[rv-5-57] • 8 श्लोकाः

आ रुद्रास इन्द्रवन्तः सजोषसो हिरण्यरथाः सुविताय गन्तन । इयं वो अस्मत्प्रति हर्यते मतिस्तृष्णजे न दिव उत्सा उदन्यवे ॥

ā rudrāsa indravantaḥ sajoṣaso hiraṇyarathāḥ suvitāya gantana | iyaṃ vo asmatprati haryate matistṛṣṇaje na diva utsā udanyave ||

Rudras, servants of Indra, mutually kind, riding in golden cars, come to the accessible (sacrifice); this our praise is addressed to you; (come to us as you came) from heaven, (bringing) oozing water to the thirsty (Gotama) longing for moisture.

वाशीमन्त ऋष्टिमन्तो मनीषिणः सुधन्वान इषुमन्तो निषङ्गिणः । स्वश्वाः स्थ सुरथाः पृश्निमातरः स्वायुधा मरुतो याथना शुभम् ॥

vāśīmanta ṛṣṭimanto manīṣiṇaḥ sudhanvāna iṣumanto niṣaṅgiṇaḥ | svaśvāḥ stha surathāḥ pṛśnimātaraḥ svāyudhā maruto yāthanā śubham ||

Intelligent Maruts, you are armed with swords, with lances, with bows with arrows, with quivers; you are well mounted and have handsome chariots; sons of Pṛṣṇi you are well armed; come for our good.

धूनुथ द्यां पर्वतान्दाशुषे वसु नि वो वना जिहते यामनो भिया । कोपयथ पृथिवीं पृश्निमातरः शुभे यदुग्राः पृषतीरयुग्ध्वम् ॥

dhūnutha dyāṃ parvatāndāśuṣe vasu ni vo vanā jihate yāmano bhiyā | kopayatha pṛthivīṃ pṛśnimātaraḥ śubhe yadugrāḥ pṛṣatīrayugdhvam ||

You agitate the clouds in the sky; (you give) wealth to the donor (of oblations); through fear of your approach the forests bow down; sons of Pṛṣṇi, you incense the earth when, for the purpose of (sending) water, you, fierce (Maruts), yoke your spotted steeds.

वातत्विषो मरुतो वर्षनिर्णिजो यमा इव सुसदृशः सुपेशसः । पिशङ्गाश्वा अरुणाश्वा अरेपसः प्रत्वक्षसो महिना द्यौरिवोरवः ॥

vātatviṣo maruto varṣanirṇijo yamā iva susadṛśaḥ supeśasaḥ | piśaṅgāśvā aruṇāśvā arepasaḥ pratvakṣaso mahinā dyaurivoravaḥ ||

The Maruts, radiant with light, purifiers of the rain, like twins of goodly aspect and graceful form, masters of tawny and of ruddy steeds, devoid of guile, thinners (of foes) and vast in magnitude as the sky.

पुरुद्रप्सा अञ्जिमन्तः सुदानवस्त्वेषसंदृशो अनवभ्रराधसः । सुजातासो जनुषा रुक्मवक्षसो दिवो अर्का अमृतं नाम भेजिरे ॥

purudrapsā añjimantaḥ sudānavastveṣasaṃdṛśo anavabhrarādhasaḥ | sujātāso januṣā rukmavakṣaso divo arkā amṛtaṃ nāma bhejire ||

Shedders of abundant showers, wearers of ornaments, munificent, of brilliant aspect, of inexhaustible wealth well descendent by birth, wearing golden breast-plural tes, entitled to adoration, (coming) from heaven, accept teḥ ambrosial oblation.

ऋष्टयो वो मरुतो अंसयोरधि सह ओजो बाह्वोर्वो बलं हितम् । नृम्णा शीर्षस्वायुधा रथेषु वो विश्वा वः श्रीरधि तनूषु पिपिशे ॥

ṛṣṭayo vo maruto aṃsayoradhi saha ojo bāhvorvo balaṃ hitam | nṛmṇā śīrṣasvāyudhā ratheṣu vo viśvā vaḥ śrīradhi tanūṣu pipiśe ||

Lances rest, Maruts, upon your shoulders; strength (of) foes-destroying power is seated in your arms; golden (tiaras) are on your heads, weapons are plural ced in your chariots, all glory is assembled in your limbs.

गोमदश्वावद्रथवत्सुवीरं चन्द्रवद्राधो मरुतो ददा नः । प्रशस्तिं नः कृणुत रुद्रियासो भक्षीय वोऽवसो दैव्यस्य ॥

gomadaśvāvadrathavatsuvīraṃ candravadrādho maruto dadā naḥ | praśastiṃ naḥ kṛṇuta rudriyāso bhakṣīya vo'vaso daivyasya ||

Maruts, bestow upon us affluence, comprehending cattle, horses, cars, treasure, and male descendants; sons of Rudra, grant us distinction; may I ever enjoy your divine protection.

हये नरो मरुतो मृऴता नस्तुवीमघासो अमृता ऋतज्ञाः । सत्यश्रुतः कवयो युवानो बृहद्गिरयो बृहदुक्षमाणाः ॥

haye naro maruto mṛḻatā nastuvīmaghāso amṛtā ṛtajñāḥ | satyaśrutaḥ kavayo yuvāno bṛhadgirayo bṛhadukṣamāṇāḥ ||

Ho, Maruts, leaders (of rites), be propitious to us, you who are infinitely opulent, immortal, shedders of rain, renowned for truth, wise, young, greatly glorified, and worshipped with copious oblations.
