ऋग्वेद 5.76 (श्लोक 5) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

आ भात्यग्निरुषसामनीकमुद्विप्राणां देवया वाचो अस्थुः । अर्वाञ्चा नूनं रथ्येह यातं पीपिवांसमश्विना घर्ममच्छ ॥

ā bhātyagniruṣasāmanīkamudviprāṇāṃ devayā vāco asthuḥ | arvāñcā nūnaṃ rathyeha yātaṃ pīpivāṃsamaśvinā gharmamaccha ||

Agni light sup the face of the dawns; the devout praisers of the pious have risen up; therefore, Aśvins, lords of the chariot, descending, come hither today to the splendid sacrifice, perfect (in all its parts).

न संस्कृतं प्र मिमीतो गमिष्ठान्ति नूनमश्विनोपस्तुतेह । दिवाभिपित्वेऽवसागमिष्ठा प्रत्यवर्तिं दाशुषे शम्भविष्ठा ॥

na saṃskṛtaṃ pra mimīto gamiṣṭhānti nūnamaśvinopastuteha | divābhipitve'vasāgamiṣṭhā pratyavartiṃ dāśuṣe śambhaviṣṭhā ||

Harm not, Aśvins, the perfected (rite), but coming now most quickly, be glorified on this occasion; be present at the opening of the ay, with proection against destitution, and be prompt to bestow happiness upon the donor (of the offering).

उता यातं संगवे प्रातरह्नो मध्यंदिन उदिता सूर्यस्य । दिवा नक्तमवसा शंतमेन नेदानीं पीतिरश्विना ततान ॥

utā yātaṃ saṃgave prātarahno madhyaṃdina uditā sūryasya | divā naktamavasā śaṃtamena nedānīṃ pītiraśvinā tatāna ||

Whether you come at the (milking time) of the cattle, at the dawn of day, at noon, when the sun is high, or by day or by night, (come) with felicitious protection; the drinking of the Soma has not now extended beyond the Aśvins. (whether you come: the day is divisible into two, three, five or fifteen parts; here the five-fold distinction is alluded to: uditā sūryasya = the afternoon, atyanta pravṛddha samayaḥ aparāhṇa ityarthaḥ; the drinking of the soma...Aśvins: nedānīm pītir aśvinā tatāna: legend-- the other gods refused to admit the participation of the Aśvins in the Soma libation at these hours, but on the present occasion they are not passed over; idānim api itaradevānām pānam na tanotyaśvinau vihāya, but now the drinking of the other gods does not extend, having omitted the two Aśvins]

इदं हि वां प्रदिवि स्थानमोक इमे गृहा अश्विनेदं दुरोणम् । आ नो दिवो बृहतः पर्वतादाद्भ्यो यातमिषमूर्जं वहन्ता ॥

idaṃ hi vāṃ pradivi sthānamoka ime gṛhā aśvinedaṃ duroṇam | ā no divo bṛhataḥ parvatādādbhyo yātamiṣamūrjaṃ vahantā ||

This station, Aśvins, is your ancient abode; these are your mansions, this your dwelling; come from the vast firmament, (verspread) by clouds (filled) with water, bringing strength.

समश्विनोरवसा नूतनेन मयोभुवा सुप्रणीती गमेम । आ नो रयिं वहतमोत वीराना विश्वान्यमृता सौभगानि ॥

samaśvinoravasā nūtanena mayobhuvā supraṇītī gamema | ā no rayiṃ vahatamota vīrānā viśvānyamṛtā saubhagāni ||

May we be united with the Aśvins by their special protection, which is the source of happiness and guide to good; bestow upon us, immortals, wealth and posterity; and all good things.
