryavatu ||

May the divine Sarasvatī, the acceptress of (sacrificial) food, the protectress o her worshippers, sustain us with (abundant) viands.

यस्त्वा देवि सरस्वत्युपब्रूते धने हिते । इन्द्रं न वृत्रतूर्ये ॥

yastvā devi sarasvatyupabrūte dhane hite | indraṃ na vṛtratūrye ||

Divine Sarasvatī, protect him engaged in conflict for the sake of wealth, who glorifies you like Indra.

त्वं देवि सरस्वत्यवा वाजेषु वाजिनि । रदा पूषेव नः सनिम् ॥

tvaṃ devi sarasvatyavā vājeṣu vājini | radā pūṣeva naḥ sanim ||

Divine Sarasvatī, abounding in food, protect us in combat, and, like Pūṣan, give us gifts.

उत स्या नः सरस्वती घोरा हिरण्यवर्तनिः । वृत्रघ्नी वष्टि सुष्टुतिम् ॥

uta syā naḥ sarasvatī ghorā hiraṇyavartaniḥ | vṛtraghnī vaṣṭi suṣṭutim ||

May the fierce Sarasvatī, riding in a golden chariot, the destructress of enemies, be plural ased by our earnest laudation.

यस्या अनन्तो अह्रुतस्त्वेषश्चरिष्णुरर्णवः । अमश्चरति रोरुवत् ॥

yasyā ananto ahrutastveṣaścariṣṇurarṇavaḥ | amaścarati roruvat ||

May she whose might, infinite, undeviating, splendid, progressive, water-shedding, proceeds loud-sounding.

सा नो विश्वा अति द्विषः स्वसॄरन्या ऋतावरी । अतन्नहेव सूर्यः ॥

sā no viśvā ati dviṣaḥ svasṝranyā ṛtāvarī | atannaheva sūryaḥ ||

Overcome all our adversaries, and bring to us her other water-laden sisters, as the ever-rolling sun (leads on) the days.

उत नः प्रिया प्रियासु सप्तस्वसा सुजुष्टा । सरस्वती स्तोम्या भूत् ॥

uta naḥ priyā priyāsu saptasvasā sujuṣṭā | sarasvatī stomyā bhūt ||

May Sarasvatī, who has seven sisters, who is dearest among those dear to us, and is fully propitiated, be ever adorable.

आपप्रुषी पार्थिवान्युरु रजो अन्तरिक्षम् । सरस्वती निदस्पातु ॥

āpapruṣī pārthivānyuru rajo antarikṣam | sarasvatī nidaspātu ||

May Sarasvatī, filing (with radiance) the expanse of earth and heaven, defend us from the reviled.

त्रिषधस्था सप्तधातुः पञ्च जाता वर्धयन्ती । वाजेवाजे हव्या भूत् ॥

triṣadhasthā saptadhātuḥ pañca jātā vardhayantī | vājevāje havyā bhūt ||

Abiding in the three worlds, comprising seven elements, cherishing the five races (of beings), she is ever to be invoked in battle.

प्र या महिम्ना महिनासु चेकिते द्युम्नेभिरन्या अपसामपस्तमा । रथ इव बृहती विभ्वने कृतोपस्तुत्या चिकितुषा सरस्वती ॥

pra yā mahimnā mahināsu cekite dyumnebhiranyā apasāmapastamā | ratha iva bṛhatī vibhvane kṛtopastutyā cikituṣā sarasvatī ||

She who is disinguished among them as eminent in greatness and in her glories; she who is the most impetuous of all other streams; she who as been created vast in capacity as a chariot, she, Sarasvatī, is to be glorified by the discree (worshippers)

सरस्वत्यभि नो नेषि वस्यो माप स्फरीः पयसा मा न आ धक् । जुषस्व नः सख्या वेश्या च मा त्वत्क्षेत्राण्यरणानि गन्म ॥

sarasvatyabhi no neṣi vasyo māpa spharīḥ payasā mā na ā dhak | juṣasva naḥ sakhyā veśyā ca mā tvatkṣetrāṇyaraṇāni ganma ||

Guide us, Sarasvatī, to precious wealth; reduce us no to insignificance; overwhelm us not with (excess of) water; be plural ased by our friendly (services) and access to our habitations, and let us not repair to plural ces unacceptable to you.
