[rv-6-59] • 10 श्लोकाः

प्र नु वोचा सुतेषु वां वीर्या यानि चक्रथुः । हतासो वां पितरो देवशत्रव इन्द्राग्नी जीवथो युवम् ॥

pra nu vocā suteṣu vāṃ vīryā yāni cakrathuḥ | hatāso vāṃ pitaro devaśatrava indrāgnī jīvatho yuvam ||

When the libation is effused I celebrate, Indra and Agni, your heroic exploits; the Pitaras, the enemies of the gods, have been slain by you, and you survive.

बऴित्था महिमा वामिन्द्राग्नी पनिष्ठ आ । समानो वां जनिता भ्रातरा युवं यमाविहेहमातरा ॥

baḻitthā mahimā vāmindrāgnī paniṣṭha ā | samāno vāṃ janitā bhrātarā yuvaṃ yamāvihehamātarā ||

Your greatness, Indra and Agni, is after this fashion, and is most deserving of praise; the same is your progenitor; twin brethren are you, having a mother everywhere present.

ओकिवांसा सुते सचाँ अश्वा सप्ती इवादने । इन्द्रा न्वग्नी अवसेह वज्रिणा वयं देवा हवामहे ॥

okivāṃsā sute sacā~ aśvā saptī ivādane | indrā nvagnī avaseha vajriṇā vayaṃ devā havāmahe ||

You approach together, when the libation is effused, like two fleet coursers to their forage; we invoke today Indra and Agni, deities armed with the thunderbolt, to this ceremony for our preservation.

य इन्द्राग्नी सुतेषु वां स्तवत्तेष्वृतावृधा । जोषवाकं वदतः पज्रहोषिणा न देवा भसथश्चन ॥

ya indrāgnī suteṣu vāṃ stavatteṣvṛtāvṛdhā | joṣavākaṃ vadataḥ pajrahoṣiṇā na devā bhasathaścana ||

Divine Indra and Agni, augmenters of sacrifice by whom the acclamation (of praise) is received, you partake not of the (Soma) of him who, when the libation is effused, praises you (improperly), uttering unacceptable eulogies.

इन्द्राग्नी को अस्य वां देवौ मर्तश्चिकेतति । विषूचो अश्वान्युयुजान ईयत एकः समान आ रथे ॥

indrāgnī ko asya vāṃ devau martaściketati | viṣūco aśvānyuyujāna īyata ekaḥ samāna ā rathe ||

What mortal, divine Indra and Agni, is a judge of that (your act), when one of you, harnessing his diversely-going horses, proceeds in the common car.

इन्द्राग्नी अपादियं पूर्वागात्पद्वतीभ्यः । हित्वी शिरो जिह्वया वावदच्चरत्त्रिंशत्पदा न्यक्रमीत् ॥

indrāgnī apādiyaṃ pūrvāgātpadvatībhyaḥ | hitvī śiro jihvayā vāvadaccarattriṃśatpadā nyakramīt ||

This footless (dawn), Indra and Agni, comes before the footed sleepers, animating the head (of living beings with consciousness), causing them to utter loud sounds with their tongues, and passing onwards she traverses thirty steps.

इन्द्राग्नी आ हि तन्वते नरो धन्वानि बाह्वोः । मा नो अस्मिन्महाधने परा वर्क्तं गविष्टिषु ॥

indrāgnī ā hi tanvate naro dhanvāni bāhvoḥ | mā no asminmahādhane parā varktaṃ gaviṣṭiṣu ||

Indra and Agni, men verily stretch their bows with their arms, but do not you desert us contending for cattle in the great combat.

इन्द्राग्नी तपन्ति माघा अर्यो अरातयः । अप द्वेषांस्या कृतं युयुतं सूर्यादधि ॥

indrāgnī tapanti māghā aryo arātayaḥ | apa dveṣāṃsyā kṛtaṃ yuyutaṃ sūryādadhi ||

Indra and Agni, murderous, aggressive enemies harasss us; drive away mine adversaries; separate them from (sight of) the sun.

इन्द्राग्नी युवोरपि वसु दिव्यानि पार्थिवा । आ न इह प्र यच्छतं रयिं विश्वायुपोषसम् ॥

indrāgnī yuvorapi vasu divyāni pārthivā | ā na iha pra yacchataṃ rayiṃ viśvāyupoṣasam ||

Indra and Agni, yours are both celestial and terrestrial treasures; bestow upon us, on this occasion, life-sustaining riches.

इन्द्राग्नी उक्थवाहसा स्तोमेभिर्हवनश्रुता । विश्वाभिर्गीर्भिरा गतमस्य सोमस्य पीतये ॥

indrāgnī ukthavāhasā stomebhirhavanaśrutā | viśvābhirgīrbhirā gatamasya somasya pītaye ||

Indra and Agni, who are to be attracted by hymns; you, who hear our invocation (accompanied) by praise and by all adorations, come hither to drink of this Soma libation.
