[rv-6-27] • 8 श्लोकाः

किमस्य मदे किम्वस्य पीताविन्द्रः किमस्य सख्ये चकार । रणा वा ये निषदि किं ते अस्य पुरा विविद्रे किमु नूतनासः ॥

kimasya made kimvasya pītāvindraḥ kimasya sakhye cakāra | raṇā vā ye niṣadi kiṃ te asya purā vividre kimu nūtanāsaḥ ||

What has Indra done in the exhilaration of this (Soma)? What has he done on quaffing this (libation)? What has he done in friendship for this (Soma)? What have former, what have recent adorers obtained from you in the chamber of this (libation)?

सदस्य मदे सद्वस्य पीताविन्द्रः सदस्य सख्ये चकार । रणा वा ये निषदि सत्ते अस्य पुरा विविद्रे सदु नूतनासः ॥

sadasya made sadvasya pītāvindraḥ sadasya sakhye cakāra | raṇā vā ye niṣadi satte asya purā vividre sadu nūtanāsaḥ ||

Verily, in the exhilaration of this (Soma) Indra has done a good deed; on quaffing the libation (he has done) a good deed; (he has done) a good deed in friendship for this Soma; former as well as recent adorers have obtained good of you in the chamber (of the libation).

नहि नु ते महिमनः समस्य न मघवन्मघवत्त्वस्य विद्म । न राधसोराधसो नूतनस्येन्द्र नकिर्ददृश इन्द्रियं ते ॥

nahi nu te mahimanaḥ samasya na maghavanmaghavattvasya vidma | na rādhasorādhaso nūtanasyendra nakirdadṛśa indriyaṃ te ||

We acknowledge no one, Maghavan, of greatness equal to yours, nor one of like affluence, nor one of equally glorifiable riches, none has (such as) your power been ever seen (in any other).

एतत्त्यत्त इन्द्रियमचेति येनावधीर्वरशिखस्य शेषः । वज्रस्य यत्ते निहतस्य शुष्मात्स्वनाच्चिदिन्द्र परमो ददार ॥

etattyatta indriyamaceti yenāvadhīrvaraśikhasya śeṣaḥ | vajrasya yatte nihatasya śuṣmātsvanāccidindra paramo dadāra ||

Such as your power (is) it has been comprehended (by us) as that wherewith you have slain the race of Varaśikha, when the boldest (of them) was demolished by the noise of your thunderbolt hurled with (all your) force.

वधीदिन्द्रो वरशिखस्य शेषोऽभ्यावर्तिने चायमानाय शिक्षन् । वृचीवतो यद्धरियूपीयायां हन्पूर्वे अर्धे भियसापरो दर्त् ॥

vadhīdindro varaśikhasya śeṣo'bhyāvartine cāyamānāya śikṣan | vṛcīvato yaddhariyūpīyāyāṃ hanpūrve ardhe bhiyasāparo dart ||

Favouring Abhyāvartin, the son of Cāyamāna, Indra destroyed the varaśikha (people), killng the descendants of Vṛcīvat, (who were stationed) on the Hariyūpīya, on the eastern part, while the western (troop) was scattered through fear.

त्रिंशच्छतं वर्मिण इन्द्र साकं यव्यावत्यां पुरुहूत श्रवस्या । वृचीवन्तः शरवे पत्यमानाः पात्रा भिन्दाना न्यर्थान्यायन् ॥

triṃśacchataṃ varmiṇa indra sākaṃ yavyāvatyāṃ puruhūta śravasyā | vṛcīvantaḥ śarave patyamānāḥ pātrā bhindānā nyarthānyāyan ||

Indra, the invoked of many, thirty hundred mailed warriors (were collected) together on the Yavyāvatī, to acquire glory, but the Vṛcīvats advancing in a hostile manner, and breaking the sacrificial vessels, went to (their own) annihilation.

यस्य गावावरुषा सूयवस्यू अन्तरू षु चरतो रेरिहाणा । स सृञ्जयाय तुर्वशं परादाद्वृचीवतो दैववाताय शिक्षन् ॥

yasya gāvāvaruṣā sūyavasyū antarū ṣu carato rerihāṇā | sa sṛñjayāya turvaśaṃ parādādvṛcīvato daivavātāya śikṣan ||

He whose bright prancing horses, delighted with choice fodder, proceed between (heaven and earth), gave up Turvaśa to Sṛñjaya, subjecting the Vṛcīvats to the descendant of Devavāta (Abhyāvartin).

द्वयाँ अग्ने रथिनो विंशतिं गा वधूमतो मघवा मह्यं सम्राट् । अभ्यावर्ती चायमानो ददाति दूणाशेयं दक्षिणा पार्थवानाम् ॥

dvayā~ agne rathino viṃśatiṃ gā vadhūmato maghavā mahyaṃ samrāṭ | abhyāvartī cāyamāno dadāti dūṇāśeyaṃ dakṣiṇā pārthavānām ||

The opulent supreme sovereign Abhyāvartin, the son of Cāyamāna, presents, Agni, to me two damsels riding in cars, and twenty cows; this donation of the descendant of Pṛthu cannot be desroyed.
