[rv-10-44] • 11 श्लोकाः

आ यात्विन्द्रः स्वपतिर्मदाय यो धर्मणा तूतुजानस्तुविष्मान् । प्रत्वक्षाणो अति विश्वा सहांस्यपारेण महता वृष्ण्येन ॥

ā yātvindraḥ svapatirmadāya yo dharmaṇā tūtujānastuviṣmān | pratvakṣāṇo ati viśvā sahāṃsyapāreṇa mahatā vṛṣṇyena ||

May Indra, the lord of wealth, come here with his chariot for his exhilaration; he who is rapid, strong,who, overcoming all the forces (of the enemy) by his great insuperable might, (passes) through them.

सुष्ठामा रथः सुयमा हरी ते मिम्यक्ष वज्रो नृपते गभस्तौ । शीभं राजन्त्सुपथा याह्यर्वाङ्वर्धाम ते पपुषो वृष्ण्यानि ॥

suṣṭhāmā rathaḥ suyamā harī te mimyakṣa vajro nṛpate gabhastau | śībhaṃ rājantsupathā yāhyarvāṅvardhāma te papuṣo vṛṣṇyāni ||

King of men, your chariot is well stationed; your horses are well trained; the thunderbolt is grasped inyour hands; come quickly towards us, lord of all, by a good path, we will augment your energies when you drinkthe Soma.

एन्द्रवाहो नृपतिं वज्रबाहुमुग्रमुग्रासस्तविषास एनम् । प्रत्वक्षसं वृषभं सत्यशुष्ममेमस्मत्रा सधमादो वहन्तु ॥

endravāho nṛpatiṃ vajrabāhumugramugrāsastaviṣāsa enam | pratvakṣasaṃ vṛṣabhaṃ satyaśuṣmamemasmatrā sadhamādo vahantu ||

May the fierce, vigorous, exulting horses of Indra bring him here to us, the king of men, armed with thethunderbolt, fierce, the reducer of foes, the showerer (of benefits), whose strength is real.

एवा पतिं द्रोणसाचं सचेतसमूर्जः स्कम्भं धरुण आ वृषायसे । ओजः कृष्व सं गृभाय त्वे अप्यसो यथा केनिपानामिनो वृधे ॥

evā patiṃ droṇasācaṃ sacetasamūrjaḥ skambhaṃ dharuṇa ā vṛṣāyase | ojaḥ kṛṣva saṃ gṛbhāya tve apyaso yathā kenipānāmino vṛdhe ||

Verily, Indra, you pour into your capacious (stomach) the protecting (Soma), serving the woodentrough, intelligent, holding strength; bestow (upon us) vigour; take us into yourself, for you are the lord for theexaltation of the wise.

गमन्नस्मे वसून्या हि शंसिषं स्वाशिषं भरमा याहि सोमिनः । त्वमीशिषे सास्मिन्ना सत्सि बर्हिष्यनाधृष्या तव पात्राणि धर्मणा ॥

gamannasme vasūnyā hi śaṃsiṣaṃ svāśiṣaṃ bharamā yāhi sominaḥ | tvamīśiṣe sāsminnā satsi barhiṣyanādhṛṣyā tava pātrāṇi dharmaṇā ||

Let the wealth (to be given by you) come quickly to me, for verily I have glorified you; come to theblessed sacrifice of the offerer of the Soma; for you are the lord; sit down upon this sacred grass; these yourcups (of Soma) are not to be insulted by the act (of evil spirits).

पृथक्प्रायन्प्रथमा देवहूतयोऽकृण्वत श्रवस्यानि दुष्टरा । न ये शेकुर्यज्ञियां नावमारुहमीर्मैव ते न्यविशन्त केपयः ॥

pṛthakprāyanprathamā devahūtayo'kṛṇvata śravasyāni duṣṭarā | na ye śekuryajñiyāṃ nāvamāruhamīrmaiva te nyaviśanta kepayaḥ ||

They go separately (to the worlds of the gods); first those who offer oblations to the gods haveattained reputation difficult to surpass; those who have not been able to ascend the ship of sacrifice, have gonedown (in the world), wretches (plural nged) in debt.

एवैवापागपरे सन्तु दूढ्योऽश्वा येषां दुर्युज आयुयुज्रे । इत्था ये प्रागुपरे सन्ति दावने पुरूणि यत्र वयुनानि भोजना ॥

evaivāpāgapare santu dūḍhyo'śvā yeṣāṃ duryuja āyuyujre | itthā ye prāgupare santi dāvane purūṇi yatra vayunāni bhojanā ||

Details:

गिरीँरज्रान्रेजमानाँ अधारयद्द्यौः क्रन्ददन्तरिक्षाणि कोपयत् । समीचीने धिषणे वि ष्कभायति वृष्णः पीत्वा मद उक्थानि शंसति ॥

girī~rajrānrejamānā~ adhārayaddyauḥ krandadantarikṣāṇi kopayat | samīcīne dhiṣaṇe vi ṣkabhāyati vṛṣṇaḥ pītvā mada ukthāni śaṃsati ||

(Indra) has arrested the wandering tremulous clouds; the heaven cries out (in alarm); he agitates thefirmament; he fixes the combined heaven and earth; having drunk of the effused Soma, he repeats praises in hisexhilaration.

इमं बिभर्मि सुकृतं ते अङ्कुशं येनारुजासि मघवञ्छफारुजः । अस्मिन्त्सु ते सवने अस्त्वोक्यं सुत इष्टौ मघवन्बोध्याभगः ॥

imaṃ bibharmi sukṛtaṃ te aṅkuśaṃ yenārujāsi maghavañchaphārujaḥ | asmintsu te savane astvokyaṃ suta iṣṭau maghavanbodhyābhagaḥ ||

I bear this your well-made goad, (excited) by which, Maghavat, you urge on the slayers of powerfulfoes. Let your abode be at this my sacrifice. Accept, Maghavat, who are to be adored, (my praise) at the sacrificeat which (the Soma) is effused.

गोभिष्टरेमामतिं दुरेवां यवेन क्षुधं पुरुहूत विश्वाम् । वयं राजभिः प्रथमा धनान्यस्माकेन वृजनेना जयेम ॥

gobhiṣṭaremāmatiṃ durevāṃ yavena kṣudhaṃ puruhūta viśvām | vayaṃ rājabhiḥ prathamā dhanānyasmākena vṛjanenā jayema ||

Indra, invoked of many, may we escape all ignorance caused by poverty by means of our cattle; (maywe escape) all hunger by means of our barley; (may we acquire) the chief riches through the princes (of wealth);may we conquer by our valour.

बृहस्पतिर्नः परि पातु पश्चादुतोत्तरस्मादधरादघायोः । इन्द्रः पुरस्तादुत मध्यतो नः सखा सखिभ्यो वरिवः कृणोतु ॥

bṛhaspatirnaḥ pari pātu paścādutottarasmādadharādaghāyoḥ | indraḥ purastāduta madhyato naḥ sakhā sakhibhyo varivaḥ kṛṇotu ||

May Bṛhaspati defend us from a malignant (foe) coming from behind, from above, or from below; mayIndra defend us from foes in front and in the middle; may he, our friend, bestow wealth upon (us) his friends.
