[rv-10-29] • 8 श्लोकाः

वने न वा यो न्यधायि चाकञ्छुचिर्वां स्तोमो भुरणावजीगः । यस्येदिन्द्रः पुरुदिनेषु होता नृणां नर्यो नृतमः क्षपावान् ॥

vane na vā yo nyadhāyi cākañchucirvāṃ stomo bhuraṇāvajīgaḥ | yasyedindraḥ purudineṣu hotā nṛṇāṃ naryo nṛtamaḥ kṣapāvān ||

As (the bird) who deposits its young (in its nest) in the tree (is) eagerly looking around, so you bearers(Aśvins) your pure praise (ever) keeps you awake; (that praise) of which Indra has for many days been theinvoker, (Indra) the friend of man, the manliest of men, (to whom the Soma) is offered at night.

प्र ते अस्या उषसः प्रापरस्या नृतौ स्याम नृतमस्य नृणाम् । अनु त्रिशोकः शतमावहन्नॄन्कुत्सेन रथो यो असत्ससवान् ॥

pra te asyā uṣasaḥ prāparasyā nṛtau syāma nṛtamasya nṛṇām | anu triśokaḥ śatamāvahannṝnkutsena ratho yo asatsasavān ||

May we be prosperous at the coming of the present or of any future dawn, (through the adoration) ofyou, the chief leader of men; through your favour Triśoka obtained a hundred followers; the chariot which wascommon to him and you was acquired by Kutsa.

कस्ते मद इन्द्र रन्त्यो भूद्दुरो गिरो अभ्युग्रो वि धाव । कद्वाहो अर्वागुप मा मनीषा आ त्वा शक्यामुपमं राधो अन्नैः ॥

kaste mada indra rantyo bhūdduro giro abhyugro vi dhāva | kadvāho arvāgupa mā manīṣā ā tvā śakyāmupamaṃ rādho annaiḥ ||

What sort of exhilaration, Indra, is agreeable to you? You who are powerful hasten to the doors (of thesacrificial chamber) to our praises; when will the Soma be present? (When will) intelligence (come) to me? When,having propitiated you, may I acquire wealth and food?

कदु द्युम्नमिन्द्र त्वावतो नॄन्कया धिया करसे कन्न आगन् । मित्रो न सत्य उरुगाय भृत्या अन्ने समस्य यदसन्मनीषाः ॥

kadu dyumnamindra tvāvato nṝnkayā dhiyā karase kanna āgan | mitro na satya urugāya bhṛtyā anne samasya yadasanmanīṣāḥ ||

When, Indra, (having partaken of) our oblation, and by what sacred rite, will you render menresembling you? When will you bring them to us? You, who are widely renowned, are to us like a true friend,(attentive) for our support, when the minds of all were (anxious) for food.

प्रेरय सूरो अर्थं न पारं ये अस्य कामं जनिधा इव ग्मन् । गिरश्च ये ते तुविजात पूर्वीर्नर इन्द्र प्रतिशिक्षन्त्यन्नैः ॥

preraya sūro arthaṃ na pāraṃ ye asya kāmaṃ janidhā iva gman | giraśca ye te tuvijāta pūrvīrnara indra pratiśikṣantyannaiḥ ||

As the sun (brings) the ascetic, do you bring to the end (of existence) (your worshippers), who satisfyyour desire (fo the Soma), as husbands (the desire of their wives); and who (being) leaders of rites, multiformIndra, offer to you ancient praises with (sacrificial) viands.

मात्रे नु ते सुमिते इन्द्र पूर्वी द्यौर्मज्मना पृथिवी काव्येन । वराय ते घृतवन्तः सुतासः स्वाद्मन्भवन्तु पीतये मधूनि ॥

mātre nu te sumite indra pūrvī dyaurmajmanā pṛthivī kāvyena | varāya te ghṛtavantaḥ sutāsaḥ svādmanbhavantu pītaye madhūni ||

By your overwhelming energy, Indra, the vast heaven and earth, the measurers (of all), have beenquickly constructed; may the Soma-libations mixed with ghī be acceptable (to you) who are most excellent; (maythe oblations be) sweet for your drinking.

आ मध्वो अस्मा असिचन्नमत्रमिन्द्राय पूर्णं स हि सत्यराधाः । स वावृधे वरिमन्ना पृथिव्या अभि क्रत्वा नर्यः पौंस्यैश्च ॥

ā madhvo asmā asicannamatramindrāya pūrṇaṃ sa hi satyarādhāḥ | sa vāvṛdhe varimannā pṛthivyā abhi kratvā naryaḥ pauṃsyaiśca ||

(The worshippers) have poured out the vessel full of the sweet (Soma) (into the fire) for that Indra, forhe is true (to his promises) of wealth; Indra, the friend of man, (distinguished) by his actions, and his prowess, ismagnified throughout the expanse of the firmament.

व्यानऴिन्द्रः पृतनाः स्वोजा आस्मै यतन्ते सख्याय पूर्वीः । आ स्मा रथं न पृतनासु तिष्ठ यं भद्रया सुमत्या चोदयासे ॥

vyānaḻindraḥ pṛtanāḥ svojā āsmai yatante sakhyāya pūrvīḥ | ā smā rathaṃ na pṛtanāsu tiṣṭha yaṃ bhadrayā sumatyā codayāse ||

The powerful Indra reaches the hosts (of the enemy), the mightiest (hosts) exert themselves to obtainhis friendship; ascend, Indra, that chariot which you direct with favourable intent (to our sacrifice), as a chariot(which you mount) against the armies (of the foe).
