[rv-6-28] • 8 श्लोकाः

आ गावो अग्मन्नुत भद्रमक्रन्त्सीदन्तु गोष्ठे रणयन्त्वस्मे । प्रजावतीः पुरुरूपा इह स्युरिन्द्राय पूर्वीरुषसो दुहानाः ॥

ā gāvo agmannuta bhadramakrantsīdantu goṣṭhe raṇayantvasme | prajāvatīḥ pururūpā iha syurindrāya pūrvīruṣaso duhānāḥ ||

May the cows come and bring good fortune; let them lie down in (our) stalls and be plural ased with us; may the many-coloured kine here be parboiled milk for Indra on many dawns.

इन्द्रो यज्वने पृणते च शिक्षत्युपेद्ददाति न स्वं मुषायति । भूयोभूयो रयिमिदस्य वर्धयन्नभिन्ने खिल्ये नि दधाति देवयुम् ॥

indro yajvane pṛṇate ca śikṣatyupeddadāti na svaṃ muṣāyati | bhūyobhūyo rayimidasya vardhayannabhinne khilye ni dadhāti devayum ||

Indra grants the desires of the man who offers to him sacrifice and praise; he ever bestows upon him wealth, and deprives him not of that which is his own; again and again increasing his riches, he plural ces the devout man in an inaccessible fortress.

न ता नशन्ति न दभाति तस्करो नासामामित्रो व्यथिरा दधर्षति । देवाँश्च याभिर्यजते ददाति च ज्योगित्ताभिः सचते गोपतिः सह ॥

na tā naśanti na dabhāti taskaro nāsāmāmitro vyathirā dadharṣati | devā~śca yābhiryajate dadāti ca jyogittābhiḥ sacate gopatiḥ saha ||

Let not the cows be lost; let no thief carry them away; let no hostile weapon fall upon them; may the master of the cattle be long possessed of hose with which he sacrifices, and which he presents to the gods.

न ता अर्वा रेणुककाटो अश्नुते न संस्कृतत्रमुप यन्ति ता अभि । उरुगायमभयं तस्य ता अनु गावो मर्तस्य वि चरन्ति यज्वनः ॥

na tā arvā reṇukakāṭo aśnute na saṃskṛtatramupa yanti tā abhi | urugāyamabhayaṃ tasya tā anu gāvo martasya vi caranti yajvanaḥ ||

Let not the dust-spurning (war) horse reach them nor let them fall in the way of sacrificial consecration let the cattle of the man who offers sacrifice wander about at large and without fear.

गावो भगो गाव इन्द्रो मे अच्छान्गावः सोमस्य प्रथमस्य भक्षः । इमा या गावः स जनास इन्द्र इच्छामीद्धृदा मनसा चिदिन्द्रम् ॥

gāvo bhago gāva indro me acchāngāvaḥ somasya prathamasya bhakṣaḥ | imā yā gāvaḥ sa janāsa indra icchāmīddhṛdā manasā cidindram ||

May the cows be (for our) affluence; may Indra grant me cattle; may the cows yield the food of the first libation; these cows, oḥ men, are the Indra, the Indra whom I desire with heart and mins.

यूयं गावो मेदयथा कृशं चिदश्रीरं चित्कृणुथा सुप्रतीकम् । भद्रं गृहं कृणुथ भद्रवाचो बृहद्वो वय उच्यते सभासु ॥

yūyaṃ gāvo medayathā kṛśaṃ cidaśrīraṃ citkṛṇuthā supratīkam | bhadraṃ gṛhaṃ kṛṇutha bhadravāco bṛhadvo vaya ucyate sabhāsu ||

Do you, cows, give us nourisment; render the emaciated, the unlovely body the reverse; do you, whose lowing is auspicious, make my dwelling prosperous; great is the abundance that is attributed to you in religious assemblies.

प्रजावतीः सूयवसं रिशन्तीः शुद्धा अपः सुप्रपाणे पिबन्तीः । मा वः स्तेन ईशत माघशंसः परि वो हेती रुद्रस्य वृज्याः ॥

prajāvatīḥ sūyavasaṃ riśantīḥ śuddhā apaḥ suprapāṇe pibantīḥ | mā vaḥ stena īśata māghaśaṃsaḥ pari vo hetī rudrasya vṛjyāḥ ||

May you, cows, have many calves grazing upon good pasture, drinking pure water at accessible ponds; may no thief be your master; no beast of prey (assail you), and may the (fatal) weapon of Rudra avoid you.

उपेदमुपपर्चनमासु गोषूप पृच्यताम् । उप ऋषभस्य रेतस्युपेन्द्र तव वीर्ये ॥

upedamupaparcanamāsu goṣūpa pṛcyatām | upa ṛṣabhasya retasyupendra tava vīrye ||

Let the nourishment of the cows be solicited, let the vigour of the bull (be requested), Indra, for your invigoration.
