[rv-5-73] • 10 श्लोकाः

यदद्य स्थः परावति यदर्वावत्यश्विना । यद्वा पुरू पुरुभुजा यदन्तरिक्ष आ गतम् ॥

yadadya sthaḥ parāvati yadarvāvatyaśvinā | yadvā purū purubhujā yadantarikṣa ā gatam ||

Whether, Aśvins, you are at present far, whether you are nigh, whether you are (straying) many plural ces, or whether you are in mid-air, do you, who partake of many offerings, come hither.

इह त्या पुरुभूतमा पुरू दंसांसि बिभ्रता । वरस्या याम्यध्रिगू हुवे तुविष्टमा भुजे ॥

iha tyā purubhūtamā purū daṃsāṃsi bibhratā | varasyā yāmyadhrigū huve tuviṣṭamā bhuje ||

I approach you (to invite you) hither, you who are the encouragers of many; (who are) the achievers of many (great) exploits, most excellent and irresistible, I invoke you, who are most mighty, for protection.

ईर्मान्यद्वपुषे वपुश्चक्रं रथस्य येमथुः । पर्यन्या नाहुषा युगा मह्ना रजांसि दीयथः ॥

īrmānyadvapuṣe vapuścakraṃ rathasya yemathuḥ | paryanyā nāhuṣā yugā mahnā rajāṃsi dīyathaḥ ||

You hae arrested one luminous wheel of (your) car for illumining the form (of the sun), while with the other you traverse the spheres (to regulate) by your power the ages of mankind.

तदू षु वामेना कृतं विश्वा यद्वामनु ष्टवे । नाना जातावरेपसा समस्मे बन्धुमेयथुः ॥

tadū ṣu vāmenā kṛtaṃ viśvā yadvāmanu ṣṭave | nānā jātāvarepasā samasme bandhumeyathuḥ ||

May the praise, universal (deities), wherewith I laud you, be agreeable to you, as offered by this (your worshipper); and do yo, who are severally born, and free from blame bestow upon us food.

आ यद्वां सूर्या रथं तिष्ठद्रघुष्यदं सदा । परि वामरुषा वयो घृणा वरन्त आतपः ॥

ā yadvāṃ sūryā rathaṃ tiṣṭhadraghuṣyadaṃ sadā | pari vāmaruṣā vayo ghṛṇā varanta ātapaḥ ||

When Sūrya has ascended your ever easy-moving car, then bright-waving, resplendent rays (of light) encompass you.

युवोरत्रिश्चिकेतति नरा सुम्नेन चेतसा । घर्मं यद्वामरेपसं नासत्यास्ना भुरण्यति ॥

yuvoratriściketati narā sumnena cetasā | gharmaṃ yadvāmarepasaṃ nāsatyāsnā bhuraṇyati ||

Leaders (of rites), Atri recognized (your benevolence) with (a grateful) mind on account of the relief (you afforded him), when, Nāsatyās, through his praise of you, he found the (fiery) heat innocuous.

उग्रो वां ककुहो ययिः शृण्वे यामेषु संतनिः । यद्वां दंसोभिरश्विनात्रिर्नराववर्तति ॥

ugro vāṃ kakuho yayiḥ śṛṇve yāmeṣu saṃtaniḥ | yadvāṃ daṃsobhiraśvinātrirnarāvavartati ||

Your strong, lofty, moving, ever-progressing (ear) has been renowned at sacrifices ever since; Aśvins, leaders (of rites), Atri was rescued by your acts.

मध्व ऊ षु मधूयुवा रुद्रा सिषक्ति पिप्युषी । यत्समुद्राति पर्षथः पक्वाः पृक्षो भरन्त वाम् ॥

madhva ū ṣu madhūyuvā rudrā siṣakti pipyuṣī | yatsamudrāti parṣathaḥ pakvāḥ pṛkṣo bharanta vām ||

Mixers of the Soma juice, Rudras, (our) nutritious (adoration) bedews you will with the libation, when you traverse (the limits) of the firmament, and the prepared viands (of the sacrifice) support you.

सत्यमिद्वा उ अश्विना युवामाहुर्मयोभुवा । ता यामन्यामहूतमा यामन्ना मृऴयत्तमा ॥

satyamidvā u aśvinā yuvāmāhurmayobhuvā | tā yāmanyāmahūtamā yāmannā mṛḻayattamā ||

Truly have they called you, Aśvins, the bestowers of felicity; such may you be when earnestly invoked to our sacrifice; bountiful bestowers of felicity at our sacrifice.

इमा ब्रह्माणि वर्धनाश्विभ्यां सन्तु शंतमा । या तक्षाम रथाँ इवावोचाम बृहन्नमः ॥

imā brahmāṇi vardhanāśvibhyāṃ santu śaṃtamā | yā takṣāma rathā~ ivāvocāma bṛhannamaḥ ||

May these praises exalting the Aśvins be productive of happiness, the praise that we fabricate as (a wheelwright) a car; we proclaim aloud fervent adoration.
